Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween everyone! I love October, the time of year is just the best and brings out all these feeling and sentimental vibes, do you get that? I am so about Halloween and I always want to dress up, yet every year I end up with no plans and no costume. I am just going to blame that on my last million Halloweens have been spent with boyfriends who have no spirit and liked to conceal mine. This year I am finally single and still failed. I want to dress up so badly in a good costume!

One of the two Halloween parties I went to in college (see, lame alert there I only went to two) my bffff and I dressed up as 80’s workout girls and should have gotten the award for most clothes on at a college Halloween party. Yep leggings, leg warmers, and all, AND IT WAS HOT. Temperature hot, we were not looking hot.

The second party, I was technically out of college and I went with my sister “so we could go to a party together for once,” but really my not so secret ulterior motive was to see my ex. Sometimes I am just so sly. That costume was being one third of the three blind mice with two girlfriends. We wore black dresses, mouse ears, and sunglasses. Simple yet somehow we won the costume contest… I don’t know maybe all of the the judges were the blind ones but I will take it. I did better than see my ex with his new girl which happened to be one of my sorority sisters, I won the costume contest in front of everyone by basically not trying. Talking about this now but I am pretty positive that I wrote about this last Halloween. That is what happens when your glory days consist of parties you can count on one hand.

This year at work, my friend (who is also my coworker but above all she is my friend) and I are wearing olive shirts, printing out a dollar bill, and taping it to us because we are SINGLE. Creative or just an excuse to wear jeans, OR a way to tell the practically no hot guys at work that we are available? The office may never know.

I hope you all have a fun and safe Halloween! I am going to go trick-or-treating with my niece and bribe candy off of her. She said I can go as a princess unicorn, I am all about it.

What is the best costume you have ever worn for Halloween?

PS – my sister is a hair and make-up artist and did this fun creepy clown look on me just for a photo. No parties, just washed it off after. But I for damn sure looked badass!

Lunch Date Look!

I have multiple outfits that I love for going on dates, but I really love dressing for lunch dates. One of my current favorite looks for a lunch date includes this red off the shoulder top I bought from Nectar Clothing (current alternative linked) in the Claremont Village. It is perfect for lunch because you can dress it up or down. Here I paired it with white shorts from Old Navy, and my indigo rd. wedges from Macy’s. Another option could be brown sandals in case you don’t want to look too overdressed. This top could also be paired with blue jean shorts, regular pants, boyfriend jeans, or even white jeans. If you are doing normal blue jeans, you can also try pairing the top with white sandals. I have worn this top with boyfriend jeans, and my wedges out to a dinner date with a friend and it was so perfect for the occasion! Even though this specific top is from last year, this simple look can be easily recreated with most off the shoulder tops, especially since they are still very popular this year. Aside from it being a great date outfit, it is a great spring and summer outfit in general whether on a date, out with the girls, or at a family gathering!

The Blogger Dress

My sister Tabitha and I have come to call this dress “the blogger dress”. It earned its name when the last Nordstrom anniversary sale happened. The dress wasn’t on sale but almost ALL of the bloggers we follow were wearing and talking about this dress by Leith. When I finally went to Nordstrom to try it on I understood why. This is probably the best dress I have ever owned. All the other bloggers kept talking about how great the fit was and how the ruching in the front covers any bloating or lack of abs. They were absolutely right. I feel so comfortable and good in this dress. It is long enough for work but still short enough to dress it up to go out. The crossed V front makes it a little sexy without being inappropriate. The best part is I feel like I can be relaxed in it and not worry about sucking it in all night or pulling it down so my butt doesn’t show like in a typical body-con. I am tall, like around 5’8″, and I can still wear a small in this dress and not worry about it being short. I already have it in black and this peach color, but I still want to get it in the navy… and possibly the green. It is just so versatile! It can seriously be worn for any occasion. Like below I just wore it with cheetah espadrille mules from Target to keep it casual to walk around Fremont Street. If you are looking for a good fitted dress I promise you, go try this on and you’ll probably want to buy it.

