New Flannel!

My oh my it is so easy to fall off the wagon. I got behind in blog planning and then wasn’t feeling well and then next thing I knew I was behind! I refuse to fall back into bad habits of being inconsistent. Ever since I got my calendar dedicated for blog content planning my world has changed! I try to plan for two weeks at a time. I think I will do a separate post on planning later. Anyways, I am back!

Now that is it FINALLY starting to feel like fall, despite it getting warmer again this week, I am finally breaking out the flannels! Even though I do not need anymore, every year I manage to buy at least one new flannel, I can’t help it! When I cleaned out my closet this past spring I ended up getting rid of like 5 flannels and still had 3 left over. Serious issues.

I usually get my flannels from Target, but so far this year I bought a new one from the Nordstrom Anniversary sale from BP. It is so soft! I love that it is thin, it makes it much easier to wear and layer in SoCal. I went for this one because I really wanted a black and white pattern. I always end up with colors which is fine, but I think this combo is much more versatile, plus I love being able to pair with olive and mustard sweaters or pants, or really any color sweater like the pink I added below.

Flannels are great in the fall and winter because they are so easy to look put together. You can wear it by itself, with a sweater/blazer/cardigan/leather jacket over it, or even as an add on and tie it around your waist. What is your favorite way to style a flannel?

Flannels and Fall

Fall is finally here! I want to jump for sweet cinnamon joy into a pile of freshly raked leaves. I bought a new flannel from Target a few weeks ago and have been waiting until yesterday to wear it. I also refused to get a Pumpkin Spice Latte until it was officially Fall, so yesterday was a great day, I wore my flannel and got a PSL. Now it’s time to get some new Fall decorations and impatiently wait for cooler weather. There are so many outfits I want to wear but it’s still too hot! Such a southern Cali struggle right? I want a scarf and knee high socks stat.

I am sooo in love with this flannel because the colors are perfect for this new season. I already have my next outfit planned for it too. Flannels are great because they are casual, yet you can dress them up for the office. Like yesterday I wore them with my navy Maison Jules skinny ankle slacks. You can also tuck them into high waist pants, and my personal favorite (that I didn’t do this time) is add a statement necklace under the collar. Also did you see my new heels again? See I told you I’d be wearing them a lot. Lastly this purse is amazing and perfect and was only like $30 from Charming Charlie.  Check it out!

Happy Friday!

Red, White, and Plaid!

I went shopping a few weeks ago with my bffffff and we put together the cutest outfit for her for work at Target! I loved it so much I wanted it too so she got me a Target gift card for my birthday. Our favorite work pants (yes I say “our” because we basically have everything the same) are the ankle slacks from Target and they keep coming out with new colors. I have five pairs now and there are still a couple colors I want. Anyways they got these new bright red ones in! They aren’t quite red red, more of a neon red, they are actually called “orange spark”. We grabbed those and then saw a flannel that was red, white, and blue, but the red was the smallest part and was bright enough to match the pants. We held the top up to the pants and fell in love instantly! We both thought of pairing it with our brown oxfords and a brown belt. Boom! You have a work attire outfit that is still casual. Look how cute it is!

Classy Country

I have been loving this cold weather, please keep it coming! (Even though it is supposed to be warmer this weekend, boo) Lately I haven’t been picking out my outfits the night before which is bad. If I don’t pick my outfit out the night before I’m either running late to work or end up in an outfit I do not care for. I thought of this one as I was drifting off to sleep last night. I remembered my roomie gave me an oversized tan blazer she didn’t want anymore because she had another one that was too similar. I figured why not pair it with a flannel (from Target of course) and boots and look what happened, it was cute! Perfect for being casual in the office yet somewhat dressy.

Make a Statement in Plaid

Although it was 100 degrees today I couldn’t wait to wear my new outfit. I got this adorable flannel at Target a week ago and instantly knew when I saw it that I wanted to wear it with my navy ankle slacks. This way I could mix casual and work attire together. Pairing it with my brown oxfords topped it off as a total Spencer Hastings outfit. I told you I’m the Spencer. The slightly matching big statement necklace tied the whole outfit together. Don’t you think?
