Knotted Maxi

This is the third dress I got from ToSave and I am obsessed! It is my favorite which is why I saved it for last. I have been wanting to try this knotted maxi style for a while now, but now that I have I feel like I want to wear it every day. It is so comfy! The best outfits sometimes are the ones that look cute but feel like pajamas. I look like I am dressed up but really I am wearing an almost mumu/nightgown. Also, it has pockets! Enough said.

This dress comes in six different colors and is only $11.11! The last two dresses I got in a medium but since this one is like a tee shirt I didn’t want it to look too big, so I got it in a small and it looks perfect! The length was also good for me being tall. It is linked here, check it out!

OTK Boots!

I was asked about my taupe over the knee boots I was wearing in this post. Mine are actually two years ago from Steve Madden called the GORGEOUS. Those are sold out but here are a couple similar ones:

Just Peachy

This is the second dress I got from Tosave, and guess what? This one was only $12.07! It is a long sleeve, loose, mini crew neck dress and it is just so cute. The fact that it is so simple means you can dress it up or down. I dressed it up with over the knee boots and a statement necklace, but it can also be worn with sandals, casual boots, booties, flats, or even extra casual with Converse and a denim jacket. The material is lightly textured which gives it a little something extra, and the layers I guess you would call them, or the block stitching, gives it a more unique look, like it has more details yet is still super simple. As you can guess from the style, it is super comfy. I love being able to dress up a comfy dress, it just feels so much easier.

Just like the last one (post linked here), I got this dress in a medium again because I am tall. The length of this one is perfect. It also comes in navy and olive, but I “pink” (this one is called pink but it is definitely more peach) because this will work great when the seasons start to change back to spring. I am usually drawn to the brighter colors but the other two are super cute too. Find the dress linked here!

Little Striped Mini Dress

How cute is this little red and white striped mini dress?! I got it from Tosave and guess what, IT IS ONLY $6.75 and comes in six different colors. I wore mine to a breakfast gift exchange because the red and white are perfect for the holidays. I paired it with my over the knee tan boots and a simple pendant necklace to casually dress it up.

What is perfect about this dress is the fit. It kind of looks fitted, but is a little loose around your waist which makes it comfy yet still flattering. I felt so girly in it! I also love the sleeves. You know me and my sleeves right now (and about every other girl), got to have those details. I just love how they are ruffled and three quarter-length. I have learned that even though the long sleeves with ruffles or bell sleeves are so cute, they can be a pain when washing your hands or trying to not get them in your food. The sleeves on this dress are perfect. As soon as I walked into the restaurant I got a compliment on it.

My dress is linked here from Tosave. I got mine in a medium because I am tall, and it is just long enough on me. Check out the other colors and some of their other dresses, they are all such great prices! I will be reviewing two more this week so stay tuned!

Fancy Flats!

I know I got these almost a month ago but I just love them! I am talking about my mustard yellow, embellished slingback flats by Topshop at Nordstrom. When I first wanted them my friends were like nah don’t get those, except for Heather of course, she gets me and yellow gets both of us. I had them on my wish list since I saw them, I even already had an outfit planned to go with them which yes is the outfit below.

The day after black Friday, my style girl Taylor at the Brea Nordstrom text me to let me know they were having an additional 20% off sale items! I took a look and there they were! My flats, on sale, for like $27ish. Of course I bought them, they are just so cute! My outfit that I had in mind was my olive green chinos from A New Day at Target (um yes only $19.99), my gray and white striped sweater, also from A New Day at Target, and my Perry Street Necklace from Rocksbox. Look how cute it is!

Year End Party

Sorry it has taken me so long to write this post, everything has been so busy with the upcoming holidays! I am sure you can all agree. I cannot believe Christmas is in a week from today! Are you ready? I almost am… I think. I wrapped three gifts last night and felt very accomplished. I still have a few things I need to get though.

Anyways, last Friday the 8th was my work year end party. My boyfriend was away at training so I brought my best friend and we had a blast. The “dress” I wore I had had my eye on for like ever. It was on my wishlist at Nordstrom and I kept stalking it. Finally it went on sale for 40% off so I HAD to buy it. My reasoning for buying it was for my work year end party, yeah I think I bought this in like September, only four months early LOL! I put dress in quotes because it is actually a romper. I kept calling it a “romper dress” not knowing the correct term until my bffff and I settled on “dromper”. Come to find out thanks to Socialite via Instagram, it is called a “walk through romper”. If you are lost, basically it is a romper with a long back almost like a train. I guess technically it is like a mullet! I know that all sounds so silly but wait until you see it!…

See! I felt so beautiful and sexy in it! I don’t want to sound conceited but you know those outfits that just give you all sorts of confidence? Well this was one of those. There was one flaw though… it is very low cut which again yes is sexy however, in order for it to not fly open and show off your girls you have to tape it to your chest with dress tape. That’s fine, I put it on and got all taped up. I also brought the tape with me in my purse because after my first experience with dress tape it starts to come off when you get sweaty and I knew we would be dancing. Before the party my bfff an I met up with my manger and his wife for dinner and right before we left dinner I went to the ladies room to re-tape a little before heading to the party. Once in a stall I realized I was completely taped to my chest, and wearing a romper. THERE WAS NO GETTING OUT OF IT, which meant no bathroom for me! Um I was slightly panicked as I feel I may have the smallest bladder in the world. I felt slightly dumb for not thinking of that before making this wardrobe choice.

