Last HB Hoorah

It’s official! I am finally moved out of my apartment in Huntington Beach. It is very bittersweet and the last time I drove away after turning in my keys I almost felt like crying (such an emotional girl). I am happy that the packing is over though. Packing is literally one of the worst things, what is even worse is packing an entire apartment alone! My boyfriend totally owes me! (side update, he is doing really well in basic training! He graduates on August 5th!) I would also like to thank my bffff because I literally would not have gotten the apartment packed without her.

The plan was to move everything out last Sunday, so my bffff, younger sister and I, wanted to do a last HB hoorah and do a few things that we had been wanting to do, like go to the OC Swap meet. The swap meet is awesome because there is so much there and it only costs $2.00 to get in. Even if you don’t buy anything it is just fun to look around. We made our way through a bunch of vendors and saw a lot of cute clothes. I found these awesome sunglasses too! There was a fun pair online that I have been wanting to buy but haven’t wanted to spend $50.00 on them, but here I found a different fun pair I liked and they were two for $15.00! Naturally I bought two pairs. They are so fun, I have been wearing them everyday.

We also found this one booth that sells hair bows, Mia C’s Bowtique. She had a lot of cute bows including wrap type ones. My bffff ended up buying 5 different bows, three of which represent her teams, hockey, football, and baseball.

One of my favorite booths was a mobile boutique called Jules Vault. It was the cutest vintage truck that you could go inside to shop. I liked basically every piece of clothing they sold! I will definitely be looking for them again.

Life is too short to wear boring clothes- Jules Vault

After the swap meet we ran a couple errands and next on the agenda were rainbows from Aloha Grill down on Main Street. If you don’t know, a rainbow is probably one of the best alcoholic beverages you can get. It is like six different slushy drinks totaling about ten different alcohols, mostly rum. The other great thing about these drinks is that they are only $7! You can get two to tipsy in less than $15, if that’s not a yummy deal then I don’t know what is.

We ended the night with a walk on the pier down to Ruby’s Diner to get shakes. It was the best chocolate banana shake of my life!

It ended up being the perfect last day to the end of my adventure in Huntington Beach. The next day my dad and his friend came to help me move out and I was sore for about four days since the elevator in our building was broken and we had to carry everything down stairs. As I said, it is really bittersweet to move. I loved the atmosphere of living down there, the commute to work was just really terrible. I also wished we would have utilized our location more. When you live at the beach it is easy to take it for granted and never really go. It makes me sad that every time I get off work my iPhone tells me that it will take me 50 minutes to get home because it thinks I am still living there. But I know that my boyfriend and I will be on to our next adventure in our life and it won’t be the last, so on to the next thing!

Jump For Joy With PLUMP FOR JOY

Okay, so hair is like my thing. It wasn’t always but it is now and has been for awhile. My mom would have never thought this could happened since my hair wouldn’t even hold a curl for an hour when I was little. In high school I discovered that I could actually curl my hair well, and it would stay for more than a day! In college I won’t the “Best Hair Award” in my sorority (I am pretty sure I have mentioned that before so clearly I am a tad proud). I always used an inch and a quarter curling iron, that was until I went to Italy the semester before I graduated and fried my curling iron in a European plug. I was completely lost. Finally, in 2013 I got my secret weapon that I still use today, a pink HerStyler straightener that curls my hair so amazingly that sometimes I can’t even believe it is a straightener.

I have a new favorite thing. Recently I have been really into big hair. The only thing I am good at is curling it, I am not so creative with other things (but I want to learn!). At Target while buying more Not Your Mother’s dry shampoo, because come on, every girl needs a good dry shampoo for those days you just can’t, I saw another Not Your Mother’s product, Plump for Joy – Thickening Hair Lifter. It says for fine, thin hair. Well I have neither so I figured it would probably REALLY work on my hair. It is almost a gel that sprays out. You spray it into your palm, rub your hands together then scrunch into your hair. I prefer to scrunch it in with my hair flipped over forward, then I flip it over when I am done and BOOM! Big hair! It is amazing and looks great! I love that I don’t get that crunchy texture with it. One last awesome thing about this product… the bottle has an open and a close tab so you can throw it in a bag and not worry about leaks! Best. Thing. Ever.

I seriously suggest trying this if you like big volume. Have some fun with it after all, the bigger the hair, the close you are to heaven right?!

I couldn’t find this one online at Target so I linked the actual Not your Mother’s site, you can also buy this at Ulta and I have even bought the dry shampoo at Vons!              Not Your Mother’s Plump for Joy Thickening Hair Lifter

Wedding Season!

