LA Fashion and Sad Noodles

I don’t know if it is something in the air or not, but lately (actually more last week when I started writing this) I have been a sad noodle. I didn’t know what that fabulous phrase was until my little sister told me she was a sad noodle and continued to explain she meant meh, like in a funk. Then my other little sister said she was feeling meh so I graced her vocabulary with sad noodle. Now the three of us are sad noodles together, because being a sad noodle is at least better with other sad noodles. Okay I think I have said sad noodle enough times for you to want to use it too.

I am not entirely sure why I have been meh, but I think I might have an idea. I came to the realization the other day that I’m not in a state of feeling left out, but a constant state of feeling left behind. This all circles back to the comparison trap. So many of my friends and people I know are moving on with their lives, getting married, buying houses, while I am doing none of the above. WHICH IS OKAY. I have to remind myself I am not them. It is just something that gets you down every now and then you know? This week I feel much more neutral about the whole thing. I have noticed the sad noodle phase comes after a really fun weekend when the high is gone. I think I will go into this more later when I can gather my thoughts better.

ANYWAYS it has been so long since I have done a style post. I find myself missing it. Maybe that is something that will help get me out of this bowl of sad noods, actually writing for fun again. My girlfriend Maria and I went to LA a few weeks ago to just be general basics and it was so fun! I made sure I made an “LA style” outfit. By that I mean something I’d want to wear but am not brave enough to wear just around anywhere. I feel like LA is where you can try any fashion out and literally no one cares.

So I put together what I thought was kind of dressy and kind of edgy (I really dig these kinds of looks right now). I paired my leopard midi-dress under a tied up graphic tee and white booties. I was strangely excited to wear this outfit, it was totally out of my norm and I relished in it. It made me remember how much I love dressing up and making new looks. I am really hoping to create some actual content soon, thank you for being patient with me.

Until then, enjoy the look and find the links below! The top is older so I am linking a few other graphic tees (I am OBSESSED with graphic tees right now who am I?!)

Fall Preview!

I feel like I am pretty much ready for fall colors. I love the transitional pieces that you can still (most) wear in summer but will be perfect for fall LIKE THESE BOOTIES!

img_7623

I got them from the Nordstrom Anniversary sale and it wasn’t an easy task. They didn’t have them in my stores and my size sold out online. I had them on my wishlist and I literally stalked them multiple times a day checking the sizes. Finally I saw a 7.5 was back and I ordered it so fast! When I got the shipping confirmation I knew it was for real. You know how sometimes when there are limited sizes you can order something and then you get that really depressing email that it was actually sold out and you’re getting a refund? That is what I was worried about. BUT I WON! They are Kristin Cavallari and I love them! They are surprisingly light weight and really comfortable. I know I will be wearing them a lot this fall, they will go with almost everything! Linked down below!

As for this polkadot top, I saw it on an Old Navy email and was in love! It is perfect for work wear and for a causal look. I found these black jeans at Old Navy too. I liked the high waist and the slightly faded black, but I was a little hesitant about the “straight leg” bottom. I wanted to wear this outfit with my booties but didn’t know if that would look funny. I decided to just go for it and I actually liked it. I think the released hem helped.

I feel like something is happening to me… I am liking black! It is not that I do not like black, I am just always more drawn to colors but this fall I think I am really going to invest in some good black pieces, the looks are just so chic!

See the look below and all items linked! PS – my post on Friday will be about my super cute wood watch and my giveaway link will be up again! Stay tuned!

Pink Chambray

Occasionally, as in more than I should, I stroll through the clothes section of Target. The other day I passed through and didn’t really see anything that I liked. It is hard when the seasons are changing and stores are redoing their entire floor set. I decided I was being good not finding anything and started to walk away… until I came across this dress! Pink chambray, how perfect is it? I grabbed one off the rack and didn’t even try it on, just went to the check out.

