Simplicitly Yours

I generally use big purses, not only because I like them but because I always have so much stuff. It can be so heavy though! I usually do not change to a small purse unless it is for an event, but I am trying to use them more because really, why do I need so much stuff all the time?! I don’t. So please feast your eyes on this beauty!

dsc_0603

I got it from Simplicitily Yours. They are fairly new, my friend Heather actually introduced them to me. Picking this cute little purse was pretty hard because they have so many cute ones. I chose this pink one with the flower details because I love letting a purse be the pop of color on a simple outfit. If I add this accessory like I did here on a simple black and gray outfit, it will not only stand out, but will dress the outfit up as well.  If you want to try new things but are unsure, I think it is easiest to have a fun purse because it is part of your outfit but not so in your face.

The purse is linked here, it also comes in black and white. Check out Simplicitly Yours for all of their cute accessories and use my code BRITTANY20 for 20% off your order!

Proud and Pretty in Pink – Empower Me!

So this post is a little late, but I wanted to write about the Proud and Pretty in Pink’s Empower Me! event I attended a couple weeks ago. If you do not remember, read this post Proud and Pretty in Pink, PPP is the organization I blog for. The women who started this organization are truly amazing. This event hosted a panel of five women who shared about their experiences growing up and what contributed to their self esteem, and where they are now. It was awesome because no matter who you were, you could have related to at least one of their stories. The variety was just so great. One of the girl’s stories even made me realize that I need to look at my similar circumstances in a different light. It was a very eye opening experience that maybe I will get to write about one day, but not yet. I am hoping through blogging for PPP I can open up more about my stories and help another just by even relating to them.

What PPP does is really great and I encourage you to take a look at their site  proudandprettyinpink.com. They try to have events quarterly so I am really looking forward to the next.

These lovely ladies are the founders of PPP!

Midi Skirt!

I’ve worn a variation of this outfit once before, but it was geared more for summer. With fall literally around the corner, as in tomorrow (I cannot even contain my excitement) I paired this beautiful skirt with a long sleeve chambray top instead of the sleeveless. I just love it and apparently everyone else did too because I got a lot of compliments. These skirts are so easy yet look so dressed up (I say “these” because yes I have a second one). I found them on BooHoo and they have a lot of different styles, plus it was really inexpensive. I love simple outfits that look really put together. The other good thing about this skirt is all the options you can wear with it because it has so many colors in the print. Perfect for all seasons!

30 Day Challenge Wrap Up

Well it is September, which means that Heather and I made it through our 30 Day Challenge where we couldn’t buy anything new and had to wear a different outfit every day with no repeats! To be honest it was a little more difficult than I thought, especially towards the end. Wearing a different outfit everyday would be no problem if we had no clothing restrictions however, we have a work dress codes we need to follow which takes out a good chunk of our wardrobes. As long as we planned ahead we were okay. I am happy we did this challenge because it showed me things in my closet I can get rid of. There were still items I didn’t touch even though I had to figure out new outfits with the clothes I already had. Cleaning out my closet should be a little easier now, and quicker!

Now that it is over you can bet your bottom dollar that I bought something already! Just one thing though and I can’t wait for them to come in. When I say them of course I mean shoes, they were on sale I couldn’t resist! I will wait to tell you what they are until I can show you, but I will give you a hit, they may or may not be a new pair of mules… =D.

Anyways below are our outfits on the 30 days. As you will notice there is a day (or two missing) but on our honor we did not repeat an outfit! I was at the lake and was just in a bathing suit and Heather was in workout clothes moving, not picture worthy. Enjoy and try out the challenge!

Pop of Color

How cute is this midi skirt?! I wasn’t sure if it was too circus tent-y, but I couldn’t get it out of my head from the moment I saw it. I decided it was too fun not to buy. I wore it to work but it would also be great for dress up events like brunch, a bridal shower, or a birthday party.

I paired it with my sleeveless chambray top and my rose gold heels, you know for a little pop, because a bright yellow skirt needs more pop…

I got so many compliments on this outfit from the minute I walked in the door at work! I just loved it! Probably one of the best parts about it is how inexpensive the skirt is. I got it half off on BooHoo.com. I’m excited to see what other looks I can make with it. Check it out!