Dressing up for a wedding is so fun! You get to wear a dress, heels, do good make up, and actually style your hair in more than just curls, if you want. I love it! I think I also like the fact that I get to buy a new dress. I already have pictures in all of my dresses so obviously I can’t wear any of the ones in my closet to a wedding! Duh! The things I tell myself to buy new clothes…

I had been thinking for awhile what I should wear to my brother’s and new sister’s wedding. I had no ideas but knew when I saw the right dress I would know. I had come across a red dress at Target that I really liked, but thought I shouldn’t try it since it was red and I have red hair. Then my bffff tried it on and sent me a picture. Every time I went to Target I would see this dress. I started calling it the “lamp shade dress”, you’ll see why. Finally I went into Target again and decided to try it on. The Target Cartwheel app. had a coupon for 40% off dresses. Trying it on I LOVED it! I had the idea of wearing it with camel tan heels and gold accessories. After confirming it looked okay with my hair with about three friends, I bought it.

I knew exactly which shoes I wanted to pair with it. I had actually bought them before and returned them for the black pair. They are a camel tan peep-toe platform with a thick heel and an ankled strap. So cute and SO comfy! I wore them for 7 hours on the day of the wedding and was perfectly fine.

I went to find a necklace about two days before the wedding, I knew I just needed something gold so it wouldn’t be too hard to find. As usual I went to Charming Charlie because that store never fails. I found a gold necklace that had the same detail idea as the dress, fringe-ish. I also found a camel tan clutch on sale for $8.99! I ended up using it the entire weekend (but forgot to hold it in my picture, oops.).

I felt very happy with my choice for this wedding. Now I just need a new dress for one of my best friend’s bridal shower, bachelorette party, and wedding… I told you, it is wedding season!

Knox Rose Roundup

For any of you who follow my Instagram (@the.B.Law) you’ve seen my recent new obsession, Knox Rose at Target. This line has just gotten me so excited! The style is mostly boho, yet some are only slightly boho, if that even makes sense. I have been getting more into this style lately thanks to my Roomie, thanks girl! In this short time span I have acquired four new pieces from the line… oops? Two were on sale though so it is okay…actually all four were on sale so it’s definitely okay! Anyways let’s check it out!

The first one I got was this tank that I like to call my indian top but it is actually named the Embroidered Tank Top in cream. You’ll see what I mean when you see the embroidery. I LOVE this tank! It has the cutest fringe detail on the bottom and is pretty long on, but not too long where it looks weird with shorts. On Memorial Day weekend I wore it with my boyfriend shorts from Old Navy, and my new Gladiator sandals and hat both from Target as well.

Shop this look here! Embroidered Tank Top Cream– Knox Rose at Target | Straw Hat Panama Two Tone Tan – Merona at Target | Edyth Gladiator Sandals in Cognac – Merona at Target | Boyfriend Shorts– Old Navy

The second top I got, well actually I bought the first tank, the gladiator sandals, and this second top together because they were all 30% for Memorial Day weekend. This top is too cute! I love it because it is kind of different. This is one of the examples of how some of the Knox Rose pieces can be slightly boho.

The ruffle peasant arms and ruffle peplum bottom make this top feel so girly! There is also a subtle polkadot detail on the entire top that is in the same color as the rest of the fabric however it is textured, you can feel the polkadots. The crocheted neck helps to keep the boho feel. Also how awesome is this bright red?! I recently discovered that I can actually can wear red with red hair, and I like it! I am wearing red this weekend too but that is for a different post!

Shop this look here! Peplum Blouse in red- Knox Rose at Target | Stay All Day Vinyl Lip Gloss in Watermelon Pink- Stila (mine is Melon Vinyl but they do not have it online so this is this closest- this gloss is seriously AMAZING)

This third piece I found this past Friday and was on the clearance rack for $19! It is something I normally wouldn’t wear but I fell in love! It is perfect to add a little something to your outfit!

I cannot wait to figure out what I can wear this white and indigo Tie Dye Vest with next! It is just so fun, I wore it to the zoo on Saturday when I went with my boyfriend’s mom, sister, and nephew. It is the perfect addition to a simple and casual summer outfit to do just about anything in!

Shop this look here! Tie Dye Vest – Knox Rose at Target | any plain white tank | Jana Thong Sandals in Cognac – Merona at Target | Straw Hat Panama Two Tone Tan – Merona at Target

Lastly I found a beige oversized knit cardigan on the clearance rack for $8! I recently just discovered why it was on clearance as my thumb went into a hole but it is okay. The hole is in the seam and totally fixable so it was so worth the $8. It is so soft and comfortable I wore it all day at work yesterday and never wanted to take it off! The color is so perfect to literally go over anything. I didn’t get a picture yet but you can check it out here: Layering Knit Top with Crochet in Beige – Knox Rose at Target.

