Mexico: Part 2

Guess what?!… I finally unpacked from vacation. I know, so bad but I was waiting for this weekend because I stayed at my sister’s and I wanted to use her washing machine. Now all that is left from Mexico is to finish blogging about it! Part 2 up next, the hotel! Again we stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya on the Heaven side (18 and up) and I was SO impressed. From the minute we turned down the driveway I was in awe. The extremely long drive from the street (well I remember it as long) up to the hotel made me think like I was in a movie and I was going to a super glamorous hotel or mansion. Once we walked in the lobby I was in even more awe, I wish I would have taken pictures! Everything was just so nice, totally not what I was expecting. Not that I didn’t think it would be nice, I guess I just didn’t really think at all about what it would look like inside.

My younger sister, bfff, and I went to check in to our room and found out we were booked for a room with a king size bed only, for all three of us! We asked if we could change to a double which the girl wasn’t sure if we would get. While we waited for our room we got to eat breakfast at the buffet with this beautiful view of the pool and the beach. Luckily after we ate our room was ready and it was a double! The only thing that sucked was our entire party was in building four, except for us. Since they moved our room the only available one was in building two. It is so cool because instead of room keys you have a wrist band for your stay which scans on your room door! We got to our room and again, it was SO NICE! Two queen beds, a jacuzzi tub in the same room as the beds, comfy robes, and a hammock on the porch! I know that description sounds so basic but it was incredible.

The pools were awesome too. There is basically two sides. One is calm and more quiet, more for relaxing. The other side has the swim up bar and the DJ. Behind the swim up bar they had snacks from 1-5pm which were life savers. Snacks like onion rings and mozzarella sticks, all of that greasy grossness you need when you are drinking at an all inclusive bar (stories on that in a different post!). Past the pools was the lagoon. Rock walls blocked the open ocean from crashing in which created the most relaxing lagoon and swim area. The water was so bright and the sand so soft. It was nice down there because although it was incredibly humid, there was always a cool breeze at the lagoon.

For food there were six restaurants I believe, three on Heaven the adult side and three on Hacienda, the family side (which also had a water slide!). Breakfast was a buffet and was the same everywhere, but dinner was different at every restaurant. There was a steak restaurant, Brazilian, Asian, Italian, and two Mexican restaurants. I got to try four out of the six so I definitely need to try the others when I go back because I WILL be back. You could also get room service at any time of day or night which was crazy! It was so weird getting anything from room service and having it already be included in your stay. Those quesadillas were our heroes a couple of nights.

I 100% want to go back to this same resort not only because it was nice but because it was so much fun!

Stay tuned, part 3 will be about the wedding!

Mexico: Part 1

Well we have been back from Mexico for almost a week so I guess it is time to get back to business. We got back last Tuesday night and I have wanted to do nothing, I haven’t even unpacked (I know, so shameful)! I think I might be in a post vacation depression, or maybe our use of the word “Mexicoma” was totally wrong. Maybe you’re not in a Mexicoma when you are there, but when you come back! This trip was all we could talk about for the past year and a half. We were either complaining about having to pay for it or planning what we were going to do there, or mostly what we were going to wear. The trip came and went and it was AMAZING! I wish I could go back right now. I know I was being an inner snooty little brat and was thinking if I am going to spend all this money for a vacation then why are we going to Mexico, why not Jamaica or something? I apologize about that because this resort was so great. We stayed at the all-inclusive Hard Rock Hotel in Riviera Maya (on the adult side Heaven) and I couldn’t believe how nice it was from the moment we walked in! I will go more into the hotel later. The trip was so fun and rather than shove everything into one, long and dragging blog post I am going to break it up into parts. So part 1:

