Green is My Color!

I have been SO OBSESSED with this emerald/forest green color this season! So much so I keep having to tell myself no when I try to buy ANOTHER piece in this color. I have a blazer and high waist, wide leg pants, but I also want a sweater now… In reality, how many pieces in the same color is acceptable to have?

I think I need to limit myself because the blazer and the pants are definitely statement pieces. I have gotten a ton of compliments on both, and both are super comfy because they are over-sized. I prefer the looser blazers that do not have shoulder pads. Fitted blazers can be so restricting, and I have been loving pairing them over a casual outfit and adding heels like I did below. Jeans, a graphic tee, blazer, and booties or heels just looks so chic. Mixing style genres (is that the right term?) is so fun and kind of edgy. I also like that it is not my usual style. One of my co-workers told me she couldn’t figure out my style and I took it as such a compliment!

Both of these pieces are also great as your one pop of color with an all black outfit, the blazer especially. For work I would do a black blouse, black ankle slacks, the blazer, gold accessories, and either black or leopard shoes (heels or flats – preferably mules/slides).

Check them out below! To be honest, I am most likely going to buy a sweater still… I just love the color with my red hair. Stay tuned! Styles linked below:

Bringing Cacti to the Office

It was only a matter of time before I brought my love of cacti into my office wardrobe, I was just waiting until I found the perfect way. I had seen a couple cactus tops but they were all kind of pricey. Finally, thanks to a blogger I follow on insta, The Sister Studio, I found a cactus print button up from Old Navy that full price is $26.99 and I got it on sale for 40% off. Score!

Although I could wear this classic button up by itself will slacks, that just seemed a little boring. I have a yellow blazer I got from one of the $10 stores in downtown Palm Springs that I haven’t worn yet. I figured now that it is spring, it would be the perfect addition to my cactus outfit. It actually worked great together! The cactus print is pretty small and spread out so it wasn’t too loud with a bright yellow blazer. I just paired my navy slacks with it but really I could wear either my navy, black, or gray. On the weekend I am excited to try my button up with a pair of high waist denim shorts and sandals or wedges (well before it gets too hot to wear a three quarter length sleeve outside in the sun). New Spring Outfit!

I love when you see an outfit you want to recreate, and then you successfully do it! I was on the Bloguettes’ website and saw it, a blue and white thin striped button up, with a tan blazer, and white pants, simple. I thought how great it would be for work, so different than the usual black, gray, or navy slacks. Spring is Monday and it’s time to brighten things up! I already had white pants (they are technically jeans so I need to invest in some white slacks) and a tan blazer, I just needed the button up. Strolling through Target, I found it! When I put the whole combo on together it looked even better than I thought. I like that both the button up and the blazer are kind of oversized, although I do want to find a normal length tan blazer, any suggestions?! I could probably hide the fact that these are jeans at work but I’ll just keep it as a casual Friday outfit until I get slacks.

Hope you like it! Happy weekend!

Loose Peplum

I remember when I first got into peplum tops. It was probably about three years ago when I still worked in retail, I bought two different tops. Most of the peplum tops that came out were similar, usually fitted and on the shorter side, they came right to the top of your pants. Those aren’t my style anymore and I haven’t seen much of them around either. There is a new style I am getting behind though, loose and long peplum tops. My bfffff got me this light blush top for my birthday from Target. The peplum detail of this top is so subtle I almost didn’t realize it was that style at all. I love the fact that it is loose and flows, and is also long and covers up the top of your pants.

For work I wore this top with a pair of black slacks and heels, keeping it simple, but to add a little more I topped it with one of my favorite blazers. It is heather gray, oversized (boyfriend blazer), and stands out. It all went well together and was comfy. This top is also great with jeans and can be worn casually, the buttons and the pockets on the front help make it not too dressy. Lastly I LOVE the color. I am having a serious obsession with blush right now. Pink is one of my favorite colors but for some reason I never really had a lot of pink clothes, but lately I have noticed a growing section of blush in my closet. The majority of my recent additions have been blush so stay tuned for a few more!

Well Hello There 90’s

We always see styles recycle and different trends come circling back around. Last year, and still remaining in this year was a lot of 70’s, hippie, flower child, looks of flairs and florals. This year we are seeing some 90’s trends.

Exhibit A: the choker

I maybe only wore a choker once or twice back in the day and when they came back recently I rolled my eyes and thought why? As usual, the more and more you see a trend the more you kind of want to try it. So I found a dainty, scalloped lace black choker on sale at Nordstrom for $5 and thought what the heck. Turns out, I love it! That doesn’t mean I am all gong-ho about all chokers, I am drawn more to the thin styles. I want a choker to be an accent and enhancer to an outfit, not be drastic and draw all the attention. Adding a thin choker to a casual outfit, like I did here with a v-neck, adds just enough to make it look stylish and not just thrown on. I wasn’t intending to wear a blazer with this outfit, I only brought it because I needed a jacket and I ended up liking the whole combo. I think I have mentioned before how I like throwing a blazer over a casual outfit like a tee but I especially like this one because it is a boyfriend blazer and fits looser.

