Introducing the.B.Law Style Panel: Nicole!

Next up on the.B.Law Style Panel I would like to introduce Nicole! Her job on the panel is unique from the others because she is my beauty expert! Nicole is the best hair and makeup doer I know, and I am not just biased because she is my older sister! She truly does great work, I ALWAYS get compliments on my hair color. What is also so great about her work is that you can tell how passionate she is. It is so easy to see that she loves what she does and wants you to love the outcome of her work. A little background, I have known Nicole my entire life, that is all. HA! Just kidding, she is my big sissy and I love her. We are only a year and a half apart so you can bet we used to fight and bicker like no other, but she is one of my best friends and I would be lost without her.

I am so excited for her to be a part of the panel, not just for you readers but for myself! I know only the basics of hair and makeup so I will be learning just as much as you will be! I totally want to get her into doing tutorials and all of that stuff. AWW! Sorry I am just so excited about this. Check her out!

Introducing the.B.Law Style Panel: Tabitha!

Second up on the.B.Law Style Panel we have Tabitha! Like Heather, she is also going to talk about general style but with her own twist. I have always called Tabitha my flower child, she has always had that more creative style. She is the reason I started pattern mixing, after much pushback. What makes her style so creative is that Tabitha is big on DIY projects and thrifting. I am excited for some of the things she wants to share here. One time, she made a skirt out of a mens’ button up she got at a thrift store. The shirt was a fish print, and our dad had basically the same shirt. I will have to see if she can dig up the picture.

Oh so up there I said “our dad”. Yep I have known Tabitha since she entered this world 23 years ago, she is my younger sister! (note: I am working on saying “younger” instead of “little” because she isn’t little anymore. Just like my older sister can’t call me little) Anyways, Tabitha is pretty amazing. Apart from having great style, she is a great writer, like super great as in you should look forward to reading her blog posts. In fact, you should actually check out her blog too because she is just such a good writer!! Find her blog here —> Tab in Transit <— She will be starting grad school this summer for creative writing, and will most likely be a famous author one day. She has even been published in the LA Review! Okay have I bragged too much yet? I am sorry, I am just so proud of her! She may be my younger sister, but I totally look up to her. Be sure to come back because I want you to love her too!

Okay check out her fun facts now and I will talk to you Friday with the next Panelist!

Introducing the.B.Law Style Panel: Heather!

As I said in my last post, this week and next I will be introducing my new style panel! I am so excited, I have 6 awesome girls and they all have great things to contribute. So without further ado, I would like to introduce you to Heather!

Heather and I met in college (in some weird cosmic way- story for another time) and then she joined my sorority Sigma Kappa. We continued to grow closer and closer. After graduation she got me a job as an assistant manager with her at Abercrombie and Fitch, AND THEN we were roommates! You all have probably seen her before from when the blog first started. For those of you who haven’t been with me since the beginning, the.B.Law wasn’t always the.B.Law. When I started the blog, 3 years ago next month, it was called Tragic Girls. Tragic Girls was about all of mine and Heather’s tragicness when we lived together. It was the first time we had both lived on our own, and although we were already very independent, we still had a lot to learn. If you are interested, check out these first few tragic posts here, here, herehere, and here! Since then, the blog has evolved and so has mine and Heather’s friendship. We do not live together anymore, but she is still one of my best friends and we talk every day. She is also one I run all of my fashion decisions by.

Heather and I both have tons of retail experience. I worked in retail for just shy of 8 years. Heather I believe is somewhere between 8-9 years? Is that right Heather? Correct me if I am wrong. All of those years are where we got all of our style influence, and turns out, we are pretty good. Heather is my general style and fashion forward panelist. She has great style for every occasion and is never afraid to try the new trends. Whenever I am unsure about trying something new, I am sending a picture of it over to Heather asking her opinion. She is just so great! Below are some fun facts, stay tuned for more and expect some great things from her!

  • Describe your personal style in 3-5 words: Basic, boho, chic
  • Your go to outfit/piece of clothing: High rise denim with a tank body suit, a chunky sweater, and booties

  • Favorite current trend: Body suits
  • Style preference: Casual

the.B.Law Style Panel!

I am so excited to be introducing my Style Panel next week! A good friend made this suggestion and I was just like, why didn’t I think of that! The whole idea is still new but I have 6 great girls on this panel and the whole idea is that we are here for you. They will provide 6 other personal styles and taste to broaden everyone’s view. I want this to be a collaborative process between us and you readers. Ask questions, give suggestions, talk to us! The style panel girls each have their own personal niche that they will be the “expert” in so to speak, but that doesn’t mean they are limited to that topic. **SPOILER ALERT** one is a beauty expert!

Stay tuned, the first lovely lady gets introduced on Monday. I will have bios for them as well as the story of how we became friends. We will have some great style and great advise from these ladies. I am so excited to announce my team!

