THE Pants

Here I go with these pants again! It has been a while so I was due anyways right? These are my FAVORITE work pants! I always say it but I am so happy I bought these.  I had one outfit in mind when I bought them, only one! Which wasn’t the smartest idea considering how much they costed, but I am so happy I convinced myself to splurge. My newest pairing is with my chambray collard button up from Target! I feel a tad 80/90’s mom in this but I think that is just my new jam: mom jeans, high waist, tons of colors, all of the above.

Anyways I do not know why I didn’t think about my chambray top with these pants before. Maybe I thought the colors would be too much, but really, is denim even a color? When you consider denim pants then they are kind of “colorless” right? Because we all (usually) say anything goes with denim. I definitely do not think a normal long sleeve button up chambray would go, but the sleeveless worked perfectly. If you have any other ideas for these pants let me know because I think I am finally running out of ideas…

Links! Soo, these pants are long gone, and I can’t find anything super similar BUT PLEASE LOOK AT HOW CUTE THESE ONES ARE! They are Topshop from Nordstrom and are most definitely on my wishlist now. Topshop Belted Stripe Roll-Cuff TrousersTop from Who What Wear from Target linked here but it is on clearance and mostly sold out so a new similar one is linked here.

The Blogger Dress

My sister Tabitha and I have come to call this dress “the blogger dress”. It earned its name when the last Nordstrom anniversary sale happened. The dress wasn’t on sale but almost ALL of the bloggers we follow were wearing and talking about this dress by Leith. When I finally went to Nordstrom to try it on I understood why. This is probably the best dress I have ever owned. All the other bloggers kept talking about how great the fit was and how the ruching in the front covers any bloating or lack of abs. They were absolutely right. I feel so comfortable and good in this dress. It is long enough for work but still short enough to dress it up to go out. The crossed V front makes it a little sexy without being inappropriate. The best part is I feel like I can be relaxed in it and not worry about sucking it in all night or pulling it down so my butt doesn’t show like in a typical body-con. I am tall, like around 5’8″, and I can still wear a small in this dress and not worry about it being short. I already have it in black and this peach color, but I still want to get it in the navy… and possibly the green. It is just so versatile! It can seriously be worn for any occasion. Like below I just wore it with cheetah espadrille mules from Target to keep it casual to walk around Fremont Street. If you are looking for a good fitted dress I promise you, go try this on and you’ll probably want to buy it.

Bringing Cacti to the Office

It was only a matter of time before I brought my love of cacti into my office wardrobe, I was just waiting until I found the perfect way. I had seen a couple cactus tops but they were all kind of pricey. Finally, thanks to a blogger I follow on insta, The Sister Studio, I found a cactus print button up from Old Navy that full price is $26.99 and I got it on sale for 40% off. Score!

Although I could wear this classic button up by itself will slacks, that just seemed a little boring. I have a yellow blazer I got from one of the $10 stores in downtown Palm Springs that I haven’t worn yet. I figured now that it is spring, it would be the perfect addition to my cactus outfit. It actually worked great together! The cactus print is pretty small and spread out so it wasn’t too loud with a bright yellow blazer. I just paired my navy slacks with it but really I could wear either my navy, black, or gray. On the weekend I am excited to try my button up with a pair of high waist denim shorts and sandals or wedges (well before it gets too hot to wear a three quarter length sleeve outside in the sun). Find the top linked here!

Happy Monday! Sorry I have been slacking on the work outfits post, I have just been doing so many fun things on the weekend! I will plan some more, promise!

Red Stripes

I took a stroll through the Target clothing section, against my better judgment, and of course I found something. The seasons are finally changing in store so all the new merch is coming out. I love when the seasons change and seeing what the new styles will be. The second I saw just the pattern of this top I grabbed it off the rack. I was so excited when I saw the puffy shoulders! I tried it on and was sold, of course it’s by one of my favorite lines at Target, Who What Wear. It was one of those tops that you know exactly what you were going to pair it with, like my high waist, raw hem, mom jeans from Topshop (yes the label says “mom”). It came out so cute! I was worried the top would look weird tucked in because it is kind of boxy but it looked great. Of course when I wore it to work yesterday I wore black slacks with it untucked and that looked cute too.

Check it out!

