Pattern Mixing

I saw a picture on Instagram the other day of a striped tee with a floral skirt. I became obsessed and wanted to create my own version. I already have a striped tee so all I needed was the skirt, so I went to my go to, Old Navy! After wandering around for quite some time I found this navy print skirt on the clearance rack for $8.48! What a steal! As I said I already have a striped tee, but I don’t have a striped tank. I am seriously so obsessed with stripes right now… So I bought a tank. I found this one on sale for $6! It’s a double scoop so the neck and the back both scoop down. It’s really light and super comfy. As I was walking to the front I passed this open cardigan. It’s a good color and the shorter sleeves are great for the warmer weather. I had my two patterns so I figured a solid sweater layered on top would really tie the whole outfit together. For the finishing touches I added my pendant tassel necklace from Charming Charlie and my tan chunky heels from G Stage. They have to be the most comfortable heels I’ve ever worn.

The Perfect Kimono

My bffff found a couple of sheer floral kimonos at a store we go in from time to time called Citiwear. It is actually a store I worked at for 6 years back in high school and college. She sent me a picture of the kimonos in navy and in white. They were so cute and perfect I wanted one too! Of course when I got to the store they didn’t have anymore. Figures. They only had black which I didn’t really want. I went to a second store which is basically the same thing and again, they only had black. Well, I wanted one and black was all they had, so that is what I got. Turns out I love it! I usually don’t  wear black that often so I always feel a little edgier when I do. This though feels so elegant and feminine. I feel so fancy when I put it on.

What is so great about this kimono is that it is sheer and light which makes it perfect for spring and summer. I love layering, it adds such dimension to an outfit but it gets harder to do when it gets hot. That won’t be as much of a problem with this kimono. The neutral colors also make it great to go with so much. The last awesome thing about it is that it was only $10.99!

Okay so shopping this look is a little hard. i couldn’t find the exact kimono online so linked is a similar one here. The romper is from Target last year but linked again is a similar one (which is SUPER cute!) here. Lastly the heels, which are my new favorite are linked here: Steve Madden CALLVIN.

Boyfriends

I have been really obsessed with boyfriend jeans lately and also boyfriend shorts. My boyfriend asked me why they are called that and I said, “because it is supposed to be like I am wearing my boyfriend’s jeans.” He looked at me and said with a straight face, “I would never wear those.” Whatever, he doesn’t know anything! I just love how comfortable they are. They are also good for those days that you aren’t feeling too good about yourself and you do not want to wear anything tight.

The last time I was at Old Navy I came across a boyfriend shirt. I was excited because it was a really cute button up with a subtle pattern. I had a coupon so I decided to try it out. It turns out I really liked it! The first time I wore it was with skinny jeans, booties, and a statement necklace. This time I tried it more casual with boyfriend shorts, sandals, and open with a lace bralette instead of a necklace. This will be quite a versatile top, I have already worn it with three different outfits. I am excited to see what else I get out of it, especially since it is thin and light enough to wear on warmer days.

Fringe on Fringe!

So as we all know fringe is pretty popular right now. These taupe fringe Steve Madden booties are my absolute favorite. I surprised myself with how much I have worn them since I bought them in November. I love how the fringe just adds a little extra to outfits. Last month I was browsing Old Navy online (like I shouldn’t have been) and came across a loose tee with fringe trim going across it in three rows. They had a gray with cream fringe and a cream with cream fringe, that is the one I wanted the “Creme de la Creme”. I went into Old Navy and looked every where for this top and I couldn’t find it! So I did what I hated when I worked in retail, I showed an associate the picture and asked if they had anymore! Ugh I know so shameful, but the girl said she knew where it was! Even better, it was on clearance for $7.49!! It was so meant to be. So of course I bought it. It is perfect for a casual and effortless outfit that is still super cute. Hope you like it! Go fringe!

Wild!

I know I always say that Fall is my favorite season but Spring is my second favorite and there are SO MANY cute new clothes coming out! In my last post Spring Dress! I talked about a few things that I had found at the Old Navy Spring Sale (seriously go check it out). Well today I found a top to go with the shorts that I got last week. These cuffed linen shorts in “BLUSHIN UP” are totally cute and were on sale for $15! Not only are they super casual, but you can dress them up with wedges and still feel like you are in PJ shorts! I mean what is better than wearing lounge wear all day?! The tank I just happened to pass by and thought it was cute. It was also $15 normal price. I love dressing up graphic tees/tanks with statement necklaces to get a dressy casual look in that way that says “I always dress cute even when I am not trying” kind of way (life goal). Check it out:

Style, Wear Again Wednesday

Wear Again Wednesday #2

On Wednesdays we wear an outfit again… (I really hope you understood that reference)

Anyways… It’s Wear Again Wednesday where I take a previously worn outfit and change it up a bit. For those of you who know me I rarely wear the exact same outfit more than once unless it’s one I REALLY love. But I’ve been trying to recycle my outfits instead of shopping and it’s working however, it does take some work. It can be so hard to just stare at your closet and see all the same clothes all the time. Imagination is needed to create new outfits! I saw the sleeve of one of my chambray tops sticking out of my overstuffed closet and saw the bottom of my red striped t-shirt dress and this outfit instantly came to me. I bought this dress and necklace last year for the Fourth of July. It’s a combination that is pretty noticeable when worn again so I changed the shoes and added the chambray top and left it open like a cardigan. Although very similar to the original version, I liked it better today!