If you haven’t done so, go check out the Knox Rose line at Target you really won’t regret it! I already have my eye on a couple of other items!

Talk to you soon!

All Grown Up

My dearest Tabitha,

How did this day finally come? It was seriously yesterday that I was waking up every day to take you to zero period cheer at 6:30 AM in high school, uh I am such a good sister. Then remember that one time we thought it was a great idea for you to apply to a college six hours away, and then had another idea that you should actually go because you got accepted? Aren’t we hilarious?! Well you went and it was so great for you, yet so awful at the same time because I missed you so much. BUT YOU CAME BACK! I was so excited that you were transferring to my college, even though by the time you got there I was graduating, but the fact was that we were reunited, and it did feel good! I had you back and we were now not just sisters by blood but also sorority sisters. You joining was obviously awesome, but you transferring to my chapter and them taking you in with open arms showed me what a great organization and sisterhood we are apart of.

You have come such a long way from high school, to Sacramento, to La Verne, to now receiving your diploma. The woman you have become never ceases to amaze me. I love your innocent bluntness, your sassy wit, and your bravery to do things on your own and to speak your mind. I am envious of you in the best possible way. I know through school you have followed close in my footsteps and I LOVE the fact that we did basically all of the same things. One of the most honorable things I have done in my life is be a role model for you. At this point in life though things are changing, you have grown into a person that I look up to. You will always be my little sister, but you are not little anymore. You are your own person and although you may not always feel like it, you give off a beautiful confidence. I admire everything about you, your beauty, your ability to make everyone laugh so hard, you intelligence, and your writing. It is one of my goals to be able to write as well as you.

I grow more proud of you everyday. Things seem to not go your way more often for you than for most other people, and aside from continuing on, you find humor in the bad and use it for your own inspiration. You may get down but you never stay there long. The thought of doing better and exceeding your own expectations fuels you. Once all of the pieces of your life settle, you will have one hell of a picture to show and the best, most tragic and self deprecating story of how you got there. I will always be your biggest fan, your greatest admirer, and your loudest cheerleader. We have a bond that is unlike any other I have seen between sisters. I am so thankful and blessed to have you in my life. I know this expression is well overused but I would honestly be lost without you. I would laugh far less, and probably speak far less. I really think that you are my twin and I am just older… by three and a half years.

Moving on from this point in your life you will do great things. You will be packing up everything you have learned in your life and applying it to real life endeavors. You will see the real world, you will struggle, and you will cry, but always remember that I am always right next to you no matter where you are. You are a part of my soul and I will never leave you. I love you so much and again am so proud of you. Hang this diploma proudly on your wall and go fill the world with your words. You will be known. Your greatness is not to be contained and kept, but to be spread wide so that others may experience the joy that I feel by knowing you everyday. Go amaze, for you are amazing.

I love you so.

The Best Color Combo

I know I have been obsessed with Old Navy recently but I can’t help it! I just find the best deals and and some of the cutest clothes, especially basics. On my last shopping trip there in March (after my month of no shopping), I found this navy striped loose peplum tank and it was on sale for $8! (I also bought it in black) I had been waiting for the perfect way to wear this, so I decided white pants were the best pairing. Of course I didn’t have any, so back to Old Navy I went! I wanted to add some color to the outfit and I LOVE wearing coral with navy so what would be better than a coral necklace to add some pop? I had just bought a coral necklace from Charming Charlie because it was a color I didn’t have yet, and it is a good one to have for summer. I was excited when I finally put this outfit on and paired it all together. I added my chunky tan heels because they basically go with everything and I love them. You cannot go wrong with navy, white, and coral.

I hope you all had a good Tuesday!

2 Year Blogaversary

Wow I cannot believe that it is already the 2nd anniversary of my blog! This past year has gone by SO fast and so much has happened. Obviously the biggest thing blog wise was the name change from Tragic Girls to the.B.Law. on January 1st. I have been so happy with the change and have really been focusing on writing about more topics, especially style, my love in life. But don’t worry, I am still tragic, I can’t help it.

I feel like I have improved this past year with posting and actually posting more. My first year I wrote 77 posts, this past second year I posted 97! (yes I sat down and counted) There is still room to improve and grow, I want to bring that number up this next year. I always say that I am going to start making schedules for posts, and I will be good about it for a week or two and then I slack. My goal is to really do better with that. I sat down last night and made a schedule for this week and it didn’t even take me very long so I want to now make that my Sunday homework. I love blogging on Sundays anyways so now that will be my day to plan as well. If anyone has any tips on how they schedule or plan out their blogs please share! I would love to hear how other bloggers do it.

I am excited for this year. I want to try some new things and have already started on a couple new projects. It is taking a bit longer than I expected but it is okay, it will be great once I get it done and I am excited to share!