This dress is the perfect shade of pink and goes perfectly with all tans and browns. This time I paired my chestnut booties from Steve Madden (clearly my new favs since they are in most of my recent posts) but next I can even try my tan heels to make it more business casual for work. You can even add a sweater or a denim jacket to add more. I can’t wait to wear this again! I’m thinking this weekend with the sun coming out! (I am having trouble finding it online to link it but I will try looking again tonight!)

Last Pair of Booties

This is my last pair of booties for this year I promise! I didn’t have this color yet and obviously I needed it, you can’t go wrong with chestnut brown. These particular booties have been on my radar for quite some time, like months. I was looking for a tan pair and found these ones by Steve Madden on Macy’s. They are called the PIERCE. I thought they were so perfect, except they weren’t on sale. Full price they are $129 and since they were Steve Madden and not Madden Girl my coupons didn’t work. So I waited and would occasionally check. I even tried to find other tan ones and couldn’t find any others as good as the PIERCE. When I checked another time THEY WERE OUT OF MY SIZE. They still weren’t on sale but if I wanted to buy them anyways I couldn’t! I was so sad, like way more sad about a pair of shoes than I should have been.

I still didn’t give up though, I kept checking. I even started checking Nordstrom, which had them in my size but not on sale. I checked and checked and checked and NO LUCK! I stopped checking for awhile, I was discouraged, but right before Christmas I was browsing online at Nordstrom like I shouldn’t have been and checked for the booties. Oh my gosh they had my size, in the chestnut, for 40% off!! I instantly bought them. They were supposed to deliver on Christmas Eve and we weren’t going to be home so I had them deliver to my sisters since I would see her. Well they delivered 2 days before Christmas Eve (figures) and when we all got together for Christmas day guess what? My sister forgot them! So late Christmas night I had to go to her house on the way home to get them. Seems like a lot of trouble for shoes right? Well get this, they didn’t even fit! Not kidding! I’m ALWAYS a 7.5 in Steve Madden so that’s what I ordered. These booties are so narrow in the toes they were too tight! I was so mad it was actually kind of funny.

I returned the booties and luckily they were still on sale when I ordered an 8 and thank goodness Nordstrom does free shipping. So there they were ordered. When I went to check the tracking when I got the notification I saw that I forgot to change the shipping address from my sister’s house to my place so AGAIN I had to wait. Finally I got them this past Friday and can’t wait to wear them this week!

See, this shows that when you want something you don’t give up!

Sadly I just tried to link these and they are all sold out online!

Fringe on Fringe!

So as we all know fringe is pretty popular right now. These taupe fringe Steve Madden booties are my absolute favorite. I surprised myself with how much I have worn them since I bought them in November. I love how the fringe just adds a little extra to outfits. Last month I was browsing Old Navy online (like I shouldn’t have been) and came across a loose tee with fringe trim going across it in three rows. They had a gray with cream fringe and a cream with cream fringe, that is the one I wanted the “Creme de la Creme”. I went into Old Navy and looked every where for this top and I couldn’t find it! So I did what I hated when I worked in retail, I showed an associate the picture and asked if they had anymore! Ugh I know so shameful, but the girl said she knew where it was! Even better, it was on clearance for $7.49!! It was so meant to be. So of course I bought it. It is perfect for a casual and effortless outfit that is still super cute. Hope you like it! Go fringe!

Who – What – Wear – PINK!

Remember my second to last post Red, White, and Plaid! when I talked about loving the ankle slacks from Target? Welllll I got another pair… But I had to! They’re PINK! They don’t sell this color in the store so I had to order them. They came in Friday so OF COURSE I had to wear them to work today! I am also in love with this new striped tank I got to go with them. It’s also from Target but from the WhoWhatWear line. It’s the perfect shape and is a light chiffon material but not so see through where you have to worry about wearing something underneath. I paired this combo with a black statement necklace from Charming Charlie and my peep toe booties from G Stage. It is my new favorite outfit right now!

