You Look like the Fourth of July!

I think the Fourth of July is one of my favorite holidays to plan outfits for. I am not quite sure why, I just love me some red, white, and blue. Maybe it is the challenge of how to creatively put those three together in a new way every year. Regardless, I just love it and this year is no different.

Old Navy is always a GREAT stop for Fourth of July looks. They just have so many great pieces and most of them you can mix and match with each other. I walked in the store, to pick up an order NOT to shop, and immediately found four items in like five minutes sooo that is where we are. Check it out:

I love creating red, white, and blue outfits but with more vintage colors, like how these pants are not fully bright red, more of a tomato. Plus they will also be great for a hot summer night because they are thin.

Another way to style these pants for the holiday…

This is another way to not have the bold patriotic colors, this tank is actually gray striped but together gives the look of being festive. I also love that either of these looks can be worn on a regular casual day and you won’t just look like the Fourth of July. But then again who cares right?! LOVE AMERICA!

It has been so long since I have done a style post, I miss them. I will be trying to do more again so stay tuned! Below are some of my previous year’s looks for the Fourth!

One of my favorite work looks for the occasion!

Hope everyone has a safe and fun Fourth of July! Below are a few more items if you need last minute ideas! (all items are linked below and all images are from Old Navy)

Fall Preview!

I feel like I am pretty much ready for fall colors. I love the transitional pieces that you can still (most) wear in summer but will be perfect for fall LIKE THESE BOOTIES!

img_7623

I got them from the Nordstrom Anniversary sale and it wasn’t an easy task. They didn’t have them in my stores and my size sold out online. I had them on my wishlist and I literally stalked them multiple times a day checking the sizes. Finally I saw a 7.5 was back and I ordered it so fast! When I got the shipping confirmation I knew it was for real. You know how sometimes when there are limited sizes you can order something and then you get that really depressing email that it was actually sold out and you’re getting a refund? That is what I was worried about. BUT I WON! They are Kristin Cavallari and I love them! They are surprisingly light weight and really comfortable. I know I will be wearing them a lot this fall, they will go with almost everything! Linked down below!

As for this polkadot top, I saw it on an Old Navy email and was in love! It is perfect for work wear and for a causal look. I found these black jeans at Old Navy too. I liked the high waist and the slightly faded black, but I was a little hesitant about the “straight leg” bottom. I wanted to wear this outfit with my booties but didn’t know if that would look funny. I decided to just go for it and I actually liked it. I think the released hem helped.

I feel like something is happening to me… I am liking black! It is not that I do not like black, I am just always more drawn to colors but this fall I think I am really going to invest in some good black pieces, the looks are just so chic!

See the look below and all items linked! PS – my post on Friday will be about my super cute wood watch and my giveaway link will be up again! Stay tuned!

Old Navy Dress Roundup

I have been obsessed with Old Navy’s summer dresses this year. They have been so perfect and their prints have been on point. You probably know how much I like the resort wear look so all of these palm and tropical flower prints have been my jam. I ended up with three this summer (yes I know not that many but I had to limit myself!) and I want to wear them all the time. Luckily I got them all on sale too!

First one I got was this black floral print dress with a tie neck. It’s perfect with either sandals or wedges and is nice and cool for when it’s hot. It comes in a couple other colors as well but a lot of sizes are almost sold out! Linked here!

Second was this basic swing dress that is SO comfortable! There aren’t too many colors left but I want to buy another. It is so cute with some fun earrings and wedges, or even sandals or tennies! Linked here!

Lastly is this fun little salsa dress. The off the shoulder detail and the bottom ruffle are just SO FUN! I need an actual event to wear this too, I just love it so much. I feel like I’m instantly on vacation when I put it on! A couple sizes are gone in this color, but black is fully stocked. Linked here!

I can’t believe it’s August! Let’s enjoy the end of summer and welcome FALL SOON!

Blogger on Vacation

It has been forever and a half since I have posted a blog and I apologize. I do not really know why. You know when you have been good about going to the gym, and you take a day off and it is okay, but when you take a few or more days off you just fall out of your groove and don’t want to go anymore? That is kind of what happened. Anyways, last week I glanced at Old Navy online and they have so many cute things (and sales)! They have a collection called Bold Botanicals and it has the cutest summer prints. I love all of the resort wear styles, it makes me want to be on vacation all the time, but instead I just wear them and pretend. I always say “I want to dress like a blogger on vacation,” when I go somewhere for a little weekend vacation. I even said that was my goal style when we went to Mexico last summer. It is funny though because I am a blogger, and I was on vacation, so why do I say I want to dress like a blogger on vacation when I AM a blogger on vacation? I need to be better about not discounting what I am just because I am not that big. I am working on growing my following but just because it is not huge yet does not make me any less of a blogger! So something for me to work on and believe in myself.

This last weekend my sisters, bfff, and I went on our Palm Springs trip and I WAS A BLOGGER ON VACATION. On Sunday for the morning and Father’s Day I wore one of the dresses from Old Navy (on sale for $15 right now!) and it was so cute! I am linking it below along with a few of my other faves.

Enjoy and happy Tuesday!

PS – If you didn’t see on my Insta story, I got braces yesterday! Currently on a liquid diet and not enjoying it but I keep being told it will get better. It better or the next 18 months will suck. More on that later!

Lunch Date Look!

