Wraps and Cats

First, I wanted to make sure I posted about about my cute little wrap top! It is from BooHoo and is just perfect for fall. Not only is it good to pair with pants for work like I did here with the olive, but it is great for a casual look as well. I traded out the the work pants for black denim shorts (because fall in SoCal means still 100 degrees), a black choker, and black booties and boom, casual going out after work look. You know, because I go out so much after work… Anyways! The wrap top is linked here and is a really good price (look for the 50% off code)! Also everyone always asks me about these heels, they are Steve Madden but no longer online so I linked similar ones here!

Second, can you please look at how cute these cat eye sunglasses are?! They are so fun and different. I love all of the funky sunglasses right now, they just add a little extra to your look. Mine are from Hashtag.Sunglasses. They were kind of hard to pick out because I couldn’t make up my mind out of all of the cute options. If you are curious check them out and use my code NewShades4You for 10% off your order. Mine are linked here and come in pink too!

Fall Jacket

I bought this jacket probably over a month ago but have only had like one chance to wear it. Thanks southern California fall. I just want it to be cool enough to layer, is that so much to ask? No!

I love this jacket because it can easily go with work outfits in place of a blazer, AND it can be paired with jeans for a casual look. I was hesitant about it at first. I found it at Target and did my usual walk by a few times before finally trying it on, I was intrigued but not certain. It has so much pattern for a jacket. So I did my normal test and left it, thought about it all night and went back to buy it the next day. I love it and it is from my favorite brand at Target: Who What Wear.

Below I style it for work with a simple off white top, black slacks and my black Steve Madden mules. It is basically my casual outfit with the pants subbed out. I envision lighter, non-fitted, ankle length jeans instead of the slacks (they are currently on my Nordstrom wish list), can you see it? I will try that next. Until then check out below!

Midi Skirt!

I’ve worn a variation of this outfit once before, but it was geared more for summer. With fall literally around the corner, as in tomorrow (I cannot even contain my excitement) I paired this beautiful skirt with a long sleeve chambray top instead of the sleeveless. I just love it and apparently everyone else did too because I got a lot of compliments. These skirts are so easy yet look so dressed up (I say “these” because yes I have a second one). I found them on BooHoo and they have a lot of different styles, plus it was really inexpensive. I love simple outfits that look really put together. The other good thing about this skirt is all the options you can wear with it because it has so many colors in the print. Perfect for all seasons!

Favorite Fall Outfit

This is probably my favorite fall outfit this year. The only things that were new was the vest and the boots (that I have posted about multiple times now, I just love them!). I hadn’t been able to find a vest I liked and I’ve been wanting one for awhile now. Finally I found one at Old Navy and got it half off for the Black Friday sale! It’s so cute, super warm, and isn’t that shiny material, instead it’s a woven material with a herringbone pattern. I have been really into pattern mixing and I think my favorite is stripes and plaid. This plaid blanket scarf is seriously the best and is the best combo of colors. I got it last year on Amazon for like $12!

Girly Dress

I love wearing dresses. Not only are they cute but they are just so easy. I’m pretty sure I’ve said this before but it’s a whole outfit in one piece of clothing. Anything you add to it just enhances it. I found this purple floral dress at Target and I was so surprised. The style and print are so cute, their Xhilaration brand has really been stepping up their style and have come out with a lot of cute new dresses. I love how girly this one makes me feel.

Although this dress does perfectly well on its own, for work purposes I added a striped white and navy blazer. The pattern doesn’t match but I have been so into that lately, ESPECIALLY stripes and floral prints. It just works. I also loved the whole color scheme: navy, purple, and white. As for shoes, instead of pairing my perfectly matching navy pumps, I tried nude heels and it worked! I took a chance with these ones as the heel is a nude snakeskin but the color is subtle enough to blend. When I wore this outfit out I ended up wearing a chunky nude sandal heel by Steve Madden.

This dress can quickly be changed from work to a more casual/going out outfit. I ditched the blazer and heels and added a blue statement necklace and over the knee taupe boots. So. Perfect. This definitely might be a holiday party combo.

Black & Yellow

Hello there!

It has been some time, sorry about that! I just wanted to share an outfit and a quick life update. I totally felt like a teacher today with my collard (half) button-up and my cardigan. I love black, white, and yellow together so throwing this yellow cardigan over this black and white gingham print top was a no brainer. My work is pretty cold but these layers together make it to where you do not need a jacket. There are sometimes a jacket can just throw off an outfit you know? The top isn’t too thin and the sweater is fitted so together they keep you pretty warm. I paired this combo with black ankle slacks and some black and “wood” pumps and boom, easy office outfit.

As for life, I have been at my new job for almost a month and a half and I am still loving it! Trying to make new outfits everyday is so fun and actually being able to wear heels is like a dream come true. For anyone who knows me well they know that when it comes to heels I am pretty self conscious about wearing them because of my height. I am about 5′ 8″ so with heels I am easily 6′. I have been working on not caring though and I wear heels majority of the week and it makes me so happy!

I can’t believe its already the end of October. I feel like fall just started and now it seems like it is almost over and it hasn’t even gotten cold yet! I am happy that the temperature has dropped a little and we had a couple days of rain, but can it just be cloudy so I can wear a scarf and drink hot chocolate? Halloween is this weekend and I haven’t even seen Hocus Pocus yet this year. Why does this season get away from us so quickly?! Anyways, although the holidays will be upon us shortly I am excited for the seasons. I am working on getting a bunch of new blogs and new outfits together this weekend so if all goes as planned I will start showing them to you next week!