Packing

On multiple occasions I have expressed my dislike for packing. This is my third apartment in three years so packing up your life obviously sucks like no other, but backing for a long trip really isn’t that enjoyable either, at least for me. I am totally one of those pack hours before I leave for a trip girls, but since this was a longer than a weekend trip in a different country I started early, and by early I mean I made a list. Please note, I am going to confide in you my level of OCD or as I’m told “anal-ness”, so please do not judge. I made a list of literally every item I was going to bring. Not just like “tops” or “accessories” but each and every article of clothing and each and every piece of jewelry. If you are curious, you can see my over the top list here: Mexico Packing List. It may sound crazy but packing ended up being super easy, even though it still took me hours. Once I had everything out and folded on my couch it took me awhile to figure out my system of how I wanted everything in my suitcase. I couldn’t figure out what I couldn’t figure out. Come to think of it, even now I do not know what my problem was. I must have been tired and overthinking everything.

I had assumed this already, but once I met up with everyone else I KNEW I had over packed. At least I wasn’t alone. My younger sister, bffff, and I were all sharing a room and the three of us were the ONLY ones who had a large suitcase and a carry on suitcase. What can I say, we like options! There were definitely quite a few outfits I didn’t even take out of my suitcase, but I got to wear all of the outfits I really wanted to, which you will see later on. My over packing is part of the reason I am avoiding unpacking, that means so much laundry! My suitcase was even almost too heavy. I ended up putting a pair of shoes, my boyfriend’s bluetooth speaker, a bottle of sunscreen, and a bottle of aloe in one of the other girl’s suitcases because she had so much extra room. I ended up weighing in at like 47 pounds, so close!

Our flight didn’t leave until 11:59pm so we had to just hang out at LAX for awhile. Fun fact, once we got to the resort and everyone went to their rooms, we realized a bunch of stuff got stolen from our checked bags at LAX: a GoPro, two bluetooth speakers (including m boyfriend’s), an expensive belt, perfume, and probably stuff we still haven’t realized. How awful that you have to pay to check your bags and they are not even safe. PUT ALL VALUABLES IN YOUR CARRY ON!

Anyways, we boarded, flew and slept (neck pillows are awesome!), and 5 hours later we landed in Mexico! I will leave you with that until part 2!

Packing tip: us bridesmaids had to make our flower crowns for the wedding and had to get them there safely. I ended up getting one of my wider but flatter shoe boxes and put all of my accessories, sung;asses, and my flower crown in it and packed it at the bottom of my suitcase and it worked perfectly! My flower crown looked perfect.

PS – My tee and shorts are from Target (sweater OLD), floppy hat is BP from Nordstrom, and my suit cases from the OC Swap-meet! (I got these two plus the medium size one for $100!)

Hello Shoulders

Isn’t this dress just the cutest?! I found it when I got the yellow kimono (post linked here if you missed it) at Heavenly Couture in Palm Springs. I really can’t wait to go there again, this dress was only $16.99 too! I saw it and instantly wanted it for Mexico. That has been my really bad excuse of why I keep buying things, “but I need it for Mexico!” I have plenty of things for Mexico but you know how we are girls! My packing list looks like I am moving there, but a girl has to have options! We leave on Wednesday night!

Anyways, this dress is so cute and comfy. I feel so dressed up in it even though it is so simple. I used it as one of my outfits for our photoshoot with Sarah Drew (Instagram linked here!) in Lake Elsinore-ish.

Can we also please discuss these wedges?! My bffffff found them online at Macy’s and we both bought them because why not, half of our wardrobe is exactly the same anyways! We had both seen a lot of bloggers wearing similar ones but they were sooooo expensive. These babies full price are only $69! We both got them on sale though for $35! What. A. STEAL! They are so incredibly comfortable, they barely feel like a heel because of the platform. I can’t wait to wear this outfit in Mexico. Check it out!

Outfit details here:

Dress – Heavenly Couture

Wedges – Indigo Rd. from Macy’s

Hello Summer Floppy Hat – B.P. from Nordstrom (sold out :(, similar linked here and here!)

Wide Brim Fedora – Target (sold out, similar linked here)

Happy Sunday! xoxo