Little Ruffles

This is my THIRD post about a ruffle top! Convinced I am obsessed yet? I absolutely love the little dainty ruffles down the front of this button up blouse from Target (unfortunately it is sold out because I bought it a little while ago). The little ruffles give it just enough fun detail without being too much. Target’s new brand, A New Day, in my opinion is doing really well. I can always find something I like and the price point is great. When I saw the pieces coming out I thought they would cost more but they are around the same price or even cheaper than some of the other Target brands.

I paired this top with my Topshop high waist black cigarette pants from Nordstrom (which I seem to be pairing with everything lately). One thing I love about this pants is that they make your waist look so tiny! This combo made a great work outfit. I finished it off with my red Steve Madden heels and a red lip for a pop of color.  The only thing I do not care for on this shirt is that the sides come up high almost like a slit. This makes it to where you have to wear higher waisted pants whether you tuck it in or not because then your stomach shows, which is not really appropriate for the office.

Check it out! 🙂

Plaid Ruffles!

Topshop High Waist Cigarette TrousersAre you seeing the reoccurring theme yet with these ruffles? Basically I am obsessed and I really hope they do not got out of style soon because I am far too invested at this point. I saw this cute plaid and ruffle top when I was walking around BP at Nordstrom and I was instantly in love. Sometimes I reflect on the styles I am drawn to today and think of how I would have never thought twice about it back in high school or the beginning of college. This is one of those moments. The ruffles on this top are so prominent and I love them. Back then I would have laughed and agreed with my boyfriend when he called me a linebacker… like I said on Instagram, boys know nothing. *Insert Bride Wars quote “What do they teach boys in school?!”

Anyways, this top is different and I love it. The colors are very in with the holiday spirit so I am happy that we are past Halloween and I can finally wear it. Plus it has actually, for the most part, been cool enough to wear it. I saw it at Nordstrom, thought about it nonstop for like three days and bought it before I regretted it. It was my “congratulations you have been at your new job a year” gift. It was a splurge and I bought it full price. Of course NOW it is on sale for 40% off, but you know what? I wanted it to much I’m not even that mad about it.

I love that it can be worn casually or dressed up. This past Saturday I paired it with my high waist Topshop Jamies and my over the knee tan boots from Target (dv for Target last year) and I loved it. This may sound weird but you know when you are rocking an outfit that most people would say they couldn’t pull off, it just makes you feel cooler? That was me and I relished in it.

On the dressed up end for work, I paired it with my, again, high waist Topshop cigarette trousers, my red bow heels from Steve Madden (older), and a red lip. I thought it was fun to bring out the red in the top. The perfect pairing yet again! I am just so obsessed. I will link all pieces below but if you like it go check it out because I do not know how long the sale lasts. Embrace the ruffle movement with me! 😉

Month Long Challenge, Style, the.B.Law

Bell Sleeves and Embroidery

Yesterday my old roomie/best friend/sorority sister/and the.B.Law style panelist Heather and I started a month long challenge. In this challenge we are on wallet lockdown. There will be no purchasing of unnecessary items ESPECIALLY clothing. We also have to wear a different outfit everyday with no repeats, creating new looks with the clothes we already have in our closets. Now to be honest, 30 days of new outfits doesn’t fully intimidate me. I am not one for outfit repeating and I know Heather isn’t either. There are days though where I wake up late and just go for something safe, that I know works. This challenge is starting off at a month to make me be creative everyday and could very well continue to an additional month. We will see!

Anyways, today is day 2 and here is my look! I saw this embroidered, button up, striped, bell sleeve top and thought it was weird yet I was strangely fascinated by it. I literally walked back up to it in Target two more times after I first saw it. I remembered a skirt from BooHoo I wanted and thought it might be the perfect pair for this top. I left and didn’t buy it. I had to see if I would still think about it after I left (that is how I really know I want something). I looked up the skirt again on BooHoo and was sold. I ordered the skirt and went to Target the next day to get the shirt. Well the skirt came in and was entirely too small so I had to make an online return, which honestly I have always been terrified to make for some odd reason but it turned out to be so easy that I felt silly. FINALLY I got the new skirt it and it fit! Note about the skirt, it does not stretch so although it may fit around your waist your leg spread really isn’t all that wide. Not that you should really need it to be but its not, and I walk fast and I don’t feel like my legs have the proper speed potential. That sounds totally ridiculous and can totally go off in a bad direction so moving on… The color of the skirt isn’t quite the same pink as in the embroidery but I really like it together. Check it out below!