Today’s version-

If any of you share my feelings about repeating outfits try this out! It is almost like a challenge to myself to reinvent something I have already worn!

As for shopping this look I can tell you where everything is from, but it is all older so I can’t link the exact items: dress- Target / chambray top- Forever 21 / statement necklace- Charming Charlie / sandal wedges- Madden Girl by Steve Madden

Happy Wednesday!

Spring Dress!

My bfffff and I did another month with no shopping and it ended last week. Obviously the day it ended I was dying to buy something. I had an email that Old Navy was having a Spring sale so I decided to go there after work, I always have good luck at Old Navy. Well hello sale! I went a tad overboard and got 3 tops, a dress, and a pair of boyfriend jeans, all on sale! The tops were $8 each and I do not remember how much the dress and the jeans were but they were both 40% off. I love finding great deals! So far I have only worn the boyfriend jeans which stretched out so much while I was wearing them that I had to wash them right away and put them in the dryer (hopefully that helped) and the dress, which I have worn twice…in three days, don’t judge. It is just so cute! It is blush pink, loose, flow, pleated, and the perfect length. I wore it on Easter with my taupe fringe booties and a gold statement necklace.

Then I wore it yesterday with a long open knit cardigan, a gray scarf, gray knee socks, and tan boots.

See! It is totally versatile! I already have another idea of how to wear it next time. Totally a good investment. You will see the rest of the pieces later, I still need a couple things for the outfits I am planning.

You can shop the dress here!

Well, have a great Friday tomorrow!

Best. Deal. Ever.

Browsing Instagram the other night I noticed one of the bloggers I follow had on super cute heels. Going to her blog to research them I found that they were Steve Madden. Perfect! Steve Madden is my favorite. I looked on Macy’s and found them right away. Oh, what do you know, Macy’s was (and still is until after today) having their VIP 25% off sale. The heels, which are the CARRSON, are $99 so with the VIP that’s about $25 off right there. I also remembered I still had $68 in rewards from Macy’s thanks for sharing program on a gift card. Deducted that. At check out it asked if I wanted to use my $9.60 in Plenti points, SURE! Oh let’s see, pick up in store to save $10 on shipping. What’s my total now… $2.06!!!!! I got $99 heels for $2.06! The best deal I could probably have ever gotten. Please see how cute and worth it they are!

I can’t wait to wear them!

My Favorite Things #2

I do not know why it took me so long to do another my favorite things but here is my second one finally. I will try to be better about this so I already have my next one planned! This set of favorite things is kind of an upgrade from my last one. If you missed it or can’t remember you can refresh your memory or catch up here. In my last favorite things post I shared my then new favorite mascara. Well I have a new favorite and this one will be hard to top, Benefit Roller Lash Super Curling & Lifting Mascara. I got the sample size for free from Ulta for my birthday gift and let me tell you, this stuff is so amazing. The way the brush is made it grabs your lashes and curls them as you pull up. The first time I used it I was so amazed, it looked like I used an eyelash curler! (Writing blooper, as I was writing eyelash curler I wrote curling iron first- ouch that would hurt haha) Usually when I put mascara on I put a minimum of two coats on but most times three, and by coats I mean dipping the brush back in the bottle and applying another layer. After my first coat of the Roller Lash Mascara I was done. They looked perfect! I was going out though so I added another coat for good measure. But today, I wore it to work and only put on one coat and it looked like I had on my 2-3 layers of mascara. I can’t stop obsessing over it and I can’t wait to buy the full size tube. I HIGHLY recommend this mascara! Again I apologize for not having before and after pictures but I just can’t take them, I feel like I look so ridiculous, I need someone else to take them for me.

Shop Benefit’s Roller Lash Super Curling & Lifting Mascara here at Ulta!

My other favorite right now is Benefit Fake-Up Hydrating Concealer. This is a crease control concealer that goes on under your eyes and is surrounded by a layer of moisture with vitamin E and apple seed extract. It goes on so light weight it is almost as if you’re not wearing anything and it stays on all day! I feel like I look so much more awake when I have this on even though I am so tired. Fake-Up Wake-Up! This is another product I highly recommend to try out! I actually found this from another blogger so I am passing it on again!

Who – What – Wear – PINK!

Remember my second to last post Red, White, and Plaid! when I talked about loving the ankle slacks from Target? Welllll I got another pair… But I had to! They’re PINK! They don’t sell this color in the store so I had to order them. They came in Friday so OF COURSE I had to wear them to work today! I am also in love with this new striped tank I got to go with them. It’s also from Target but from the WhoWhatWear line. It’s the perfect shape and is a light chiffon material but not so see through where you have to worry about wearing something underneath. I paired this combo with a black statement necklace from Charming Charlie and my peep toe booties from G Stage. It is my new favorite outfit right now!
