Among the Wildflowers

Sunday morning, my bffff, her other bff Sarah, and I went in search of wildflower fields. I have been trying to take more blog photos and Sarah has been wanting to get back into photography so we had a win-win situation. We left at 7:00am to attempt to  find wildflowers near Lake Elsinore, but no surprise, they were all dead. We were not discouraged though! The scenery was still pretty so we found some good spots with some little wildflowers and took some great pictures.

I was really happy with how this outfit turned out. I found the kimono last weekend at my sister’s bachelorette party in Palm Springs. The store is called Heavenly Couture and EVERYTHING was $16.99! I could have bought way more but I had some self control, but only some. To be honest I wasn’t sure how the kimono would look paired over my collard chambray top but I think tying the bottom of the top really helped. This is the chambray top I got from the Who What Wear line at Target. The shorts are from Topshop at Nordstrom. I am really excited to see how else I can style this kimono, especially for work. I will definitely be trying it this week. At Heavenly Couture, they had it styled over a mauve dress and belted. I want to try something similar because it was super cute! Check it out, and note, I have only gotten a couple pictures back from Sarah so I will be sure to share the rest when I get them! You can totally tell the difference between her photos and mine LOL! She is just such a good photographer!

This one cracked me up so I had to add it, I am so weird

Cold Shoulders

I am really loving all of the cold shoulder style tops that are coming out. I feel like it is almost impossible to go into a store and not find one. The blue one I am wearing here I actually got awhile ago from Nordstrom (BP). I originally bought it to bring on my vacation to Cancun this summer (yes I got it that far in advance), but last weekend I was thinking about it and thought, why do I need to wait until June to wear this? Oh that’s right, I don’t! So I finally took it out for a spin and I loved it! What really drew me to this top was the fact that the arms were ruffles. Cold shoulder AND ruffle sleeves? Yes to that combo! It was actually a really hard decision for me on the color. This top came in blue and white and even though I teetered back and forth, something about that blue just drew me in. I am realizing I am liking that shade of blue more and more.

Anyways I had been wanting to pair this top with these dv for Target thick soled sneaks, even though my bffff advised me not to, and I think it paired really cute! I will still be rocking this outfit on vacation but I definitely need different shorts. The ones I have on here are boyfriend shorts that are a size too big so they make my behind look weird. Sorry that I waited so long to post about this one because it is actually sold out now, but I found another BP cold shoulder top I liked if you’re interested! You can find it HERE! I did find the shoes though – dv Roxie Canvas Lace Up Espadrille Sneakers.

Hope you are having a great week!

Pink Ruffles!

As I am sure you have noticed, ruffles are becoming a pretty big trend right now. I have been dabbling a little, but I have been noticing myself being drawn more and more to them. Last month, another blogger I follow was wearing this pink striped off the shoulder top and I thought it was so cute! I checked the online shop where she bought it from, SheIn, and it was only $14! Clearly I had to buy one. I also found these white hight waist “mom” shorts from Topshop at Nordstrom. The two paired together perfectly! I wore it to brunch with two of my girlfriends and everyone loved it. It sounds silly but I really loved the big ruffle because it made me feel so fancy! Check it out below!

Weekend Wrap Up

It is always so sad when the weekend is over, especially when it was a fun one. Usually we don’t do anything on Friday nights because we finally get to relax after the long week, but this past Friday was the Year End Party for my work. I work at the New American Funding corporate office and I had heard so much hype about the year end party from how dressed up people get to how a rapper showed up last year. I only know a handful of people (the team I work with is only 4 people and the whole office is about 600), but I wanted to check it out so my boyfriend and I decided we would go for a little bit and meet up with my manager and his wife. I had bought the cutest silver shift dress but when I went to put it on the strap broke! I had to resort to a black dress, my LBD. There were well over 1,000 people there. Around 10:30pm we were getting tired but we could see the stage being set up for something, we figured maybe another artist would make an appearance this year. Soon after Nelly walked out from behind a curtain! It was fun and nostalgic hearing his early songs I had first heard in elementary school. My boyfriend and I decided to head out at 11:30pm.

Saturday, after getting into bed at 1am I got up at 5:45am to get ready and go meet my bfffffff in down town Claremont. She was going to take some pictures for me for the blog and they actually came out really well for our first time trying this and using my camera! It was also a lot of fun, I am awkward, she is awkward, so we just cancel each other out haha! I am excited to share all of the photos soon. We are already planning our next photo adventure exploring more in Claremont.

Sunday I was dead. I had all of these plans of being so productive, cleaning and wrapping Christmas presents and I woke up with the WORST sinus headache, and I still have it now, ugh! I powered through though. I would clean one thing, then take a nap, and repeat.

Today I was excited though despite my headache because I finally debuted my pink velvet heels from my last post Pink VelvetI got so many compliments and I just felt so fancy and pretty in them! I already want to wear them again. Here is the picture we took of them Saturday but of course I wore them with black slacks today to work, and I paired my cream sweater and a gold statement necklace.

I hope you all had a great weekend too!

Weekend Update

Happy first day of November! I hope everyone had a good and safe weekend. Just a quick recap of mine, Friday night I binge watched season 2 of The Originals on Netflix and am kind of sad that I finished it so fast. Now I have to watch the current season online until I get caught up on the few episodes I am behind, and then wait a week to watch each new one like a peasant. Saturday was Halloween, but obviously you knew that, and I woke up with the worst migraine. I am pretty sure my head knows when I am planning on having fun and just hates me. My boyfriend and I had planned on going to our friends for dinner and to hand out candy. While he watched the USC game before we went, I slept again to try to make my headache go away. It was a miracle but by the time we left it was gone! That never happens.

We got down to our friends and she made dinner for us. Some of you may know her, she is one of my best friends Amanda from Glitter it Gold. If you haven’t checked out her blog then you should because she is one of the best cooks that I know! She made the best steak! It was a perfect night, that was until I accidentally made my Michael Kors watch fall off of the bathroom counter and it shattered! I seriously almost cried, I am determined to get it fixed though.

This morning we left Amanda and her husband’s house to go to my parents. I had to go to my friend’s daughter’s first birthday! So I was going to drop my boyfriend off at my parents to hang out until I was done. My friend’s daughter is adorable and seriously loved her cake, she got chocolate wasted. You can actually check her out as well at The Mom Struggle is Real. (I know I have quite a few blogger friends that are like my real friends, but we help to motivate each other!) Anyways, this little one’s party was so nice and it was nice to see my friend because we never see each other, yet we are still close. After the party I went back to my parents and hung out with the family for a bit. It was a pretty filled weekend but I felt accomplished.

Now that I am finally home I had to sit down and write. Not just this blog though. Today is the first day of nanowrimo which stands for national novel writing month. I am going to try it. I already had an idea and it it became an even better idea recently when I realized what I really wanted the book to be about. I took it as a sign and figured I should try this. I got a bit of a head start and have a few pages already. Not to put myself down, but I know that I will not finish a novel in a month and that is okay, I don’t want to have this goal that I am not confident in achieving because then I will just feel like a failure. Instead I just want to write everyday. Somedays may be a little some may be a lot. I think though if I can at least write everyday then I can get this story down on paper. It may not even sound great when I get it all down, but i will feel so accomplished. After that comes editing so I know eventually I can make it great. So please hold me accountable, writing every day!

That is about it for the weekend, it is bed time. Good night!

PS- tomorrow will actually be in the low 70’s so please share my excitement and wear a sweater!