Year End Party

Sorry it has taken me so long to write this post, everything has been so busy with the upcoming holidays! I am sure you can all agree. I cannot believe Christmas is in a week from today! Are you ready? I almost am… I think. I wrapped three gifts last night and felt very accomplished. I still have a few things I need to get though.

Anyways, last Friday the 8th was my work year end party. My boyfriend was away at training so I brought my best friend and we had a blast. The “dress” I wore I had had my eye on for like ever. It was on my wishlist at Nordstrom and I kept stalking it. Finally it went on sale for 40% off so I HAD to buy it. My reasoning for buying it was for my work year end party, yeah I think I bought this in like September, only four months early LOL! I put dress in quotes because it is actually a romper. I kept calling it a “romper dress” not knowing the correct term until my bffff and I settled on “dromper”. Come to find out thanks to Socialite via Instagram, it is called a “walk through romper”. If you are lost, basically it is a romper with a long back almost like a train. I guess technically it is like a mullet! I know that all sounds so silly but wait until you see it!…

See! I felt so beautiful and sexy in it! I don’t want to sound conceited but you know those outfits that just give you all sorts of confidence? Well this was one of those. There was one flaw though… it is very low cut which again yes is sexy however, in order for it to not fly open and show off your girls you have to tape it to your chest with dress tape. That’s fine, I put it on and got all taped up. I also brought the tape with me in my purse because after my first experience with dress tape it starts to come off when you get sweaty and I knew we would be dancing. Before the party my bfff an I met up with my manger and his wife for dinner and right before we left dinner I went to the ladies room to re-tape a little before heading to the party. Once in a stall I realized I was completely taped to my chest, and wearing a romper. THERE WAS NO GETTING OUT OF IT, which meant no bathroom for me! Um I was slightly panicked as I feel I may have the smallest bladder in the world. I felt slightly dumb for not thinking of that before making this wardrobe choice.

I ended up getting through it though and we had a lot of fun. We rolled in at about 9:45pm, got some drinks, took photos in the photo booth, danced. THEN at 11pm a surprise guest appeared… SNOOP DOGG! Last year Nelly performed but we were thinking no one would be there this year since we were having “celebrity DJs” which I had no idea who they were. Snoop was fun and we danced to his show for an hour. Once he finished we decided to leave but not before we got a picture with the former Angel player Hank Conger! All in all, a great and eventful night, I just love being able to dress up.

Little Black Dress

I love dresses but I don’t wear them all that often, especially not to work. I have long legs so it can be hard to find one that is an appropriate length for the office. I think it was back around the time of the Nordstrom sale that I saw a TON of bloggers all wearing the same dress. I checked it out and found it was by Leith, a ruched body-con. I looked at it A LOT before I finally bought it. It comes in a handful of colors but all of the ones I wanted were sold out in my size, so I settled with black (if you know me you know I don’t usually go for black). In this case though I am so happy I did! I can totally see why all of those bloggers I saw were obsessed with this dress because now I am. It is just perfect, there is no better description. The length is perfect for work, despite that fact that it is a body-con it isn’t your usual super tight dress so check the box again for work appropriate. The ruching in the front lets you not worry about any body issues like sucking it in all day or muffin tops, and the little V in the front adds just a little bit of sexy to it. I have paired it with flats/mules, heels, and over the knee boots like I did below. I have also topped it off with a blazer, and I have tried a knit sweater, again below. It is just perfect like I said and I cant wait to get it in another color. I also saw they have the same dress but with long sleeves, that is obviously on my wish list now.

Check it out below! (PS- I haven’t worn this necklace since my sister’s wedding in June and I do not know why because it is AMAZING! She got it for me from Baublebar for my Maid of Honor gift. Be prepared to see it more often!)
