Dainty Gold

I have gotten into this bad habit of only getting necklaces when I go to buy accessories. I had $15 worth of coupons for Charming Charlie so when I went I decided to make a change, I was only going to buy bracelets. What usually draws me away from them is that they never fit my wrist, but I have been seeing a lot of those dainty gold cuffs and they are generally pretty small so I decided to look for those. I ended up finding four and they were only $8-10 each! They are pretty popular right now so Charming Charlie had a good variety. These are the ones I found…

The blooper of this story… I was trying to take one of those cute staged pictures of these bracelets on top of my magazine, but I wanted better lighting. So I carried my magazine onto the patio for some natural light and as I was walking out one of my bracelets, the last picture, slid off my magazine and rolled off the patio into the yard of the apartment below me! My bfffff and I just stared at it. I was so bitter! How could I have done that?! I don’t even know my neighbors! So I went and knocked on their door and although I could hear people inside, no one answered -_-. So my bfffff and I went on a 4.5 mile walk to the beach and when we got back we tried the door again. Finally after knocking twice someone answered and I got my bracelet back! I was so happy! Haha that is my tragic story trying to be a photographer.

Oversized Blazer!

Sorry this is a late post, I have been a little under the weather, but feeling better now! Anyways, I was just talking to someone last week while wearing my oversized tan blazer, about wanting a gray or a black oversized blazer. Well over the weekend I went to G Stage with my sister and saw one on a mannequin! It was love at first sight. I tried it on and was instantly sold, and get this… it was only $17.99! I was even more sold after seeing the price tag. I can’t wait for all of the other outfits I can create with this! This one is just the beginning!

Deals and Steals

Last night on Instagram Maison Jules posted a picture of this dress…

I instantly tagged my bffffff in it because it’s obviously adorable. I looked it up on Macy’s and it was on sale for $49.99, originally $69.50. Not all that bad. While I was looking for the dress I also came across this vest and I have been on the search for this exact piece…

This was also on sale for $49.99, originally $69.50.  I added them both to my cart because that’s just what I do, I torture myself because I knew I wasn’t going to buy them, and OF COURSE you need to spend $100 to get free shipping and what did I have in my cart, $100. BUT NO! I was good.

Well like always when I have my eyes on something I really want or have been looking for I obsess over it (this means you really want it and you can envision all the different ways to wear it- generally to me it means it’s a good buy) I have these shopaholic instincts. Well at work while taking a quick break I look up the items again on Macy’s just to see, when a miracle happened. Some act of fate mixed with fashion destiny that these two items came together just for me! The dress was now on sale for $17.99 and the vest $37.99! WHAT?! It’s one of those Macy’s One Day Sales (that lasts for two days but whatever). I go to my Macy’s app on my phone to order them right then and there since my info is saved on my phone. The first thing I thought of was now I had to pay shipping and was hoping it wasn’t too much. I added the two to my cart and went to check out. Looking at the total I noticed I qualified for FREE SHIPPING! Apparently for the One Day Sale (again it’s actually two days so I don’t know why they just don’t call it a two day sale, it doesn’t make it less exclusive) you only need to spend $50 to qualify for free shipping and I was spending $55! Altogether with tax it was $60.46. If the stars didn’t align for this purchase then I don’t know what happened but I got both items I wanted for less than the price of one and it’s getting shipped to my place… WINNING!

You can check out Maison Jules at Macy’s riiiiiight HERE! (It’s one of my favorites if you haven’t started to gather that)

The Current Issue

The current issue is that I have a huge urge to shop and no money to be spending doing so. I think this happens every time the seasons are changing because I convince myself that I have no clothes for the upcoming season. Then of course all the stores are putting out their new merchandise and it is just so hard! I am currently working on quitting my new Old Navy habit. I MUST BE GOOD! After today of course since I bought a new pair of dark boyfriend jeans with no holes in them! I had to, I have been stalking these jeans for months AND I had $10 off, I practically made money buying them. FALL PLEASE COME SOONER!

Okay that’s all, BYE!

Wallet Lockdown

My best friend decided a few days ago that she wasn’t going to buy anything, aside from necessities, for an entire month. Today after I bought a skirt that I really didn’t need, decided I should probably do it with her. Challenges like these are so much easier when you have someone holding you accountable. We decided that if we need to buy something besides food or gas, that we will consult each other first to get an okay. The bad thing with this is that we are both really good at convincing each other to buy things. So we must be good! If we last a month then we get frozen yogurt together from the best place ever, 21 Choices!