Joggers

So I do not know why I have never worn joggers before today. They are the most comfortable things ever! I felt like I was wearing pajamas in disguise to work today. It was like I fooled everyone at the office into thinking I was wearing real pants. I have had these babies for TWO MONTHS and have not worn them until today. They had been hanging in my closet collecting dust. I finally decided I had to wear them and looked on Pinterst to find an outfit idea. I saw one I liked and BOOM, recreated it with what I had (I love being able to do that). Black joggers that I got on Black Friday from Target, a loose black and white stripped v-neck tee, an olive jacket, and my taupe, tassel Steve Madden booties. The perfect outfit for a Monday and oh so comfy!

Underdressed Phobia

I recently became an advisor for my sorority and Sunday evening we had our first meeting of the semester. It may have been the first meeting of the semester, but it was my first meeting as an advisor ever. It was only going to be for an hour and at a brewing company, but my first thoughts were “What do I wear?!” I figured it had to be casual since it was so short and where it was being held at. I asked my friend who was going earlier last week and she said she was going casual. But the day of I asked her again because things change, but she didn’t respond! I was left on my own! One of my fears is being underdressed. I just picture myself walking into a place and everyone staring at me thinking “She came wearing that?!” and laughing to themselves. Biggest fear! So I always try to be a little overdressed, but in that “I’m not overdressed, I always dress like this” kind of way… did I even just make sense?

Anyways with no confirmation I just picked a casual and cute outfit (which I did not take a picture of… my bad) of jeans, a purple knit sweater, a white, cream, and tan statement necklace from my last post, and my new tan booties that I posted on Instagram but not on here I just realized! (they were only $21.99 from G Stage!)

😍 #booties #anklebooties #style #shoes #boots #tassle #gstage #love #ootd

I thought it all looked cute and when I got to the meeting I fit in perfectly, everyone was casual. Thanks goodness!

Friendsgiving 2015

Last night my friends and I had this year’s Friendsgiving, hosted again by the lovely Amanda, you may know her from her blog Glitter it Gold, if not, do yourself a favor and check her out. It was a great night of food, friends, and fall fashion! Oh and wine. Amanda did a great job setting up, and cooking the main course obviously.

It was a really fun night and I look forward to continuing this tradition every year. It really made it feel like the holidays are coming, and we all got to wear cute fall outfits! I just got these booties at Target and I LOVE them! The high platform made them so comfy. I wore them all night and never felt the need to take them off. My sweater and flannel are both from Target as well and I was so excited to pair them together. When I saw the booties I knew I had to get them to finish my outfit. Plus I worked an hour of overtime this week which paid for my booties so that means they were like free, right? Right! Check the combination out below!

Tragic Fashion- Bootie-Licious

I went into Target, my usual after work activity, in search of moon pies. Yes, moon pies. Tomorrow we are having a Redneck Pot-Luck at work and I was assigned moon pies. Anyways, upon walking into Target, I took up my usual route starting with the $1 section, then to the forbidden clothes. I know I should never walk through here yet I do 99% of the time. I picked up three different items, instantly thought of an outfit I can make out of it and the places I could wear it too, then put it down. You see, I am very good at this. Not putting the clothes back down, that’s just plain hard, no I’m good at visualizing an exact outfit, thus convincing myself to buy an article of clothing. It’s a pretty good talent I’d say because the outfit almost always comes out how I envisioned it. Again, thanks to my seven years in retail. This is why when my best friend wants a reason to buy something when she doesn’t really have one, she asks me. Well after creating several outfits and successfully putting them back, I walked to the shoe section. I don’t know why I do this to myself. This time, the shoes won the battle though. But really, how can you argue when you find shoes you have been looking for, and they are $8 off? It’s just not fair. So yes, I found my size laying on the floor (the last ones in my size! See, meant to be), tried them on, and was sold. I am FINALLY a proud owner of ankle booties with a small heel. I really have been looking for a cute pair that’s not that expensive, and now I have!