Red, White, and Blue Wrap-Up

Happy Saturday! I hope everyone had a great week and a great 4th of July! This is the end of my week of red, white, and blue so I wanted to round it all up for you. I love this color combo and totally believe you can wear it at any time of year and not just around the 4th of July. Let’s check it out!

Look 1: Cherlynn from the.B.Law Style Panel put this amazing combo together! The top is sooo cute (I helped her pick it out and now I want it too)! This look can go with sandals or heels depending on what event you’re wearing it to.

Shop the look here: Top – Express (this one is sold out, other color linked) | Shorts – Maison Jules (Macy’s)

Look 2: I love being able to dress up a super casual outfit. Without the necklace and wedges this look is just a tee shirt and cut off shorts. Add a statement necklace and wedges and you have a cute and trendy outfit that says you are dressed up but not trying too hard, you know that, “I always look this good” style that I always talk about, my fav!

Shop the look here: Top – Target | Shorts – Topshop | Wedges – Indigo.Rd (Macy’s) | Necklace – Charming Charlie (alternate linked) | Bag – Target

Look 3: There those shorts are again! You can really wear navy a lot especially as a bottom. This look is more color blocked but the wedges and necklace spice it up!

Shop the look here: Top – Express (alternate linked) | Shorts – Maison Jules (Macy’s) | Wedges – Indigo.Rd (Macy’s) | Necklace – Charming Charlie (alternate linked)

Look 4: I LOVE this outfit for work. We were supposed to wear red, white, and blue to work Monday and everyone loved mine! I was told I was the walking American flag. This outfit though as I said earlier can be worn at any time of year! It is fun and great for work.

Shop the look here: Top – Express (alternate linked) | Pants – Old Navy (alternate linked) | Heels – any white pumps! (I am not linking mine because they are HORRIBLY uncomfortable! They are the brand Mix No. 6, I got them at DSW – no offense Mix No. 6 but these heels are awful. Any suggestions on good white pumps ladies?)

Look 5: Lastly the perfect casual Friday or BBQ outfit. Dressed up but ready to have a good time! I am slowly buying into this whole sneakers with dresses trend, but I haven’t tried it myself yet… I will soon!

Shop the look here: Dress – Maison Jules (Macy’s) | Denim Jacket – Old Navy | Bag – Old Navy | Necklace – Charming Charlie (alternate linked) | White Chucks – Kohl’s

There you have it, five options for wearing red, white, and blue! Simple right? Let me know your favorite look(s) and have a great weekend!

Hello Shoulders

Isn’t this dress just the cutest?! I found it when I got the yellow kimono (post linked here if you missed it) at Heavenly Couture in Palm Springs. I really can’t wait to go there again, this dress was only $16.99 too! I saw it and instantly wanted it for Mexico. That has been my really bad excuse of why I keep buying things, “but I need it for Mexico!” I have plenty of things for Mexico but you know how we are girls! My packing list looks like I am moving there, but a girl has to have options! We leave on Wednesday night!

Anyways, this dress is so cute and comfy. I feel so dressed up in it even though it is so simple. I used it as one of my outfits for our photoshoot with Sarah Drew (Instagram linked here!) in Lake Elsinore-ish.

Can we also please discuss these wedges?! My bffffff found them online at Macy’s and we both bought them because why not, half of our wardrobe is exactly the same anyways! We had both seen a lot of bloggers wearing similar ones but they were sooooo expensive. These babies full price are only $69! We both got them on sale though for $35! What. A. STEAL! They are so incredibly comfortable, they barely feel like a heel because of the platform. I can’t wait to wear this outfit in Mexico. Check it out!

Outfit details here:

Dress – Heavenly Couture

Wedges – Indigo Rd. from Macy’s

Hello Summer Floppy Hat – B.P. from Nordstrom (sold out :(, similar linked here and here!)

Wide Brim Fedora – Target (sold out, similar linked here)

Happy Sunday! xoxo

Introducing the.B.Law Style Panel: Tabitha!

