Long Time No Talk!

Well hello there! It has been so long. I know I am late, I was supposed to do my first post on my birthday last week buuuuuut we still don’t have internet in the new house. So here is just a quick little life update!

If you don’t remember, when I last logged off we were packing and getting ready to move. We are all in the new house BUT unpacking is almost as bad as packing so there is stuff EVERYWHERE! It doesn’t help when you are super busy either. Slowly but surely we will get everything away.

So here we go:

  • My reason for taking a month-ish off from the blog was to finish some studying I am working on. I wanted to finish my first section by the end of January and let me tell you, I almost didn’t make it. I was just about to give myself a one day grace period (that I was really upset about) but I somehow pushed through and got A TON done on the 31st so I was really happy with myself. I even got a 98% on my first section. Now I am a little behind on my second but it is okay. I am taking a 5 day weekend this weekend to visit Tabitha in Vegas so I will do some catch-up out here.
  • I turned 29 last week and I do not know how I feel about it haha. It feels kind of old but not so different. I am excited to see where it takes me. Last year around the sun as a twenty-something.
  • I have hit my year mark of being single. It isn’t a bad thing, I made it through. I was actually surprised at how fast it went. I feel like I only really felt left out last month when we had a surprise party for Heather. It wasn’t anything bad and it was a super quick moment (I almost feel silly for writing about it), but when we got to dinner I obviously wanted to sit by Heather, as did everyone else, but everyone was coupled off so if I sat with her, someone’s significant other wouldn’t be at the table. So I ended up at the very end of the whole party with my two sisters, WHICH WAS FINE, but still there was a moment of me being like dang.
  • Blog stuff:
    • I have been working on having fun and trying new styles. Although I haven’t been blogging I have been active on Instagram so make sure you are following along! I just want it to be more fun. Not more of this stand and pose. I am generally a silly person and I want my feed to portray that.
    • I am revamping the Style Panel and I am excited to get started! I got my girls recommitted and am trying to do things a little different. Stay tuned, the first post should be coming next month!

I think that is all the updates I have, I know not too exciting right now, but some fun things are coming up I hope! Next month Heather and I are volunteering at the El Paseo Fashion week and I am so excited. We are still planning on some fun local adventures too. Just trying to go with the flow here and have some fun.

I miss you all! Back to studying I go -_-

XOXO- B

PS – this was the cute af coffee shop we went to last night called Gäbi Coffee

Beans N’ Leaves

img_0490

I wanted to do an official post about my box from Beans N’ Leaves. If you follow me on Instagram you may have seen my awkward unboxing on my story where I shared everything that came in my Beans N’ Leaves box (when I listened to it I was like, is that really my voice?), so weird! Anyways, Beans N’ Leaves is a new subscription box for coffee and tea lovers. It is like the best thing I have ever heard of and I was fortunate enough to try them out! I am working on liking tea more, it has to be sweet for me, so of course I chose a coffee box.

img_0488

When it arrived I was so excited. I was surprised to see the sizes of the bags of coffee beans, they were bigger than I expected so it will be nice to be able to make more than one cup of coffee with them. My box came with four different bags of coffee and let me tell you, they all smell so good! My favorite is the one from Dark Horse Coffee Roasters. The part of this package that made me want to open it right away, “Tastes like dark chocolate, tangerine, and brown sugar,” um YUM! I opened the bag and took a deep breath, I almost wanted to eat one of the beans right then and there it smelled so good. I think I may be in love.

The second bag I got is from Lanna Coffee Co. The description of this roast is, “A bright roast with crisp floral notes, bourbon sweetness and a clean velvety finish {highest caffeine content}”. Yes hello, as soon as I read that last bit I knew I needed to try it, the more caffeine the better right? This one smells like heaven too, I almost feel like I get energy just from inhaling its wonderful aroma.

Third and fourth are two different coffees from Copa-Vida: GO. and ENJOY. GO. is rich while ENJOY. is a medium roast. Both smell darker than the other two bags but still oh so good. I like the cute little bags they came in.