I have multiple outfits that I love for going on dates, but I really love dressing for lunch dates. One of my current favorite looks for a lunch date includes this red off the shoulder top I bought from Nectar Clothing (current alternative linked) in the Claremont Village. It is perfect for lunch because you can dress it up or down. Here I paired it with white shorts from Old Navy, and my indigo rd. wedges from Macy’s. Another option could be brown sandals in case you don’t want to look too overdressed. This top could also be paired with blue jean shorts, regular pants, boyfriend jeans, or even white jeans. If you are doing normal blue jeans, you can also try pairing the top with white sandals. I have worn this top with boyfriend jeans, and my wedges out to a dinner date with a friend and it was so perfect for the occasion! Even though this specific top is from last year, this simple look can be easily recreated with most off the shoulder tops, especially since they are still very popular this year. Aside from it being a great date outfit, it is a great spring and summer outfit in general whether on a date, out with the girls, or at a family gathering!

Bringing Cacti to the Office

It was only a matter of time before I brought my love of cacti into my office wardrobe, I was just waiting until I found the perfect way. I had seen a couple cactus tops but they were all kind of pricey. Finally, thanks to a blogger I follow on insta, The Sister Studio, I found a cactus print button up from Old Navy that full price is $26.99 and I got it on sale for 40% off. Score!

Although I could wear this classic button up by itself will slacks, that just seemed a little boring. I have a yellow blazer I got from one of the $10 stores in downtown Palm Springs that I haven’t worn yet. I figured now that it is spring, it would be the perfect addition to my cactus outfit. It actually worked great together! The cactus print is pretty small and spread out so it wasn’t too loud with a bright yellow blazer. I just paired my navy slacks with it but really I could wear either my navy, black, or gray. On the weekend I am excited to try my button up with a pair of high waist denim shorts and sandals or wedges (well before it gets too hot to wear a three quarter length sleeve outside in the sun). Find the top linked here!

Happy Monday! Sorry I have been slacking on the work outfits post, I have just been doing so many fun things on the weekend! I will plan some more, promise!

Sweater & A-Line Combo

There was a skirt from Maison Jules at Macy’s that I had kind of been stalking. I looked at it a few times, tried it on once, and decided I would buy it if it was on sale, which it wasn’t, so I put it back. A few weeks later Macy’s was having one of their one day sales and the skirt fell under that sale. I put it in my online cart just to see. I had a coupon in my “Macy’s Wallet” for $15 off $40 or more (the skirt was $39.99 and the coup actually applied!) AND THEN I had $15 in Macy’s cash (some deal I got from a previous purchase) that expired the next day. In the end the skirt, which was originally $69.50, came out to like $12 with tax! Talk about a steal, obviously I bought it. It is a little longer than normal but perfect for work and I love the colors, navy and plum. During the black Friday sale (on the Wednesday before) all of Old Navy was 50% off and I had bought an off white sweater. I hadn’t thought about wearing it with the skirt until last night and it came out super cute! Luckily I have plum pointed flats with crossing ankle straps that went perfectly with the outfit, and a navy and purple statement necklace from Charming Charlie. This is a perfect outfit for the office that was actually pretty warm.

Navy Stripes and Everything Nice!

Yesterday I finally got to wear my other outfit I got as my “congratulations you got yourself a new job, you deserve this” purchase. I have been waiting to wear this one! Of course again it is from Maison Jules at Macy’s (I told you I was obsessed), but the pants are Old Navy. You may recognize this ruffle-hem top because I posted about the polkadot one on my first day of work. It was so cute I had to buy two. They are simple, girly, and comfy, and you can wear them with jeans too to be casual. The navy striped blazer is the most comfortable blazer I have ever worn! A lot of blazers, at least in my experience can be restricting, but this one is so stretchy it’s awesome. I was so comfortable all day which is great for the office. The pants are my new Pixie mid-rise ankle pants from Old Navy, these are so comfy too! I usually buy my ankle pants from Target but I think I actually like these better… shh don’t tell Target.

Lastly, I just can’t get over these flats, they just make such a statement I wear them every chance I get! They are plum, pointed, and have crossing ankle straps, basically the equation of perfection. If I haven’t mentioned before they are from Forever 21.

The Best Color Combo

I know I have been obsessed with Old Navy recently but I can’t help it! I just find the best deals and and some of the cutest clothes, especially basics. On my last shopping trip there in March (after my month of no shopping), I found this navy striped loose peplum tank and it was on sale for $8! (I also bought it in black) I had been waiting for the perfect way to wear this, so I decided white pants were the best pairing. Of course I didn’t have any, so back to Old Navy I went! I wanted to add some color to the outfit and I LOVE wearing coral with navy so what would be better than a coral necklace to add some pop? I had just bought a coral necklace from Charming Charlie because it was a color I didn’t have yet, and it is a good one to have for summer. I was excited when I finally put this outfit on and paired it all together. I added my chunky tan heels because they basically go with everything and I love them. You cannot go wrong with navy, white, and coral.

I hope you all had a good Tuesday!

Pattern Mixing

I saw a picture on Instagram the other day of a striped tee with a floral skirt. I became obsessed and wanted to create my own version. I already have a striped tee so all I needed was the skirt, so I went to my go to, Old Navy! After wandering around for quite some time I found this navy print skirt on the clearance rack for $8.48! What a steal! As I said I already have a striped tee, but I don’t have a striped tank. I am seriously so obsessed with stripes right now… So I bought a tank. I found this one on sale for $6! It’s a double scoop so the neck and the back both scoop down. It’s really light and super comfy. As I was walking to the front I passed this open cardigan. It’s a good color and the shorter sleeves are great for the warmer weather. I had my two patterns so I figured a solid sweater layered on top would really tie the whole outfit together. For the finishing touches I added my pendant tassel necklace from Charming Charlie and my tan chunky heels from G Stage. They have to be the most comfortable heels I’ve ever worn.