Second up on the.B.Law Style Panel we have Tabitha! Like Heather, she is also going to talk about general style but with her own twist. I have always called Tabitha my flower child, she has always had that more creative style. She is the reason I started pattern mixing, after much pushback. What makes her style so creative is that Tabitha is big on DIY projects and thrifting. I am excited for some of the things she wants to share here. One time, she made a skirt out of a mens’ button up she got at a thrift store. The shirt was a fish print, and our dad had basically the same shirt. I will have to see if she can dig up the picture.

Oh so up there I said “our dad”. Yep I have known Tabitha since she entered this world 23 years ago, she is my younger sister! (note: I am working on saying “younger” instead of “little” because she isn’t little anymore. Just like my older sister can’t call me little) Anyways, Tabitha is pretty amazing. Apart from having great style, she is a great writer, like super great as in you should look forward to reading her blog posts. In fact, you should actually check out her blog too because she is just such a good writer!! Find her blog here —> Tab in Transit <— She will be starting grad school this summer for creative writing, and will most likely be a famous author one day. She has even been published in the LA Review! Okay have I bragged too much yet? I am sorry, I am just so proud of her! She may be my younger sister, but I totally look up to her. Be sure to come back because I want you to love her too!

Okay check out her fun facts now and I will talk to you Friday with the next Panelist!

Introducing the.B.Law Style Panel: Heather!

As I said in my last post, this week and next I will be introducing my new style panel! I am so excited, I have 6 awesome girls and they all have great things to contribute. So without further ado, I would like to introduce you to Heather!

Heather and I met in college (in some weird cosmic way- story for another time) and then she joined my sorority Sigma Kappa. We continued to grow closer and closer. After graduation she got me a job as an assistant manager with her at Abercrombie and Fitch, AND THEN we were roommates! You all have probably seen her before from when the blog first started. For those of you who haven’t been with me since the beginning, the.B.Law wasn’t always the.B.Law. When I started the blog, 3 years ago next month, it was called Tragic Girls. Tragic Girls was about all of mine and Heather’s tragicness when we lived together. It was the first time we had both lived on our own, and although we were already very independent, we still had a lot to learn. If you are interested, check out these first few tragic posts here, here, herehere, and here! Since then, the blog has evolved and so has mine and Heather’s friendship. We do not live together anymore, but she is still one of my best friends and we talk every day. She is also one I run all of my fashion decisions by.

Heather and I both have tons of retail experience. I worked in retail for just shy of 8 years. Heather I believe is somewhere between 8-9 years? Is that right Heather? Correct me if I am wrong. All of those years are where we got all of our style influence, and turns out, we are pretty good. Heather is my general style and fashion forward panelist. She has great style for every occasion and is never afraid to try the new trends. Whenever I am unsure about trying something new, I am sending a picture of it over to Heather asking her opinion. She is just so great! Below are some fun facts, stay tuned for more and expect some great things from her!

  • Describe your personal style in 3-5 words: Basic, boho, chic
  • Your go to outfit/piece of clothing: High rise denim with a tank body suit, a chunky sweater, and booties
  • Favorite place to shop: Target and H&M
  • Favorite shoe brand: Steve Madden
  • Favorite current trend: Body suits
  • Style preference: Casual
  • Where do you get most of your style inspiration: Bloggers on Instagram and fashion magazines
  • One piece of makeup you cannot live without: Benefit They’re Real! Lengthening & Volumizing Mascara

Pink Ruffles!

As I am sure you have noticed, ruffles are becoming a pretty big trend right now. I have been dabbling a little, but I have been noticing myself being drawn more and more to them. Last month, another blogger I follow was wearing this pink striped off the shoulder top and I thought it was so cute! I checked the online shop where she bought it from, SheIn, and it was only $14! Clearly I had to buy one. I also found these white hight waist “mom” shorts from Topshop at Nordstrom. The two paired together perfectly! I wore it to brunch with two of my girlfriends and everyone loved it. It sounds silly but I really loved the big ruffle because it made me feel so fancy! Check it out below!