Thank you for all of your support these last two years and I cant wait to see where we go from here!

I also just want to share some of my favorite blogs that I get inspiration from…

Glitter It Gold by Amanda Hellweg – Obviously because she is one of my best friends and also because she inspires me everday and I love how she posts with such confidence!

Simply Audree Kate by Audree Kate – Her blog is so amazing and filled with such great style! She inspires me to try new things and spice up my style!

Barefoot Blonde by Amber Fillerup Clark – I love seeing pictures of her family. They are so cute and she has such great style, beauty, and hair tips.

Talk to you all soon!

Pattern Mixing

I saw a picture on Instagram the other day of a striped tee with a floral skirt. I became obsessed and wanted to create my own version. I already have a striped tee so all I needed was the skirt, so I went to my go to, Old Navy! After wandering around for quite some time I found this navy print skirt on the clearance rack for $8.48! What a steal! As I said I already have a striped tee, but I don’t have a striped tank. I am seriously so obsessed with stripes right now… So I bought a tank. I found this one on sale for $6! It’s a double scoop so the neck and the back both scoop down. It’s really light and super comfy. As I was walking to the front I passed this open cardigan. It’s a good color and the shorter sleeves are great for the warmer weather. I had my two patterns so I figured a solid sweater layered on top would really tie the whole outfit together. For the finishing touches I added my pendant tassel necklace from Charming Charlie and my tan chunky heels from G Stage. They have to be the most comfortable heels I’ve ever worn.

Check it out and shop the look below:

Bikini Motivation

Last week I decided that starting this past Sunday, May 1st, I was going to get my butt in gear and start really working out and eating better. I decided this on Wednesday, so since I had until the 1st I decided I could eat whatever I wanted until then. Although I ate pretty bad, it had good consequences because it made me feel kind of bad but made me excited to start eating healthy. The 1st came around on Sunday and although I didn’t have time to work out because I was busy, I ate healthy and planned out my meals for the week. Yesterday I was ready to work out. I started the week off with a protein day and was pumped to work out when I got home.

On the way up to my apartment after work I got the mail and my new bikini was in from PINK! I was so excited that I tried it on before my run. Let me tell you, there is no better motivation to exercise that trying on a bikini when you are not bikini ready! Wow I was so sad that it didn’t look the way I wanted it to yet, but that feeling fueled me. I got dressed and went out for my cardio and did an ab workout when I got back.

Now it being day three of my attempted health plan, I am struggling a little. I made a nice healthy dinner of salmon and asparagus and went for a run before that. But then I did something bad… after dinner I ate a bowl of cereal. Like a big bowl! I don’t even know why! I wasn’t even hungry, something sweet just sounded good. So now I am here writing this and feeling guilty and like crap. I guess I can’t be too hard on myself, it is only day three and I actually have done cardio two days in a row. I will just have to keep looking at this picture of my new bikini to keep me motivated! Look how cute it is!

The top is amazing because it basically feels and has the look of a sports bra. It is lightly lined with NO underwire and has adjustable straps. Pretty much the perfect top for those of us who do not have much to work with up there. I also love that it is high-waisted but that the sides show skin. It is something I would not usually wear so I am excited to try something new. But with high-waisted bottoms you definitely need to be in shape, there are so many ways this can go wrong, especially with the criss-crossed sides! I cannot be popping out of each criss-cross! No mini muffins here, or as my sister put to perfectly “no looking like a can of biscuits”! I must stay focused and motivated! Please feel free to give me tips!

The Perfect Kimono

My bffff found a couple of sheer floral kimonos at a store we go in from time to time called Citiwear. It is actually a store I worked at for 6 years back in high school and college. She sent me a picture of the kimonos in navy and in white. They were so cute and perfect I wanted one too! Of course when I got to the store they didn’t have anymore. Figures. They only had black which I didn’t really want. I went to a second store which is basically the same thing and again, they only had black. Well, I wanted one and black was all they had, so that is what I got. Turns out I love it! I usually don’t  wear black that often so I always feel a little edgier when I do. This though feels so elegant and feminine. I feel so fancy when I put it on.

What is so great about this kimono is that it is sheer and light which makes it perfect for spring and summer. I love layering, it adds such dimension to an outfit but it gets harder to do when it gets hot. That won’t be as much of a problem with this kimono. The neutral colors also make it great to go with so much. The last awesome thing about it is that it was only $10.99!

Okay so shopping this look is a little hard. i couldn’t find the exact kimono online so linked is a similar one here. The romper is from Target last year but linked again is a similar one (which is SUPER cute!) here. Lastly the heels, which are my new favorite are linked here: Steve Madden CALLVIN.
