PINspired #2

Another Pinterest inspired outfit! I know this is more of a fall outfit, I even pinned it in the fall, but it being cloudy and cool today I thought why not? It is cute and warm without having to wear a jacket. When I first bought these cropped pants I wore them once then almost regretted buying them. I thought with the color they are, an almost rusty-brown, it was going to be hard to wear them. So I didn’t wear them for a while, but then I started I get ideas, obviously from Pinterest, and now I wear them a lot! They are pretty practical for work because they are not jeans, but they are not slacks either, so you stay comfy while also feeling a little casual. Just another way to recycle your closet!

One of the reasons I had been looking forward to the wedding I attended on Saturday was because I was so excited about the outfit I was going to wear! I picked this out like over a month ago, ever since I saw a picture on Pinterest. The color combination was so cute that I was determined to recreate it. I love recreating outfits from Pinterest, it makes me feel so accomplished, and it is fun to make it your own way too. The dress in the picture was more of a coral, I however found a more hot pink shift dress, and get this, it was only $20 from one of my go to stores G Stage. To find the mint/tealish accessories I went straight to my go to accessory store, Charming Charlie. I am obsessed with this store and really should not be allowed to go in by myself. I had no worries about finding the right color I needed for my necklace and clutch, this store is accessory heaven! I even found more than one option and almost couldn’t decide. I ended up with the perfect match though and at a good price, the necklace was $12 (I believe or around there), and the clutch was $25! Of course I had a coupon too- hooray for smart shopping! As for my heels, I stuck with the best pair of heels I have ever owned. I was in one of my best friend’s weddings (you may know her from Glitter It Gold) in August and we got the best heels! They are beige heels by Levity from DSW and has been the best money I have ever spent on shoes, and they were only $50 or $60! I wore them in her wedding, to our next friend’s wedding, to the bridal shower for the wedding this past Saturday, AND to the wedding as well. They are just so comfortable and match with so much!

Anyways, I was super excited about how my outfit came out so enjoy!

Sunday Banquet

My little sister called me yesterday and asked if my roomie and I would be her parents for the end of the year sorority banquet for Sigma Kappa. My roomie and I are alum so of course we said yes! It also gave us another excuse to dress up, which we always love. The dress code was “brunch attire” so we both picked something that’s dressy yet casual, and of course added heels! Loose dresses have kind of been our thing lately, but you have to know how to wear them. Not all loose dresses look good, the wrong one can look boxy, which is not flattering. The right one though, paired with the right heels and accessories, will not only look effortlessly put together, but also be really comfortable.

These were our Sunday styles:

Tragic Shopping

My friend introduced me to a site called 6pm.com and it is currently getting me into trouble. This site has the best deals on designer shoes and tons of other items. I said I am in trouble because I have already bought two pairs of heels. How could I resist though when they have tons of shoes by one of my main men Steve Madden?

I am absolutely in love with these two pairs. I haven’t had a chance to wear them yet but I have the perfect outfits in mind. Don’t worry, I’ll post them when they are debuted. The even more amazing part about these heels is the price. The black were only $44.99 while the tan were $35.99. What steals!

I am especially excited about these black ones. They are the perfect heel to dress casually or more dressed up. The heel is only 4 inches which is perfect for me since I am so tall.

As for the tan, I have been wanting ones like this since I have seen them on Pinterest paired with skinny jeans. I am so excited!

Check out 6pm.com! Happy shoe shopping!

Watch Out, My Flats Are Pointy

I have always loved flats. I wear them a lot because although I love heels and have a bunch that I never wear, I am already tall as it is and I hate being even taller around all of my friends who are shorter than me. I know I shouldn’t care, but I prefer to wear heels when the other girls are going to wear them too. Anyways, like I said I love flats, but I never thought I would love pointed flats. I remember when they first started coming out and I was iffy about them. Yes they were cute but I didn’t know if I could pull them off. Now they are my favorite and I choose a pointed flat before I would choose a rounded one.

I have been good and staying away from Target lately. You do not understand, I have been like REALLY good, AND when my roomie and I went the other day to get milk and nail polish, I went straight in that direction and avoided the clothes and shoes. My roomie even noticed and said good job. Thank you, thank you. Well it just so happens that Target is having a “Buy one, get one half off” sale on ALL SHOES. I have even stayed away for two days since I have known. Today though, I decided to go, but I went with the intention of buying new flats. All of the flats that I have I need to toss since they are old and starting to look and feel old. I have also had my eye on a pair of pointed, snake skin flats for awhile. Somehow there was a pair left in my size.