Exhibit B: thick soled sneaks

Now another trend I have noticed is thick soled sneakers. Again I was against this, until I saw the right ones for me, and now I have two pairs. I got them from Target (of course), they are from the dv line. The first pair I bought are a peach color which you will see here soon enough, and the second pair that I am wearing below my old roomie got for me for my birthday. They are so cute, I already have summer outfits planned which require cut off shorts and a tan (perfect for my vacation in June!). What’s even better is they are only $29.99 and run true to size. Want to know a secret? Shoes are 25% off on the Target Cartwheel app until Monday! I tried linking these for you here but I cannot find them online, BUT I was at Target today and I saw them there still.

Check it out and happy weekend!

Navy Stripes and Everything Nice!

Yesterday I finally got to wear my other outfit I got as my “congratulations you got yourself a new job, you deserve this” purchase. I have been waiting to wear this one! Of course again it is from Maison Jules at Macy’s (I told you I was obsessed), but the pants are Old Navy. You may recognize this ruffle-hem top because I posted about the polkadot one on my first day of work. It was so cute I had to buy two. They are simple, girly, and comfy, and you can wear them with jeans too to be casual. The navy striped blazer is the most comfortable blazer I have ever worn! A lot of blazers, at least in my experience can be restricting, but this one is so stretchy it’s awesome. I was so comfortable all day which is great for the office. The pants are my new Pixie mid-rise ankle pants from Old Navy, these are so comfy too! I usually buy my ankle pants from Target but I think I actually like these better… shh don’t tell Target.

Lastly, I just can’t get over these flats, they just make such a statement I wear them every chance I get! They are plum, pointed, and have crossing ankle straps, basically the equation of perfection. If I haven’t mentioned before they are from Forever 21.

Ruffle-Hem Top in Cherry Plum – Maison Jules | Three-Quarter-Sleeve Knit Blazer in Navy Stone Combo – Maison Jules | Pixie Mid-Rise Ankle Pants in Black – Old Navy | Ankle-Strap Flats (similar linked- they didn’t have this color online) – Forever 21

Oversized Blazer!

Sorry this is a late post, I have been a little under the weather, but feeling better now! Anyways, I was just talking to someone last week while wearing my oversized tan blazer, about wanting a gray or a black oversized blazer. Well over the weekend I went to G Stage with my sister and saw one on a mannequin! It was love at first sight. I tried it on and was instantly sold, and get this… it was only $17.99! I was even more sold after seeing the price tag. I can’t wait for all of the other outfits I can create with this! This one is just the beginning!

Classy Country

I have been loving this cold weather, please keep it coming! (Even though it is supposed to be warmer this weekend, boo) Lately I haven’t been picking out my outfits the night before which is bad. If I don’t pick my outfit out the night before I’m either running late to work or end up in an outfit I do not care for. I thought of this one as I was drifting off to sleep last night. I remembered my roomie gave me an oversized tan blazer she didn’t want anymore because she had another one that was too similar. I figured why not pair it with a flannel (from Target of course) and boots and look what happened, it was cute! Perfect for being casual in the office yet somewhat dressy.

Heels All Day

I bought these super cute heels by Steve Madden off of 6PM.com forever ago. Want to see how long ago? Let me check……. this long ago, I wrote this post when I got them, Tragic Shopping, on April 29, 2015! That was five months ago! These poor babies have been stuck in a dusty old box. That ended today! I had been waiting for the perfect time to wear them, finally I just decided I was going to wear them to work. After all, they are work appropriate, and not to mention fun! I said recently in my First Day of Fall post that I hoped wearing my black heels (also from my Tragic Shopping post) with the shorter, thick heel could be my transition into wearing heels to work, I’ve always wanted to do that, I know I am silly. I think it is working though!

Well to the point, I paired my tan suede and snake skin pumps with dark cuffed skinny jeans, a plain high neck gray tank, a blush blazer, and a gold statement necklace. So easy, yet so put together. It was a casual way to wear the heels without looking too dressed up. I did predictably get the look of why are you wearing heels, and also asked why I wear them when I am already tall. Yes I am tall and have always been slightly self conscious about it, but I am trying to own it now. If I want to wear heels then I will and pretend I am just a model and won’t care what everyone else thinks! Easier said than done, but I am practicing! Check it out!

PS- If you hadn’t guessed by the title, I wore these heels ALL DAY! Yeah I am pretty proud of myself.

Casual Friday

Yesterday I decided to be comfy for Friday and be a little patriotic! Boyfriend jeans are probably my favorite. They are loose and comfy, yet still look cute. I paired them with a loose, red stripped tee. These together alone is a pretty causal outfit, to dress it up a little for work though I added a bronze statement necklace and a navy blazer. All together it makes a comfy, cute, and effortless outfit!

Jeans, tee, and blazer are all from  Forever 21, while the necklace is from Charming Charlie
