The Power of Lipstick

Lipstick has been a a big love of mine. I have collected quite a few, my weakness, Mac. When I say quite a few, I mean…

lipstick 1

That pile is even missing a few. I fell out of wearing it for awhile because of where I was working, we were only allowed to wear “natural” makeup. Now I’m getting back into them full swing! I don’t know about how other girls feel when they put on lipstick, but for me, I feel different. It is like my lipsticks have powers. I get a new sense of confidence when I am wearing a bright one. It’s an attention grabber. It really is true that when you look good, you feel good. Today I wore my favorite new bright pink Viva Glam Miley by Miley Cyrus.

If I were to ever have my own lipstick line, I would want them to have inspirational names for women like “You Go Girl”, “This Is Your Day”, and “You Got This”. They would give a little more confidence when you wear them and every time you reapply.

Here is to having confidence and pretty lips!

6 Weeks and Leaks

As I was talking about in my last post The Home Stretch, we are down to our last month and a half in our apartment. Six weeks left and what do we have? A leak! I was about to leave for work when I saw a puddle of something yellow in the corner of the kitchen by the pantry. It looked like an animal peed, gross! I had a quick thought that the stray cat the leasing office found, that I wanted to follow me home just for a second, actually did and peed in my kitchen. But then I realized how crazy that seemed and went back to logical thinking that it was a leak or something in the pantry spilled. Either way, I was running late to work so I threw napkins on top and left.

When I got home it was clearly a leak because the napkins were not dry. I called the leasing office and they were sending over Carlos. I felt bad. The office closes at six which I’m pretty sure is when Carlos was off. The poor guy didn’t leave my apartment until almost nine. He did a temporary fix then waited for the plumber who later decided he was coming the next morning. Did I mention his temporary fix included this giant hole in my shower?

When I take a shower I feel like giant bugs are going to come out! We also got this giant fan in our kitchen to dry the wall, which was not quiet. Great decoration for the kitchen, our food needed some fresh air.

Tragic when we move in, and tragic when we are close to moving out. What can I say, we really are Tragic Girls.

The Home Stretch

It’s crazy to think that it’s already April and that my roomie and I moved in almost a year ago. By this time last year we had already gone through all of the searching for an apartment tragicness and had our hearts set on ours. It really was tragic looking for an apartment. No one told me it could be so hard. Some places we pulled up to, then drove right away. It took us I think four different very long days of searching. But now it’s April and we have to be out of our apartment on May 31st. It’s insane to think about how fast time goes by. The end will be bittersweet. I will be so sad to leave her, but we will be starting new adventures. I’m excited for this next chapter of my life. I’ll be moving in with my boyfriend by the beach! How awesome that I’ll be living a half a mile from the beach! Aside from the excitement of the beach, it is also a huge step for my boyfriend and I.

Although the Tragic Girl Headquarters will no longer be together, it’s not over. I have plenty of more tragic events to come. As for headquarters, it’s moving to the beach so at least I’ll be a tan Tragic Girl! This next month and a half will be crazy, sad, and fun, and most likely fast. There are even a couple anniversaries coming up in May, mine and the boyfriend’s big one year, AND Tragic Girls’ one year anniversary! So A LOT of fun stuff coming up so be sure to be following and stay tuned!

Trying To Work Out

Why does wanting to be in shape have to take so much discipline? How nice would it be to just be like “yeah I’m going to start working out now,” and that’s it? No instead you have to actually make yourself work out and not give in to the many excuses we come up with, like the biggest one… I’ll do it tomorrow. This has been me. I keep saying it’s not even close to summer yet. Now look, it’s April, summer is around the corner and I am still not bikini ready. I had myself convinced to run today after work but then it rained, oops.

I will procrastinate no more! I will not be fat this summer! I started this whole eat healthy thing again for like the millionth time but I’m liking it. I made a pretty delicious salad if I do say so myself. But you just wait, because I’m getting myself a hot bod.

In the inspiring words from Laura Penny, “you’re fat as shit, you jiggle when you walk, we’re going on a diet.”

Thank you Laura. You really know how to motivate. Watch her video for you own motivation: Wait What: Keeping Your Diet

Watch Out, My Flats Are Pointy

I have always loved flats. I wear them a lot because although I love heels and have a bunch that I never wear, I am already tall as it is and I hate being even taller around all of my friends who are shorter than me. I know I shouldn’t care, but I prefer to wear heels when the other girls are going to wear them too. Anyways, like I said I love flats, but I never thought I would love pointed flats. I remember when they first started coming out and I was iffy about them. Yes they were cute but I didn’t know if I could pull them off. Now they are my favorite and I choose a pointed flat before I would choose a rounded one.

I have been good and staying away from Target lately. You do not understand, I have been like REALLY good, AND when my roomie and I went the other day to get milk and nail polish, I went straight in that direction and avoided the clothes and shoes. My roomie even noticed and said good job. Thank you, thank you. Well it just so happens that Target is having a “Buy one, get one half off” sale on ALL SHOES. I have even stayed away for two days since I have known. Today though, I decided to go, but I went with the intention of buying new flats. All of the flats that I have I need to toss since they are old and starting to look and feel old. I have also had my eye on a pair of pointed, snake skin flats for awhile. Somehow there was a pair left in my size.

