Feeling Sashy

Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a great weekend. I did nothing and it was great. Definitely got some much needed sleep. Can you believe it is already July 10th? This year has gone so fast and I feel like I can’t catch up. Pinterest is already suggesting fall outfits. Don’t get me wrong, I have said countless times that fall is my favorite season, but part of the love is the anticipation. Me, patiently waiting for the first day that I see leaves on the ground and the first day I get to wear a sweater and boots. This year though it feels like I may blink and it will be here.

Anyways, sorry about my tangent. Today’s look has been a long time coming. I bought this top a while ago from Target and had this great idea to pair it with high waist black pants. It took some time to find a pair I liked. Well honestly not too long, I found some with a sash tie waist at Express but kept waiting for a sale and it never happened. I was browsing Boohoo recently and saw some that were similar and would do, AND they were only $20.

The two pieces paired together perfectly! The top is great because although it is sleeveless it is still work appropriate which helps with this heat lately! Check it out and find the items linked below:

Red, White, and Blue Wrap-Up

Happy Saturday! I hope everyone had a great week and a great 4th of July! This is the end of my week of red, white, and blue so I wanted to round it all up for you. I love this color combo and totally believe you can wear it at any time of year and not just around the 4th of July. Let’s check it out!

Look 1: Cherlynn from the.B.Law Style Panel put this amazing combo together! The top is sooo cute (I helped her pick it out and now I want it too)! This look can go with sandals or heels depending on what event you’re wearing it to.

Shop the look here: Top – Express (this one is sold out, other color linked) | Shorts – Maison Jules (Macy’s)

Look 2: I love being able to dress up a super casual outfit. Without the necklace and wedges this look is just a tee shirt and cut off shorts. Add a statement necklace and wedges and you have a cute and trendy outfit that says you are dressed up but not trying too hard, you know that, “I always look this good” style that I always talk about, my fav!

Shop the look here: Top – Target | Shorts – Topshop | Wedges – Indigo.Rd (Macy’s) | Necklace – Charming Charlie (alternate linked) | Bag – Target

Look 3: There those shorts are again! You can really wear navy a lot especially as a bottom. This look is more color blocked but the wedges and necklace spice it up!

Shop the look here: Top – Express (alternate linked) | Shorts – Maison Jules (Macy’s) | Wedges – Indigo.Rd (Macy’s) | Necklace – Charming Charlie (alternate linked)

Look 4: I LOVE this outfit for work. We were supposed to wear red, white, and blue to work Monday and everyone loved mine! I was told I was the walking American flag. This outfit though as I said earlier can be worn at any time of year! It is fun and great for work.

Shop the look here: Top – Express (alternate linked) | Pants – Old Navy (alternate linked) | Heels – any white pumps! (I am not linking mine because they are HORRIBLY uncomfortable! They are the brand Mix No. 6, I got them at DSW – no offense Mix No. 6 but these heels are awful. Any suggestions on good white pumps ladies?)

Look 5: Lastly the perfect casual Friday or BBQ outfit. Dressed up but ready to have a good time! I am slowly buying into this whole sneakers with dresses trend, but I haven’t tried it myself yet… I will soon!

Shop the look here: Dress – Maison Jules (Macy’s) | Denim Jacket – Old Navy | Bag – Old Navy | Necklace – Charming Charlie (alternate linked) | White Chucks – Kohl’s

There you have it, five options for wearing red, white, and blue! Simple right? Let me know your favorite look(s) and have a great weekend!

3 Year Blogaversary

So I am totally late, my blogaversary was May 16th and to be honest, I was so busy that I missed it. I wanted to celebrate the event anyways though because it is a big deal. I am proud of myself for continuing this. It is no longer a hobby but a regular part of my life, and although there are weeks where I can’t get anything out, the blog is something that I think about and mentally plan every day. I love being able to instantly think of a blog post when I see an outfit that I like or a cool place to take pictures.

I am happy with the direction the.B.Law is growing. I have been trying to incorporate news things yet keep it consistent, so if you have any ideas for me I would love to hear them! I want to keep evolving and growing and seeing what works for me. The last year was great but my goal is to make each new year bigger and greater. Thank you all for your support and for continuing to follow me! XOXO

First Day of Summer!