After buying my skirt today, which by the way is SUPER cute and you will see it soon, my month starts today. I cannot buy anything until June 1st! This means I can’t go into my favorite stores because it is way too tempting and I can be weak. Target is going to be so hard! I can do this though! I can overcome being a shopaholic. I can and I will!

Here is to not shopping and saving the money that I work so hard to not have!

Tragic Shopping

My friend introduced me to a site called 6pm.com and it is currently getting me into trouble. This site has the best deals on designer shoes and tons of other items. I said I am in trouble because I have already bought two pairs of heels. How could I resist though when they have tons of shoes by one of my main men Steve Madden?

IMG_3686

I am absolutely in love with these two pairs. I haven’t had a chance to wear them yet but I have the perfect outfits in mind. Don’t worry, I’ll post them when they are debuted. The even more amazing part about these heels is the price. The black were only $44.99 while the tan were $35.99. What steals!

I am especially excited about these black ones. They are the perfect heel to dress casually or more dressed up. The heel is only 4 inches which is perfect for me since I am so tall.

As for the tan, I have been wanting ones like this since I have seen them on Pinterest paired with skinny jeans. I am so excited!

Check out 6pm.com! Happy shoe shopping!

A Day With a Two Year Old- The Mall

My bffffff wanted to go to the mall for a couple things, so she met me at my parents so we could go together. When I took the car seat from my sister she asked if I wanted the stroller. I told her no I wouldn’t need it. Well, I needed it. My bffffff and I decided to take on the mall without a stroller! My niece wanted to walk so we said only if she holds our hands. We each took a hand so that she would have no free hands. It worked for the most part, until she would slip her hand out of one of ours and literally touch everything in reach! When we were inside stores we held her though. She actually did really well to my surprise. There were no temper tantrums on the floor and nothing broken. Go aunties for conquering the mall!

Tragic Fashion- Bootie-Licious

I went into Target, my usual after work activity, in search of moon pies. Yes, moon pies. Tomorrow we are having a Redneck Pot-Luck at work and I was assigned moon pies. Anyways, upon walking into Target, I took up my usual route starting with the $1 section, then to the forbidden clothes. I know I should never walk through here yet I do 99% of the time. I picked up three different items, instantly thought of an outfit I can make out of it and the places I could wear it too, then put it down. You see, I am very good at this. Not putting the clothes back down, that’s just plain hard, no I’m good at visualizing an exact outfit, thus convincing myself to buy an article of clothing. It’s a pretty good talent I’d say because the outfit almost always comes out how I envisioned it. Again, thanks to my seven years in retail. This is why when my best friend wants a reason to buy something when she doesn’t really have one, she asks me. Well after creating several outfits and successfully putting them back, I walked to the shoe section. I don’t know why I do this to myself. This time, the shoes won the battle though. But really, how can you argue when you find shoes you have been looking for, and they are $8 off? It’s just not fair. So yes, I found my size laying on the floor (the last ones in my size! See, meant to be), tried them on, and was sold. I am FINALLY a proud owner of ankle booties with a small heel. I really have been looking for a cute pair that’s not that expensive, and now I have!

Tragic Fashion- Basics & Statements

If it’s one thing that us Tragic Girls are not tragic at, its fashion. We can both probably thank the fact that we both worked seven plus years in retail. Although I am finally out, my roomie is still in, and even though I’m out, that doesn’t mean I’ve stopped loving fashion. It’s a little obsession of mine. Okay I lied, it’s a huge obsession. I’m a huge shopaholic, of reasonably priced clothes though because let’s face it, us Tragic Girls are poor girls. I have this issue where I hate wearing an outfit more than once. Unless it’s a good outfit, that’s not something that stands out in your memory too much, and something I didn’t take a picture in, will I wear it again. If I do wear the outfit again I try to change it up a bit. To help this issue of mine, I’ve been investing a lot in basics. Not only are they essential for your wardrobe, but they are also very versatile pieces.
My recent pieces have been the basic tees and tanks from Target. I like these because the tees are boyfriend v-necks, so they aren’t tight, and the tanks are thick strapped like a muscle tank but without the ridges. Another plus is that the most they cost are $7-$10 which isn’t bad. Anyways I have been pairing these with all sorts of things like blazers, cardigans, chambray tops, scarves, and statement necklaces. I have worn these tops so many times yet every time is different.