I ended up getting through it though and we had a lot of fun. We rolled in at about 9:45pm, got some drinks, took photos in the photo booth, danced. THEN at 11pm a surprise guest appeared… SNOOP DOGG! Last year Nelly performed but we were thinking no one would be there this year since we were having “celebrity DJs” which I had no idea who they were. Snoop was fun and we danced to his show for an hour. Once he finished we decided to leave but not before we got a picture with the former Angel player Hank Conger! All in all, a great and eventful night, I just love being able to dress up.

Outfit details!

My “dress”/”dromper”/”walk through romper” was from Socialite at Nordstrom (unfortunately it is sold out since I bought it a while ago but they do have this new one I am obsessed with: linked here!)

When You Need an Outfit Idea and Have No Time You Go with The Heather Look

Scenario: You stay up too late doing something totally unnecessary and now it’s 15 minutes before you have to leave for photo shoot day for your very trendy sister’s fashion blog. Your main role is photographer, but you’d like just a couple cute snaps of yourself while you’re in perfect lighting with someone else to hold the camera and make you feel like a model, you know? You told yourself you’d wake up early to style your hair and lay out your outfits the night before, knowing that this is literally never the case. Now your hair is gonna look like… well, the way that it looks. You’re slapping make-up on while you drive. There are things in life you can fake, but there’s one question you can’t ignore: but what will you wear?!

I find myself in versions of this scenario on a constant basis. I never leave myself enough time! While I’ve learned to embrace my messy hair and draw on eyebrows at streetlights, outfit choices aren’t so easy.

This is why it is absolutely essential to have your own style panel!

By this, I mean that I will take the time to emulate certain people’s styles so that, when the time comes, I don’t have to plan ahead. Sometimes, these panelists are fictional. I went through a nice long Blair Waldorf stage. Most of the time though, they’re real people.

When I notice a friend with a really great signature style, I can’t help but think of that while I’m shopping. Would Brittany wear this dress? This makes throwing things together so much easier! Why? Because I can leave myself out of it! Because I can picture her look, I can ask myself, what shoes would Brittany wear with this? Or, even better, I can ask Brittany what she’d wear with it or stalk her insta!

Back to my original scenario, what was I to do for my outfit changes? I grabbed a sweater that I knew Brittany would wear (because it was hers and she wanted it back…), a dress that I know I can rely on, and a top that I bought from Francesca’s specifically because I had seen Heather, another style panelist around here, wearing something similar and I loooove her style! And because I was already picturing her boho, classic style, it was easy to picture what she might wear with it. I immediately had a flashback to the first time I met Heather, when my dad saw her wearing a cute crystal necklace… and thought she was a witch. I was thinking of that moment when I bought my crystal necklace from Charming Charlie.

Anyway, the “Heather Witch” aesthetic made me feel put together with almost no effort. Gotta love having cute friends to do the work for you and sisters to make your accidental red-light bronzer overload look like the glow of a queen!

Rocksbox!

Have you ever heard of Rocksbox? If you have you know how cool it is, if you haven’t then let me tell you! Rocksbox is a jewelry subscription box that delivers three pieces of designer jewelry to your door for $21 a month! You get to wear all three pieces and return them, OR if you absolutely love one, two, or all three pieces you can buy them. This is my first box and I already purchased one of the items… it was just too perfect to pass up!

What I love about this subscription is that fact that you are technically renting your jewelry. I like trying new accessories but I often end up with a lot of pieces I bought for a specific event and then don’t wear for a really long time. With Rocksbox I get to have new pieces all the time and not worry about buying them full price and leaving them to collect dust. If during the month of my box I have a piece I have worn multiple times and can see myself wearing it even more, then I can buy it. It is like testing out your accessories before buying committing.

In my current set I got a statement necklace, a pair of earrings, and a bracelet. My favorite is the necklace, this is the piece I bought:

img_0527

It is the Colette Necklace by Perry Street and it is absolutely beautiful! I have worn it three times already and I already can’t wait to wear it again. It is just so sparkly.

The earrings I received are called the Vivienne Ear Climbers by Gorjana. I have never tried ear climbers before but they are so cool! These ones were fun yet still dainty. It is a different way to wear fun earrings without having to wear dangly ones.