Happy first day of summer! All I can think about is Olaf singing his summer song in Frozen, “Drink, in my hand, my snow up against the burning sand, probably getting gorgeously tan in sumMERRRR!” Hasn’t this year gone by so fast? I don’t understand how it is already half way over. As fast as summer came we are going to blink and it will be fall. I can’t think about that yet, so cheers to the hottest season!

Mexico: Part 1

Well we have been back from Mexico for almost a week so I guess it is time to get back to business. We got back last Tuesday night and I have wanted to do nothing, I haven’t even unpacked (I know, so shameful)! I think I might be in a post vacation depression, or maybe our use of the word “Mexicoma” was totally wrong. Maybe you’re not in a Mexicoma when you are there, but when you come back! This trip was all we could talk about for the past year and a half. We were either complaining about having to pay for it or planning what we were going to do there, or mostly what we were going to wear. The trip came and went and it was AMAZING! I wish I could go back right now. I know I was being an inner snooty little brat and was thinking if I am going to spend all this money for a vacation then why are we going to Mexico, why not Jamaica or something? I apologize about that because this resort was so great. We stayed at the all-inclusive Hard Rock Hotel in Riviera Maya (on the adult side Heaven) and I couldn’t believe how nice it was from the moment we walked in! I will go more into the hotel later. The trip was so fun and rather than shove everything into one, long and dragging blog post I am going to break it up into parts. So part 1:

Packing

On multiple occasions I have expressed my dislike for packing. This is my third apartment in three years so packing up your life obviously sucks like no other, but backing for a long trip really isn’t that enjoyable either, at least for me. I am totally one of those pack hours before I leave for a trip girls, but since this was a longer than a weekend trip in a different country I started early, and by early I mean I made a list. Please note, I am going to confide in you my level of OCD or as I’m told “anal-ness”, so please do not judge. I made a list of literally every item I was going to bring. Not just like “tops” or “accessories” but each and every article of clothing and each and every piece of jewelry. If you are curious, you can see my over the top list here: Mexico Packing List. It may sound crazy but packing ended up being super easy, even though it still took me hours. Once I had everything out and folded on my couch it took me awhile to figure out my system of how I wanted everything in my suitcase. I couldn’t figure out what I couldn’t figure out. Come to think of it, even now I do not know what my problem was. I must have been tired and overthinking everything.

I had assumed this already, but once I met up with everyone else I KNEW I had over packed. At least I wasn’t alone. My younger sister, bffff, and I were all sharing a room and the three of us were the ONLY ones who had a large suitcase and a carry on suitcase. What can I say, we like options! There were definitely quite a few outfits I didn’t even take out of my suitcase, but I got to wear all of the outfits I really wanted to, which you will see later on. My over packing is part of the reason I am avoiding unpacking, that means so much laundry! My suitcase was even almost too heavy. I ended up putting a pair of shoes, my boyfriend’s bluetooth speaker, a bottle of sunscreen, and a bottle of aloe in one of the other girl’s suitcases because she had so much extra room. I ended up weighing in at like 47 pounds, so close!

Our flight didn’t leave until 11:59pm so we had to just hang out at LAX for awhile. Fun fact, once we got to the resort and everyone went to their rooms, we realized a bunch of stuff got stolen from our checked bags at LAX: a GoPro, two bluetooth speakers (including m boyfriend’s), an expensive belt, perfume, and probably stuff we still haven’t realized. How awful that you have to pay to check your bags and they are not even safe. PUT ALL VALUABLES IN YOUR CARRY ON!

Anyways, we boarded, flew and slept (neck pillows are awesome!), and 5 hours later we landed in Mexico! I will leave you with that until part 2!

Packing tip: us bridesmaids had to make our flower crowns for the wedding and had to get them there safely. I ended up getting one of my wider but flatter shoe boxes and put all of my accessories, sung;asses, and my flower crown in it and packed it at the bottom of my suitcase and it worked perfectly! My flower crown looked perfect.

PS – My tee and shorts are from Target (sweater OLD), floppy hat is BP from Nordstrom, and my suit cases from the OC Swap-meet! (I got these two plus the medium size one for $100!)