Farewell to Retail

Until a little over a week ago I finished my last day in retail. What a long journey that was. Seven years and eight months to be exact. Do you know what it is like to work in the retail industry? You learn a lot about different people and you learn to have a lot of patience and self control. Don’t get me wrong I love the industry. Working in retail not only gave me a passion for style, but also gave me a serious shopping addiction. I was constantly bringing home new things to add to my closet and of course no closet is ever big enough. When I moved in May I had to condense my overly full walk-in to a small, one sided closet with sliding doors. You can imagine my struggle and the mess of clothes constantly on my floor. To be honest I don’t think that I have enough room in my closet and drawers to fit all of my clothes. This is why I hate doing laundry because I physically cannot put it away. Everything fits much better when there is a basket full of laundry needing to be done. Anyways, I am hoping now that I do not work in retail I will buy much less clothes. Except its been a week and I’ve bought about seven things and my excuse was that I needed it for my new job. I’m working on getting better I promise. Oh wait, I forgot I ordered a dress and a pair of pants too, they are on their way. But that it is!
With all this being said I now graduate to the next step in my life. I am going from a store to an office and I am actually really exited. I am learning something new that I can take to many different jobs. I’ve been training on accounts receivable and it’s been good. So I want to take this time to say farewell to retail, and no one deserves this farewell more than my customers.
Farewell to the customers who come in right when we open to return five items that they don’t have a legitimate excuse to return them except for, “I changed my mind,” because they probably bought them all to get free shipping on the one item that they actually wanted. You’re a joy to start my day off with. And farewell to the customers who want the large on the bottom of the perfectly folded stack of tee shirts and rather than nicely picking up the entire stack to get to their shirt, they grabbed the large and flip the entire stack into a heaping pile. It’s my pleasure to clean up the mess you leave.
The next customer is one of my favorites. Farewell to the customers who come in with their children and think they do not have to watch them since they are inside a store. I absolutely love being a baby sitter and not getting paid extra for it. You have really showed me how to be a good mother one day. For example one of my customers was so smart. She had a stroller with a baby and an older toddler who was walking, and she wanted to try some clothes on. That was no problem, we had a handicap dressing room for reasons such as this so women in wheelchairs or who have strollers can have enough room to try clothes on. So I went to let the woman into the large dressing room so that she could bring her stroller and her toddler in. Instead she had this great idea to leave her stroller and her toddler outside the dressing room so that she could have the big room to herself. While trying on her clothes her baby was crying and the toddler was running outside and hanging over the side of the fountain in front of our store. Some of the best parenting I have seen.
Last, but not least, I want to say farewell to the customers who will try anything to get something on sale. Customers and I will run into many discrepancies while doing a transaction. For instance the jeans I had scanned were $74, but the customer for some reason seemed to think that they are on sale for $20 and told me that I am wrong. I asked them to show me where they got them from. They walked me to the table that had two levels. The top level had tee shirts across the whole thing with a large sign clearly stating “Tee Sale $20”. The jeans were on the bottom row. I explained that the sign that said “Tee Sale $20” meant that the tees were $20. The customer then told me that our sign was way too confusing and that they don’t want the jeans and they left. There are also the customers that blatantly ask if they can have a discount at the register. When I ask if they have a coupon or a promotion code they tell me no. Then I tell them then no you cannot gave a discount. Lastly of course farewell to the tag switchers. The ones who pick up brand new items and switch the tag with a clearance item as if we do not know our own inventory, “I am so sorry ma’am but SOMEONE switched the tag on this item with a tag from clearance.” Or better yet if I catch it before I scan it I just rip the tag off and tell them that it is missing a price tag and I’ll go get a new one. Usually they decide that they don’t want that item anymore.
I could really go on and on about all of these fabulous customers. In fact I think I’ll start writing a book about them since there are so many, and I wouldn’t want to leave any out. Yes, consider this a preview of that book. These were just a few things to note that I will miss from my retail days. It was great and thanks to my customers there was never a dull moment. Ill be sure to add you all in the dedications page in my upcoming book. As painful as it is to leave, I must move on and grow up. If I am to ever go back to the retail industry it will be in a corporate office position. But don’t worry I’ll keep on shopping to remember the good old days. My closet is always hungry for more!
