lifestyle, Style, the.B.Law

4 Year Blogaversary!

I can’t believe the blog is 4! Sometimes is seems like only yesterday… haha but really, time is going by so fast. For those of you who have been with me since the beginning, you know the.B.Law started off as Tragic Girls with my old roomie/best friend/sorority sister/style panelist Heather and I living together and tracking our tragic stories. A year and a half later I changed the name to the.B.Law to start the change in direction of the blog. Although I loved tragic girls, and yes we are both still tragic… very much so, but my passion is style. I blame it on working in retail for almost 8 years, but it is really something I want to do with my life, and I want to write and actually use my college degree. So why not combine them and write about style? I know the style blogger community is highly saturated, but I believe everyone has something unique to bring to the table. No two people are alike just like no two people’s sense of styles are alike. For example I have a lot of style ideas in common with both Heather and one of my other best friends, Cher (style panelist), but Heather and Cher both have completely different styles than each other. I love getting inspiration from all of my friends, models, movies and TV shows, strangers, and other style bloggers, and turning it into something of my own. Style to me is the best way to express myself. It is literally all up in your face and you can really read someone by what they are wearing. You can tell if I am feeling confident, lazy, bold, safe, and so much more. I have also said this before but I LOVE they way a good outfit makes you feel. When you are super excited about a look and you know you look good in it, it is like an adrenaline rush. You end up with a completely different sense of confidence that can last all day.

I really feel like this is a good year for the.B.Law. Last year had some good growth and I learned a lot and I got to try quite a few more collaborations, but this year I know it is going to get even better and bigger. Just in time for my 4 year blogaversary, I hit one of my blog goals… I got accepted to rewardStyle!! I would talk about it all the time that I just want to be cool and be on LIKEtoKNOW.it. I gave it a try and applied and got denied, as expected. I grew some more and tried again, and again denied. You can bet I wasn’t giving up though! I applied last Thursday just for the heck of it because I was impatient to wait any longer and Friday I got an email THAT I WAS ACCEPTED! I was so excited I danced around my office at work and told my three coworkers AND THEY DON’T EVEN KNOW WHAT IT IS! I literally went downstairs just to tell one of the receptionists about it because I knew she knew LIKEtoKNOW.it and would be excited with me LOL (You always got my back!). Anyways, AHHHHH! I am literally so excited, I feel so legit now! Next goal, get to “swipe up” on my stories, I will get there!

There will be so much more style coming to the blog and I am so excited. There will be another change though. My focus for the last year and a half has been office style and how to keep your personal style at work. Although that will still be very present as I work in an office, that will not be my main focus. I have felt myself evolving more and more away from that and I want to see where that takes me. A couple years ago I did this online blogger class and she really stressed to start off with a specific niche before being so broad. It was 100% true. I got way more traction and followers by being a sort of “expert” in my niche, and then eventually you will grow out of it. I think my growing has begun. Now I will need to create a new graphic for my blog so look for that change too!

Lastly, this is more me related than blog related, but I applied to be a contributing writer for LOCALE Magazine and I got accepted! I am super excited and nervous but this will be great experience and may even open some new doors. The start of 2018 completely turned my world upside-down (I promise I am finally ready to talk about it, hopefully next week), and finally I feel like things are starting to settle and get good again. The news of rewardStyle and LOCALE made me feel like I have something to look forward to again. I am excited to see what the rest of the year will hold for the.B.Law, I feel like things can only keep getting better! Thanks for sticking around! Comment if you have any questions, suggestions, or want to share anything! Also… follow me on the LIKEtoKNOW.it app! (new line in every post haha, SO EXCITED!)

Fun fact: this is my 300th post! (not planned, just a coincidence =] )

xoxo – Britt

3 Year Blogaversary

So I am totally late, my blogaversary was May 16th and to be honest, I was so busy that I missed it. I wanted to celebrate the event anyways though because it is a big deal. I am proud of myself for continuing this. It is no longer a hobby but a regular part of my life, and although there are weeks where I can’t get anything out, the blog is something that I think about and mentally plan every day. I love being able to instantly think of a blog post when I see an outfit that I like or a cool place to take pictures.

I am happy with the direction the.B.Law is growing. I have been trying to incorporate news things yet keep it consistent, so if you have any ideas for me I would love to hear them! I want to keep evolving and growing and seeing what works for me. The last year was great but my goal is to make each new year bigger and greater. Thank you all for your support and for continuing to follow me! XOXO

Hi, I Miss You.