Since the sale was BOGO half off of course I had to get a second pair. I was so tempted to get the heels I have been wanting and have already bought once… but I returned them out of buyers remorse. They even had one last pair in my size! So guess what I did? I did not get them! Please be proud and hold your applause. I decided to be practical. Since I needed new flats and I can wear them for work, I decided to get a second pair of pointed flats. These ones black and camel tan. I am actually quite happy with my purchase and cannot wait to wear my new flats and see how I can style them up! I am also happy for the fact that my excuse to buy them was for work, which is totally justifiable.

Raising Boyfriends

I was talking to one of the ladies I work with this week about hanging out with our girlfriends and what we were going to be doing over the weekend. She said that it is hard for her to get with her group of girlfriends often because they are all married and have their own things going on. She is about twenty years older than me so I know that we are in total different times of our lives, but this got me thinking about my group of girls. We all have such a good relationship right now. Whenever we get together we have so much fun and we are in a group message together all day, every day. Out of the five of us there are two boyfriends and two husbands (my Roomie is still on her man hunt). What is so perfect about our group is that all of our guys get along. Usually when we all get together, us girls and the guys, the guys go off on their own and us girls do our thing.

This whole thought about our guys getting along was making me think about dogs and cats. They do not get along, but when you raise a kitten and a puppy together, they do not know they are supposed to hate each other because they grew up together. I feel like since we introduced our guys to each other at the young points of our relationships, that they are kittens and puppies right now. Before this past August we were all boyfriend and girlfriend, or I guess you could say finances as well, but no one was married. I consider the marriage part of relationships to be the adult part. So since we all knew each other and were hanging out in our kitten and puppy stages, I think that our group will just continue to grow together as all of our relationships grow and get older.

Right now two out of the five of us are married, another two are in serious relationships, and the last is still searching, but she hasn’t lost hope. She told us how happy she is that she has four great examples of what a healthy relationship is, and now knows what she wants in a man. One important quality is that he gets along with the rest of the guys. Looking at our group, I do not think we will have an issue once all of us are married. I think that since we have “raised” our boys together since they were “kittens and puppies” that we will be just fine. There is not going to be any of that her husband doesn’t like so and so’s husband so we cannot invite them. We all just get along and it is easy.

So one day, twenty years from now, when I am in the time of my life that my co worker is now, I hope that our group is still the same, and that we get together as often as we do. I hope that the guys will actually refer to each other as friends and not think of each other as their wife’s friend’s husband. I hope that all of our future kids will be close like us and get along like they are actually cousins. Time will only tell, but thinking about the time of our lives that we are in right now excites me. Big things are starting to happen to us all. Two of us are married, two of us in the next few years will be next, my roomie will be following close behind, and once we have all experienced all of each others weddings together, we will start sharing a new time of our lives consisting of babies and a whole lot of firsts. Not only will we be sharing clothes with each other, we will be handing down baby clothes and advice. Our puppies and kittens will have grown up into men, fathers, and friends who have backyard barbecues, watching the kids run around, while us girls sit together talking about everything and everyone, as usual. That sounds like a pretty perfect future.

Hello Spring

Good morning and hello Spring! Yes today is the first day of Spring and I couldn’t be more excited. Well I could if it was Fall. Fall and Spring are my two favorite seasons. Why? For the fashion of course! Fall is when it starts to cool off, but not freezing, and you get to wear sweaters and tights. Spring is when it starts to get warmer, but not too warm, and we get to break out the shorts, tanks, and sun dresses. There are always the typical Spring trends like florals and brighter colors, but there are so many ways to style these. There is so much pattern mixing right now and I am ready to embrace it. I cannot wait to see what I can make out of what I already have in my closet.

In honor of the first day of Spring I had to do bright nails! This is one of my favorite Spring and even Summer colors “tart deco” by essie. This coral color is so fun and stands out, and not to mention makes your hands look tan. Of course I had to top it off with my essie “all in one” top coat. I have a serious nail polish obsession so more Spring colors will be coming and I am so excited!

A Tragic Short- Dad’s Life Lessons #1

In honor of my Dad’s birthday today, I want to share one of his life lessons he shared with my sisters and I this past Sunday. He was talking about my niece to my older sister and about when we all have kids and when they want pets.

This is what he told us: “Girls just always remember, anything that lives, poops.”

Thanks Dad. We will be sure to remember that.

St. Patrick’s Day

With today being St. Patrick’s day, of course I had to wear green. I don’t have any of the typical St. Patrick’s Day green so I stuck with olive green, which I think is much better anyways. To keep with the office vibe I paired my olive green pants, cuffed once at the bottom to make them ankle length, with a black peplum tank, a baggy open sweater that is black with pink flowers and green leaves, and lastly a pair of grey pointy flats. To add a little more flash to this outfit I put on the new peach earring that I got from Hello Fab. These helped to tie the whole outfit together and make it more fun and dressy.

PS- Don’t judge my wannabe photoshoot.

A Tragic Short- Keep Your Heels On

Rule number one: YOU DO NOT TAKE YOUR HEELS OFF! Classy girls keep their heels on. Just like when T and I walked 0.6 miles in Pasadena in our heels like I talked about in the last post. We were at K’s wedding this past Saturday and it was dancing time.

2015/01/img_3548.jpg
We were all a tad intoxicated. Side note: I highly suggest to NOT mix tequila, vodka, wine, and champagne all in the same night. I was not feeling too hot yesterday. But that is neither here nor there, this tragic short is about A. A is probably one of the classiest girls we all know, yet she is the one who takes her heels off. She took her heels off at her bachelorette party and walked the streets of down town Palm Springs barefoot. Saturday she took her heels off and went back on the dance floor. Mind you she only does this when she is drunk, yet she still shines with class. Here is to A!