Happy Friday!

Cold Shoulders

I am really loving all of the cold shoulder style tops that are coming out. I feel like it is almost impossible to go into a store and not find one. The blue one I am wearing here I actually got awhile ago from Nordstrom (BP). I originally bought it to bring on my vacation to Cancun this summer (yes I got it that far in advance), but last weekend I was thinking about it and thought, why do I need to wait until June to wear this? Oh that’s right, I don’t! So I finally took it out for a spin and I loved it! What really drew me to this top was the fact that the arms were ruffles. Cold shoulder AND ruffle sleeves? Yes to that combo! It was actually a really hard decision for me on the color. This top came in blue and white and even though I teetered back and forth, something about that blue just drew me in. I am realizing I am liking that shade of blue more and more.

Anyways I had been wanting to pair this top with these dv for Target thick soled sneaks, even though my bffff advised me not to, and I think it paired really cute! I will still be rocking this outfit on vacation but I definitely need different shorts. The ones I have on here are boyfriend shorts that are a size too big so they make my behind look weird. Sorry that I waited so long to post about this one because it is actually sold out now, but I found another BP cold shoulder top I liked if you’re interested! You can find it HERE! I did find the shoes though – dv Roxie Canvas Lace Up Espadrille Sneakers.

Hope you are having a great week!

Color Blocked!

Will you please check out this color blocked, pleated midi skirt I found from WhoWhatWear at Target?! It instantly caught my eye. I saw it and picked it up, then put it back. They I came by it again and touched it, but left it again. Then a THIRD time I picked it up and held it up to myself in the mirror. Okay, okay, SOLD! I had to get it, which surprised myself that I liked it so much. I am not normally drawn to reds but I loved this. There are even red slacks I have my eye on. I think I just love how bright it is, the skirt is such a statement piece. The skirt IS the outfit which is why I paired an off with top with it. The top needs to be simple with this skirt, otherwise I would look like a walking fiesta!

Find the skirt here and the top here!

Pink Ruffles!

As I am sure you have noticed, ruffles are becoming a pretty big trend right now. I have been dabbling a little, but I have been noticing myself being drawn more and more to them. Last month, another blogger I follow was wearing this pink striped off the shoulder top and I thought it was so cute! I checked the online shop where she bought it from, SheIn, and it was only $14! Clearly I had to buy one. I also found these white hight waist “mom” shorts from Topshop at Nordstrom. The two paired together perfectly! I wore it to brunch with two of my girlfriends and everyone loved it. It sounds silly but I really loved the big ruffle because it made me feel so fancy! Check it out below!

Cute Little Collar

I found this darling little tee on sale at Macy’s from Maison Jules and I had to have it! I love the scalloped detail and the Peter Pan collar. When I was looking at it at first I wasn’t quite sure what to pair it with, but remembered I had an off white subtlety patterned skirt, also from Maison Jules. Putting the two together worked out great and makes a good work outfit. I wore the combo with tan heels for work, but they can also be changed out for tan or brown sandals to wear casually. I feel slightly like a little girl in this outfit but I still love it, and it’s great for spring!

So Macy’s still has this top buuut only in like 2 sizes. I’ll link it here anyways just in case! If you like it check out all of Maison Jules, I loooove their stuff!

New Spring Outfit!

I love when you see an outfit you want to recreate, and then you successfully do it! I was on the Bloguettes’ website and saw it, a blue and white thin striped button up, with a tan blazer, and white pants, simple. I thought how great it would be for work, so different than the usual black, gray, or navy slacks. Spring is Monday and it’s time to brighten things up! I already had white pants (they are technically jeans so I need to invest in some white slacks) and a tan blazer, I just needed the button up. Strolling through Target, I found it! When I put the whole combo on together it looked even better than I thought. I like that both the button up and the blazer are kind of oversized, although I do want to find a normal length tan blazer, any suggestions?! I could probably hide the fact that these are jeans at work but I’ll just keep it as a casual Friday outfit until I get slacks.

Hope you like it! Happy weekend!

Ruffle Trend

I am absolutely loving how big ruffles are right now. They are just so cute and girly. I feel like ruffles make you look more dressed up than you are, which can be really fun. I got this light pink ruffle top from the Who What Wear line at Target and it is so cute (see I told you I was really into pink tops right now). The ruffle detail adds enough flair to be able to just wear the top with slacks for work, you don’t need to add anything else to look put together. Simple outfits are great to have, especially on those mornings when you’re running late and need to grab something quick to wear. I paired this top with black slacks and leopard pumps (just for fun) and it was so easy and comfy for work. I also want to try it with white slacks and tan heels next. Wouldn’t that be cute?! (It would work with jeans to for casual Friday or the weekend too!) You can find the top here!

Happy Monday!