Well hello there! How’s it going? I truly apologize for my absence, I’ve let the blog get away from me these last few weeks. Life has gotten so busy, I have literally had something every weekend and there is so much in those weekends that I want to share! Being part of a wedding is no joke, there is so much that goes into it. I am finally past the bridal shower and the bachelorette party (both were successes) and now all we have is the wedding trip, but still in-between these two weeks before we leave I have another wedding and a baby shower! Awwww I just want to be lazy all day and blog. Life was so crazy that I even forgot about my own blogaversary, we are 3 now!

I just wanted to let you know that I am still here. I have been doing most of my work lately on my Instagram so if you don’t follow me you should so we can stay in touch! Follow @the.B.Law. I also wanted to tell you about what I want to tell you about to hold myself accountable (did that sentence even make sense?). I will tell you in the normal Brittany fashion, in list form!… My bffffff and I have list issues, like SERIOUS issues. We makes lists for everything, then read them to each other. We even put on our to do list to make ANOTHER to do list… #freaks

Anyways, things that I want to fill you in on:

  • Bridal Shower
  • Bachelorette Party
  • 3rd Blogaversary
  • Bible Study
  • Vacation Packing (dreading by the way)
  • Catch up on style!

I think that is it… okay bye! Miss you!

2 Year Blogaversary

Wow I cannot believe that it is already the 2nd anniversary of my blog! This past year has gone by SO fast and so much has happened. Obviously the biggest thing blog wise was the name change from Tragic Girls to the.B.Law. on January 1st. I have been so happy with the change and have really been focusing on writing about more topics, especially style, my love in life. But don’t worry, I am still tragic, I can’t help it.

I feel like I have improved this past year with posting and actually posting more. My first year I wrote 77 posts, this past second year I posted 97! (yes I sat down and counted) There is still room to improve and grow, I want to bring that number up this next year. I always say that I am going to start making schedules for posts, and I will be good about it for a week or two and then I slack. My goal is to really do better with that. I sat down last night and made a schedule for this week and it didn’t even take me very long so I want to now make that my Sunday homework. I love blogging on Sundays anyways so now that will be my day to plan as well. If anyone has any tips on how they schedule or plan out their blogs please share! I would love to hear how other bloggers do it.

I am excited for this year. I want to try some new things and have already started on a couple new projects. It is taking a bit longer than I expected but it is okay, it will be great once I get it done and I am excited to share!

Thank you for all of your support these last two years and I cant wait to see where we go from here!

I also just want to share some of my favorite blogs that I get inspiration from…

Glitter It Gold by Amanda Hellweg – Obviously because she is one of my best friends and also because she inspires me everday and I love how she posts with such confidence!

Simply Audree Kate by Audree Kate – Her blog is so amazing and filled with such great style! She inspires me to try new things and spice up my style!

Barefoot Blonde by Amber Fillerup Clark – I love seeing pictures of her family. They are so cute and she has such great style, beauty, and hair tips.

Talk to you all soon!

One Year Blogaversary

I cannot believe that it has been a year since I started the blog. It amazes me how fast it has gone by and how so much has happened in just a year. Tragic Girls has really grown. There was about a month or two that I was slacking and just had plain writers block, but that is when I realized that I do not have to stick to one topic. From then I decided to expand. Why would I need to write about things that only pertain to the title of my blog? I decided that I didn’t, that this is my blog and I will write about whatever I want. This is when it got really fun and my writers block was gone. I have the freedom to write about anything I am passionate about.

The blog is just one thing that has grown over this year, the Tragic Girls, my roomie and I, have grown just as much or more. Last year we took a huge leap and literally jumped out of the nest together. We trusted that our finances were stable enough to make it on our own, and although we still struggle, we made it. We have learned so much from this experience, not just with finances and how to budget, but how to be more independent, and make our own decisions. Both of our transformations have been huge. I moved out, got a new boyfriend, got a new job, then another new job which is permanent, got a new car, and have learned so much about myself and about what I want. My roomie moved out, got two promotions, and is working toward a third. It is just amazing how jam packed this year has been.

Blogaversary

Even our circle of friends has grown. As I have mentioned in previous posts, two out of the five of us are now married, and one is surely to be next. Sharing these experiences with each other has no words to describe how amazing it is. Now my older sister just got engaged. Great things are just happening for everyone and I couldn’t be happier. This is such an exciting time in our lives and I have such good friends and family to share it with.

Our next adventure coming will be different. We will be moving out from our apartment and will no longer live together, which is really bittersweet. I could not have asked for a better roomie. We will take everything we have learned though on our new adventures and chapters of our lives. Tragic Girl Headquarters is not disappearing, it will be wherever we are and whenever we are together. I am so excited for my move down to the beach at the end of June, and for all the new things to come. I look forward to another year as Tragic Girls and I hope you all do too!

XOXO- Brittany
