PSA: Fave Dress On Sale!!

You probably know that my favorite dress is the ruched body-con by Leith from Nordstrom, considering I have five different colors. I’ve said before that I call it the blogger dress because like all of the bloggers have it, and I’m totally okay and open to admitting that I jumped right on that band wagon and I don’t care! It’s such an amazing dress and makes you look so good. I love that you can wear it to work and for going out. It’s so classy yet still sexy with the wrap type bottom.

Well… I now have six of them and most likely will be adding my seventh, but with good reason! There are ten colors on sale right now!! I just added this bright coral, or as it’s called “Pink Teaberry”, and I’m so excited. Pantone’s color of 2019 is “Living Coral” so I am just getting a head start on this soon to be growing trend. Now the “living” part of living coral is unclear to me… as in coral before it dies when it is brought out of the water? Does that mean faded or dull coral should be called dead coral? I will research and report back, but regardless, I’m stoked it is bright coral.

I wore this dress to my sister-in-law’s bridal shower this past Sunday. We were on balloon duty so naturally I took advantage and snapped a photo with all 30 balloons because 1- they were pretty colors, and 2- I had 30 balloons sooo why not.

Go check out the colors on sale, I promise you won’t regret it! The long sleeve version is on sale too in some colors I’ve linked those too!

Green is My Color!

I have been SO OBSESSED with this emerald/forest green color this season! So much so I keep having to tell myself no when I try to buy ANOTHER piece in this color. I have a blazer and high waist, wide leg pants, but I also want a sweater now… In reality, how many pieces in the same color is acceptable to have?

I think I need to limit myself because the blazer and the pants are definitely statement pieces. I have gotten a ton of compliments on both, and both are super comfy because they are over-sized. I prefer the looser blazers that do not have shoulder pads. Fitted blazers can be so restricting, and I have been loving pairing them over a casual outfit and adding heels like I did below. Jeans, a graphic tee, blazer, and booties or heels just looks so chic. Mixing style genres (is that the right term?) is so fun and kind of edgy. I also like that it is not my usual style. One of my co-workers told me she couldn’t figure out my style and I took it as such a compliment!

Both of these pieces are also great as your one pop of color with an all black outfit, the blazer especially. For work I would do a black blouse, black ankle slacks, the blazer, gold accessories, and either black or leopard shoes (heels or flats – preferably mules/slides).

Check them out below! To be honest, I am most likely going to buy a sweater still… I just love the color with my red hair. Stay tuned! Styles linked below:

Wide Leg Pants

Although I was hesitant at first, I have finally given into the wide leg pant trend, but so far ONLY for work pants. I have seen a few bloggers wear some fun colored ones and I was drawn to the style. I found a pair of beautiful emerald green ones at Nordstrom and had to have them. I kind of felt weird at first and then got strangely confident in them, they were so cute and everyone at work loved them! Like my last post Investment Pants, these too were an investment, but they seem like a nice quality and I have already worn them twice. This pair by Leith, comes in four different colors. I really, REALLY wanted the pink as well but my first “investment pants” are pink so I figured I shouldn’t. BUT! The Nordstrom Fall Sale is on and these pants are part of it and under $50 right now so you can bet your bottom dollar I got them and I am so excited to wear them! It is spirit week at work this week so I have to wait until next but that is okay. I am also super obsessed with the black top I wore with the pink pants. It is on sale for $15. I actually bought the gray one last week and liked it so much I went back for the black.

All items linked below! The flower top is sold out but I linked the the black top in the gray because I love them!:

The Blogger Dress

My sister Tabitha and I have come to call this dress “the blogger dress”. It earned its name when the last Nordstrom anniversary sale happened. The dress wasn’t on sale but almost ALL of the bloggers we follow were wearing and talking about¬†this dress by Leith. When I finally went to Nordstrom to try it on I understood why. This is probably the best dress I have ever owned. All the other bloggers kept talking about how great the fit was and how the ruching in the front covers any bloating or lack of abs. They were absolutely right. I feel so comfortable and good in this dress. It is long enough for work but still short enough to dress it up to go out. The crossed V front makes it a little sexy without being inappropriate. The best part is I feel like I can be relaxed in it and not worry about sucking it in all night or pulling it down so my butt doesn’t show like in a typical body-con. I am tall, like around 5’8″, and I can still wear a small in this dress and not worry about it being short. I already have it in black and this peach color, but I still want to get it in the navy… and possibly the green. It is just so versatile! It can seriously be worn for any occasion. Like below I just wore it with cheetah espadrille mules from Target to keep it casual to walk around Fremont Street. If you are looking for a good fitted dress I promise you, go try this on and you’ll probably want to buy it.

Stripes on Stripes

I love experimenting with pattern mixing, but sometimes when people think of pattern mixing they do not think of mixing two of the same kinds. In this outfit I chose to mix two different vertical¬†stripes. This cannot work with¬†just ANY¬†or ALL striped pieces so be cautious with your choice. My pants¬†are navy with thin, spaced out¬†double white¬†pinstripes. Although they have plenty of stripes, they are subtle enough to not be over powering. From afar they can almost pass as solid navy.¬†My top is white and gray stripes with no extra spacing. This worked well because the colors weren’t standing out or fighting for attention. The gray and white almost blur together where a white and black stripe or other bright or dark color would pop too much and not mesh with the stripes on the pants. I was sure to keep the whole outfit on the gray/dark tone side.

Now I am not usually one to wear dark colors or outfits. I wear them and I do like them, I just mostly end up leaning towards colors. When I do wear a darker outfit I like to add some kind of pop of color or in this case flare. To not be completely dark with this ensemble, I added my very shiny, rose gold Steve Madden DAISIE pumps and a statement necklace that was gold with pinkish stones. This way my metals (mostly) matched and added some kind of shine. Something had to stand out! It is fun to add bright shoes to a dark outfit, that way they are your statement piece. I actually think I built this outfit around the shoes. Statement pieces do not just have to be around your neck in a necklace form, they can be any piece of your outfit, shoes, accessories, handbag, blazer, etc. This was a fun way to spice up a work outfit, I got a lot of compliments in the office.

Do you have any pattern mixing success stories? I always feel like a winner when I pull one off! Do you get the same vibes?

Little Black Dress

I love dresses but I don’t wear them all that often, especially not to work. I have long legs so it can be hard to find one that is an appropriate length for the office. I think it was back around the time of the Nordstrom sale that I saw a TON of bloggers all wearing the same dress. I checked it out and¬†found it was¬†by Leith, a ruched body-con. I looked at it A LOT before I finally bought it. It comes in¬†a handful of colors but all of the ones I wanted were sold out in my size, so I settled with black (if you know me you know I don’t¬†usually go for black). In this case though I am so¬†happy I did! I can totally see why all of those bloggers I saw were obsessed with this dress because now I am. It is just perfect, there is¬†no better description. The length is perfect for work, despite that fact that it is a body-con it isn’t your usual super tight dress so check the box again for work appropriate. The ruching in the front lets you not worry about any body issues like sucking it in all day or muffin tops, and the little V in the front adds just a little bit of sexy to it. I have paired it with flats/mules, heels, and over the knee boots like I did below. I have also topped it off with a blazer, and I have tried a knit sweater, again below. It is just perfect like I said and I cant wait to get it in another color. I also saw they have the same dress but with long sleeves, that is obviously on my wish list now.

Check it out below! (PS- I haven’t worn this necklace since my sister’s wedding in June and I do not know why because it is AMAZING! She got it for me from Baublebar for my Maid of Honor gift. Be prepared to see it more often!)