Also, next month is NaNoWriMo, National Novel Writing Month, and I am going to participate again this year! For those of you who do not know the goal for NaNoWriMo is to write 50,000 words in 30 days, that is about 1,667 words day which is totally doable, you just have to be disciplined. I did pretty well last year but different holiday events rolled around and then Thanksgiving and I let myself slack too much. I didn’t hit 50,000 words but I didn’t fully expect myself to. This year I have a new novel idea that I have been playing around with for two years so I am a little more confident. I want to hit 50,000 words this time. Basically my November will consist of a lot of writing every day, squeezing in blogging, and working out and everything else… except Netflix (sigh!). Wish me luck as it starts! I will keep you updated and will talk to you soon with some new styles!

Sorry this post wasn’t as quick as I thought lol! Happy Tuesday!

Navy Stripes and Everything Nice!

Yesterday I finally got to wear my other outfit I got as my “congratulations you got yourself a new job, you deserve this” purchase. I have been waiting to wear this one! Of course again it is from Maison Jules at Macy’s (I told you I was obsessed), but the pants are Old Navy. You may recognize this ruffle-hem top because I posted about the polkadot one on my first day of work. It was so cute I had to buy two. They are simple, girly, and comfy, and you can wear them with jeans too to be casual. The navy striped blazer is the most comfortable blazer I have ever worn! A lot of blazers, at least in my experience can be restricting, but this one is so stretchy it’s awesome. I was so comfortable all day which is great for the office. The pants are my new Pixie mid-rise ankle pants from Old Navy, these are so comfy too! I usually buy my ankle pants from Target but I think I actually like these better… shh don’t tell Target.

Lastly, I just can’t get over these flats, they just make such a statement I wear them every chance I get! They are plum, pointed, and have crossing ankle straps, basically the equation of perfection. If I haven’t mentioned before they are from Forever 21.

New Blouse!

Last week at work was spirit week so I didn’t get a chance to wear my new blouse until today. It’s so dainty and girly, I love it! It can also be worn with a lot of different bottoms, causal or dressy. I got it at Macy’s when I got the olive ankle slacks I posted last week, which I’m also wearing here. This outfit was so simple yet so cute. I went to Starbucks on the way to work and this older man told me how well I color coordinated because my purse matched! It was such a funny compliment to me but still nice.

Hope you had a happy Monday!

Flannels and Fall

Fall is finally here! I want to jump for sweet cinnamon joy into a pile of freshly raked leaves. I bought a new flannel from Target a few weeks ago and have been waiting until yesterday to wear it. I also refused to get a Pumpkin Spice Latte until it was officially Fall, so yesterday was a great day, I wore my flannel and got a PSL. Now it’s time to get some new Fall decorations and impatiently wait for cooler weather. There are so many outfits I want to wear but it’s still too hot! Such a southern Cali struggle right? I want a scarf and knee high socks stat.

I am sooo in love with this flannel because the colors are perfect for this new season. I already have my next outfit planned for it too. Flannels are great because they are casual, yet you can dress them up for the office. Like yesterday I wore them with my navy Maison Jules skinny ankle slacks. You can also tuck them into high waist pants, and my personal favorite (that I didn’t do this time) is add a statement necklace under the collar. Also did you see my new heels again? See I told you I’d be wearing them a lot. Lastly this purse is amazing and perfect and was only like $30 from Charming Charlie.  Check it out!

Happy Friday!

Fall is Coming!

The countdown to Fall has been on and we finally have 2 days left! For those of you who don’t know, mark your calendars because the first day of Fall is this Thursday, September 22nd! Everyone should be basic this day and get a Pumpkin Spice Latte to celebrate, that’s my plan and you can bet I already have my outfit picked out too. Fall is my favorite season (clearly). Not just for the cooler weather and the layering, and warmer colors, but it just gives me this feeling. I’m sure you know what I mean, like when you walk in a store that smells like cinnamon. You feel like you should be by your Christmas tree in fuzzy socks, drinking hot chocolate with way too many marshmallows. It’s just a warm, happy feeling, I can’t wait.

The fall styles have been out and I’m starting to jump right into them like a pile of leaves. Looking at my closet I feel like majority of my clothes are Fall colors and I’ve been trying to wait to wear them, but now I can! This weekend I stopped by Macy’s (even though I shouldn’t have) because they were having their VIP sale. Of course I went to my fav. Maison Jules. The line really has the best work clothes that are trendy and not terribly expensive. The best part is there is almost always something on sale AND you can use your Macy’s coups. on this line. I found a pair of olive ankle slacks that were already on sale for 40% off making them $29.99 and they had an additional 25% off, AND THEN the cashier had another coupon she used for me which made them even cheaper! I think they came out to $20 or just below when full price they should have been $50. I love sales! I got this polkadot top as well. Not as good of a deal as the pants but still 25% off plus the cashier’s coupon. It’s just so cute I couldn’t pass it up, and it’s a good quality. Going through my closet I’m trying to get rid of my old stuff that was just cheapy, like the million chiffon button ups I have but never wear because they are too thin. I’m trying to slowly replace them with better quality pieces.

Lastly, did you see my shoes?! I am so in love and what’s better is that they are so comfortable! My bfffff and I had been talking about this style, then Friday night I went out with my other best friend for her sister’s 21st birthday and she had a pair like these but a different color. I became obsessed all night that I went and found them on Saturday afternoon. I found them at G Stage for $28.99. I’ve had them since Saturday and have already worn them with 2 outfits, soon to be 3 towards the end of the week.