Since the sale was BOGO half off of course I had to get a second pair. I was so tempted to get the heels I have been wanting and have already bought once… but I returned them out of buyers remorse. They even had one last pair in my size! So guess what I did? I did not get them! Please be proud and hold your applause. I decided to be practical. Since I needed new flats and I can wear them for work, I decided to get a second pair of pointed flats. These ones black and camel tan. I am actually quite happy with my purchase and cannot wait to wear my new flats and see how I can style them up! I am also happy for the fact that my excuse to buy them was for work, which is totally justifiable.

Hello Spring

Good morning and hello Spring! Yes today is the first day of Spring and I couldn’t be more excited. Well I could if it was Fall. Fall and Spring are my two favorite seasons. Why? For the fashion of course! Fall is when it starts to cool off, but not freezing, and you get to wear sweaters and tights. Spring is when it starts to get warmer, but not too warm, and we get to break out the shorts, tanks, and sun dresses. There are always the typical Spring trends like florals and brighter colors, but there are so many ways to style these. There is so much pattern mixing right now and I am ready to embrace it. I cannot wait to see what I can make out of what I already have in my closet.

In honor of the first day of Spring I had to do bright nails! This is one of my favorite Spring and even Summer colors “tart deco” by essie. This coral color is so fun and stands out, and not to mention makes your hands look tan. Of course I had to top it off with my essie “all in one” top coat. I have a serious nail polish obsession so more Spring colors will be coming and I am so excited!

St. Patrick’s Day

With today being St. Patrick’s day, of course I had to wear green. I don’t have any of the typical St. Patrick’s Day green so I stuck with olive green, which I think is much better anyways. To keep with the office vibe I paired my olive green pants, cuffed once at the bottom to make them ankle length, with a black peplum tank, a baggy open sweater that is black with pink flowers and green leaves, and lastly a pair of grey pointy flats. To add a little more flash to this outfit I put on the new peach earring that I got from Hello Fab. These helped to tie the whole outfit together and make it more fun and dressy.

PS- Don’t judge my wannabe photoshoot.

essie “all in one” update

Last week I posted about my new essie nail polishes “turquoise & caicos” and the “all in one” base and clear coat in Hint of Mint. In that post I told you I would give an update about how the “all in one” works. For those of you who didn’t read it, the “all in one” is a base coat, a clear coat, and a nail strengthener, and it works great! My nails are usually super short because I break them all the time, but I have been wanting to grow them just a tiny bit longer and keep them that way. I have only applied this “all in one” twice and I feel like my nails already feel a little stronger. I haven’t broken one yet! Well, I broke one but that was because I cut a corner in the office too tight and hit my hand on the wall, typical. Anyways, not only did the “all in one” work on making my nails stronger, it also is an amazing top coat. My mint nails did not get any chips for four days! I know that does not seem like a long time to some of you, but for not being a gel manicure, four days is pretty awesome. Usually when I paint my nails myself I have at least one chip by the end of the first day. I totally recommend this polish!

Baya is for Balayage

I have never been able to keep a hair color for very long. This may be because my sister is an amazing hair dresser and not only does my hair, but all of my family and literally all of my friends’ hair. I have been a brunette, a blonde, then brunette again, then several different shades of red, to a copper red ombré, and now to the new… a balayage, or what my girls and I call it, a baya. The balayage style is getting pretty popular and I was the first one my sister had tried it on. It was such a success that now all of my friends are getting it. The difference between a balayage and an ombré is more the technique. The way it is done creates a softer look with more blended lines.

What I love about this style is that it is helping me slowly go lighter towards the summer. It is a subtle change and she adds more blonde to it every other time I come in, so about every three months. A toner is applied each time to blend it all, but even when that starts to fade after quite a few washes the color still looks amazing. The fading toner reveals more lightened pieces which helps with the gradual process of going lighter. This way I don’t come out of the salon and it’s like whoa your hair is light!

I have gotten so many compliments on my hair with a balayage. My hair has so much definition now that it looks amazing when it is down and curled. The curls reveal every different shade in my hair. Today was a bleach day and we went a little lighter. Perfect to welcome in Spring next week!

Hello Fab Accessories

I am LOVING my accessories I got from Hello Fab in the mail today! They are perfect to add a splash of color to a Spring outfit. The necklace is not too loud, which is great because you can add it to most outfits even if it doesn’t quite match all the way. Its subtle shape will make it look like it blends perfectly with any top. It is amazing how much of a difference a statement necklace, even one smaller like this one, can completely change an outfit.

HelloFab

The earrings are also great, not only in a dressy outfit, but with a plain tee, a pair of denim shorts or pants, sandals, and a messy bun. They are such a good way to add a little something to a completely comfy outfit. It is a hidden way to look like you put more effort into your outfit than you did. Those are some of the best outfits, ones consisting effortless style.

I can’t wait to get more from Hello Fab! Be sure to check them out!