Lastly my box also came with a few goodies. The first was an organic nutrition bar called Simple Squares in Cinna-Clove. It is gluten free, certified paleo, and I can pronounce every ingredient in it. Second was Just Panela sugar packets. This cane sugar is “hand cut, hand kettled, hand crafted. 100% unprocessed, unrefined and organic”. Third were these amazing coffee candies in the flavors: coffee, coffee with cream, and cinnamon coffee. Last is the cutest little coffee scooper ever! One scoop measures one tbsp. of coffee. Now I am official, I have a scooper and can stop using the plastic scoop that comes with my generic, boring, grocery store bought coffee.

This box is truly amazing. Coffee not only is everything, but it is a social aspect of our daily lives. This is a way to bring variety and spice things up in your own kitchen. I also think it is something impressive to have when guests are over. I always think my friends with their cool, different coffees are so cultured for having a different brand than the ones we see everyday at the grocery store. This is a conversation starter! A Beans N’ Leaves box would also make a great gift to give so if you need an idea for someone for Christmas this is a good one.

Check out the Beans N’ Leaves site here and their Instagram here! I also have to add that the founder and co-founder are truly amazing people (yes I may know them =]), but people who are passionate put real work, effort, and love into their work and that is what they are doing in this company. They have created a quality product that exceeds your standards. Thanks you two! xoxo

Valentine’s Countdown: Day 5

In my day 3 post I mentioned how I had one more lip color to talk about (catch up here) and here it is! Along with the ‘True Love’ color I bought, I also got this one called ‘Beet it’. You can probably guess the shade by the name right? Yep it is a beet/berry color and is soooo pretty! It is bold like the bright pink/red of ‘True Love’ but in a different way. I think this dark lip is a little more sexy and great for going out at night, it just pops so much, especially if you do not wear dark lipstick that often. This darker shade would be super cute with blush pink for a Valentine’s Day date. Again this is from Lime Crime and is another matte liquid lipstick, or what they call their Velvetines.

Can you also witness how cute this Valentine’s Day mug is? I got it from Target (of course) and I made myself throw an old mug away to get this one because my cupboard is so full. It would make a super cute little V-day gift to fill with candy or whatever other little things and tie a ribbon around the handle. Tomorrow I am posting the the little candy gift I am making for my boyfriend so be sure to come back! If you missed any of the previous days find them here: Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, and Day 4.

Kiss me I’m Caffeinated

Patio Ideas

Recently I have been really obsessed with the idea of our patio. Our small little apartment patio only has a mini fridge on it. It’s so sad! I have been wanting to get a table and chairs forever and I even bought a super cute rug at the end of last summer that is still sitting rolled up on the floor. I finally decided what I want for it and thanks to Pinterest I get to MAKE it into exactly what I want. It’s a small space so I’m using the metal fold up chairs and a TV tray, this way everything is colaspable and perfect for a small area. I will be painting the chairs the color I want and I seriously cannot wait! The weather has been so nice that I’m sad every Saturday and Sunday morning that I can’t drink my coffee and read on the patio. I will for sure be doing before an after photos! I also drove by Home Depot this week and out front they had a yellow pot with yellow daisies in it and I have not been able to stop thinking about them since! They will be the centerpiece of my patio. What better way to welcome spring! Anyways, stay tuned! Cute patio coming your way soon!

Tragic Award- Hot Grandma

I went into the gas station this morning to get a coffee, or really my usual concoction consisting of about two shots of coffee, a 3 second push of hot cocoa, the then rest filled with vanilla cappuccino (it’s quite delightful), and in the gas station I saw a sight. Such a sight that I must share. Picture this… An old woman, like old, with bleach blond and/or white frizzy hair. She was wearing black sheer tights with usual grandma sandals. BUT she was sporting a tight black mini skirt with a pink tank. In this tank were two HUGE boobs that literally hung to her elbows. On top of all this was big, chunky, turquoise jewelry all around her neck and wrists. I just couldn’t understand and not to mention couldn’t stop staring. She wins the tragic award of the day!