Lastly I got a bracelet by Kendra Scott called the Laura Pinch Bracelet in Turquoise Magnesite. I love this style of bracelet because one they are dainty and you can layer them, and two, you can adjust this type of cuff which is great when you have thin wrists like I do.

img_0528

If you love accessories or you want to get into wearing them, this is a great subscription box for anyone. I cannot wait to see what comes in my next set! When you sign up you add at least 30 items to your wish list, then your assigned stylist will choose items for your from you list. I was so excited and there were so many cute pieces that I added 160 to my wish list when I first signed up… Before your set is ready to ship out you get the chance to preview it and change out one item if you want, or you can just be surprised and see it when it comes in. If you want to give it a try use my code “theblawxoxo” to get your first month free! My sister already signed up and ended up buying the same necklace as me because she saw me wearing it Check out Rocksbox here!

Beans N’ Leaves

img_0490

I wanted to do an official post about my box from Beans N’ Leaves. If you follow me on Instagram you may have seen my awkward unboxing on my story where I shared everything that came in my Beans N’ Leaves box (when I listened to it I was like, is that really my voice?), so weird! Anyways, Beans N’ Leaves is a new subscription box for coffee and tea lovers. It is like the best thing I have ever heard of and I was fortunate enough to try them out! I am working on liking tea more, it has to be sweet for me, so of course I chose a coffee box.

img_0488

When it arrived I was so excited. I was surprised to see the sizes of the bags of coffee beans, they were bigger than I expected so it will be nice to be able to make more than one cup of coffee with them. My box came with four different bags of coffee and let me tell you, they all smell so good! My favorite is the one from Dark Horse Coffee Roasters. The part of this package that made me want to open it right away, “Tastes like dark chocolate, tangerine, and brown sugar,” um YUM! I opened the bag and took a deep breath, I almost wanted to eat one of the beans right then and there it smelled so good. I think I may be in love.

img_0501

The second bag I got is from Lanna Coffee Co. The description of this roast is, “A bright roast with crisp floral notes, bourbon sweetness and a clean velvety finish {highest caffeine content}”. Yes hello, as soon as I read that last bit I knew I needed to try it, the more caffeine the better right? This one smells like heaven too, I almost feel like I get energy just from inhaling its wonderful aroma.

img_0497

Third and fourth are two different coffees from Copa-Vida: GO. and ENJOY. GO. is rich while ENJOY. is a medium roast. Both smell darker than the other two bags but still oh so good. I like the cute little bags they came in.

img_0502

Lastly my box also came with a few goodies. The first was an organic nutrition bar called Simple Squares in Cinna-Clove. It is gluten free, certified paleo, and I can pronounce every ingredient in it. Second was Just Panela sugar packets. This cane sugar is “hand cut, hand kettled, hand crafted. 100% unprocessed, unrefined and organic”. Third were these amazing coffee candies in the flavors: coffee, coffee with cream, and cinnamon coffee. Last is the cutest little coffee scooper ever! One scoop measures one tbsp. of coffee. Now I am official, I have a scooper and can stop using the plastic scoop that comes with my generic, boring, grocery store bought coffee.

This box is truly amazing. Coffee not only is everything, but it is a social aspect of our daily lives. This is a way to bring variety and spice things up in your own kitchen. I also think it is something impressive to have when guests are over. I always think my friends with their cool, different coffees are so cultured for having a different brand than the ones we see everyday at the grocery store. This is a conversation starter! A Beans N’ Leaves box would also make a great gift to give so if you need an idea for someone for Christmas this is a good one.

Check out the Beans N’ Leaves site here and their Instagram here! I also have to add that the founder and co-founder are truly amazing people (yes I may know them =]), but people who are passionate put real work, effort, and love into their work and that is what they are doing in this company. They have created a quality product that exceeds your standards. Thanks you two! xoxo

Little Ruffles

This is my THIRD post about a ruffle top! Convinced I am obsessed yet? I absolutely love the little dainty ruffles down the front of this button up blouse from Target (unfortunately it is sold out because I bought it a little while ago). The little ruffles give it just enough fun detail without being too much. Target’s new brand, A New Day, in my opinion is doing really well. I can always find something I like and the price point is great. When I saw the pieces coming out I thought they would cost more but they are around the same price or even cheaper than some of the other Target brands.

I paired this top with my Topshop high waist black cigarette pants from Nordstrom (which I seem to be pairing with everything lately). One thing I love about this pants is that they make your waist look so tiny! This combo made a great work outfit. I finished it off with my red Steve Madden heels and a red lip for a pop of color.  The only thing I do not care for on this shirt is that the sides come up high almost like a slit. This makes it to where you have to wear higher waisted pants whether you tuck it in or not because then your stomach shows, which is not really appropriate for the office.

Check it out! 🙂