Hello Shoulders

Isn’t this dress just the cutest?! I found it when I got the yellow kimono (post linked here if you missed it) at Heavenly Couture in Palm Springs. I really can’t wait to go there again, this dress was only $16.99 too! I saw it and instantly wanted it for Mexico. That has been my really bad excuse of why I keep buying things, “but I need it for Mexico!” I have plenty of things for Mexico but you know how we are girls! My packing list looks like I am moving there, but a girl has to have options! We leave on Wednesday night!

Anyways, this dress is so cute and comfy. I feel so dressed up in it even though it is so simple. I used it as one of my outfits for our photoshoot with Sarah Drew (Instagram linked here!) in Lake Elsinore-ish.

Can we also please discuss these wedges?! My bffffff found them online at Macy’s and we both bought them because why not, half of our wardrobe is exactly the same anyways! We had both seen a lot of bloggers wearing similar ones but they were sooooo expensive. These babies full price are only $69! We both got them on sale though for $35! What. A. STEAL! They are so incredibly comfortable, they barely feel like a heel because of the platform. I can’t wait to wear this outfit in Mexico. Check it out!

Outfit details here:

Dress – Heavenly Couture

Wedges – Indigo Rd. from Macy’s

Hello Summer Floppy Hat – B.P. from Nordstrom (sold out :(, similar linked here and here!)

Wide Brim Fedora – Target (sold out, similar linked here)

Happy Sunday! xoxo

Among the Wildflowers

Sunday morning, my bffff, her other bff Sarah, and I went in search of wildflower fields. I have been trying to take more blog photos and Sarah has been wanting to get back into photography so we had a win-win situation. We left at 7:00am to attempt to  find wildflowers near Lake Elsinore, but no surprise, they were all dead. We were not discouraged though! The scenery was still pretty so we found some good spots with some little wildflowers and took some great pictures.

I was really happy with how this outfit turned out. I found the kimono last weekend at my sister’s bachelorette party in Palm Springs. The store is called Heavenly Couture and EVERYTHING was $16.99! I could have bought way more but I had some self control, but only some. To be honest I wasn’t sure how the kimono would look paired over my collard chambray top but I think tying the bottom of the top really helped. This is the chambray top I got from the Who What Wear line at Target. The shorts are from Topshop at Nordstrom. I am really excited to see how else I can style this kimono, especially for work. I will definitely be trying it this week. At Heavenly Couture, they had it styled over a mauve dress and belted. I want to try something similar because it was super cute! Check it out, and note, I have only gotten a couple pictures back from Sarah so I will be sure to share the rest when I get them! You can totally tell the difference between her photos and mine LOL! She is just such a good photographer!

This one cracked me up so I had to add it, I am so weird

Happy Wednesday all! Today I would like to introduce you to the next style panelist Amanda! I have mentioned Amanda numerous times so you may also know her from her blog Glitter it Gold. Amanda and I met during fall sorority recruitment in 2008. We got to know each other in our Sigma Kappa pledge class and have been best friends ever since! It is crazy to think next year will be our ten year frienaversary. Time goes by so fast and we have gone through so much together, like her wedding! Fun fact about us, almost every time we are together someone asks if we are sisters or if we are related. Even back in college I would walk around campus and someone would yell, “hey Amanda!” and I would just laugh and wave back.

Here on the.B.Law Amanda will be helping with dressing to impress. She has such poise. Whenever someone in our group has to go somewhere fancy we are asking Amanda for tips. She is also a boss lady and will be helping out with work attire and interview attire and tips. I am so excited to have her here! Keep reading below for her style facts!

Introducing the.B.Law Style Panel: Cherlynn!

The fourth member of the.B.Law Style Panel is Cherlynn! We have been best friends for 17 years now. We met in the street because my dad moved onto hers when I was in 4th grade. Although we never went to the same school we always stayed in touch and we finally lived in the same city in high school. Then the best thing happened, we went to the same college, the University of La Verne! It was fate. What is so unique about our friendship is she is actually my older sister’s best friend too. Cher is even close to our younger sister. We call ourselves the “Quadpod” and text in a group message everyday. She is literally like a sister and has seen us all through the best and worst times.

Anyways, Cherlynn will be my expert on dressing to work with kids and staying stylish AND comfy doing so. She will also be talking about dressing for dates, especially when it’s a brand new date! I’m excited for what she has to share! Check out her fun facts below:
