Midi Skirt!

I’ve worn a variation of this outfit once before, but it was geared more for summer. With fall literally around the corner, as in tomorrow (I cannot even contain my excitement) I paired this beautiful skirt with a long sleeve chambray top instead of the sleeveless. I just love it and apparently everyone else did too because I got a lot of compliments. These skirts are so easy yet look so dressed up (I say “these” because yes I have a second one). I found them on BooHoo and they have a lot of different styles, plus it was really inexpensive. I love simple outfits that look really put together. The other good thing about this skirt is all the options you can wear with it because it has so many colors in the print. Perfect for all seasons!

Pop of Color

How cute is this midi skirt?! I wasn’t sure if it was too circus tent-y, but I couldn’t get it out of my head from the moment I saw it. I decided it was too fun not to buy. I wore it to work but it would also be great for dress up events like brunch, a bridal shower, or a birthday party.

I paired it with my sleeveless chambray top and my rose gold heels, you know for a little pop, because a bright yellow skirt needs more pop…

I got so many compliments on this outfit from the minute I walked in the door at work! I just loved it! Probably one of the best parts about it is how inexpensive the skirt is. I got it half off on BooHoo.com. I’m excited to see what other looks I can make with it. Check it out!

Month Long Challenge, Style, the.B.Law

Bell Sleeves and Embroidery

Yesterday my old roomie/best friend/sorority sister/and the.B.Law style panelist Heather and I started a month long challenge. In this challenge we are on wallet lockdown. There will be no purchasing of unnecessary items ESPECIALLY clothing. We also have to wear a different outfit everyday with no repeats, creating new looks with the clothes we already have in our closets. Now to be honest, 30 days of new outfits doesn’t fully intimidate me. I am not one for outfit repeating and I know Heather isn’t either. There are days though where I wake up late and just go for something safe, that I know works. This challenge is starting off at a month to make me be creative everyday and could very well continue to an additional month. We will see!

Anyways, today is day 2 and here is my look! I saw this embroidered, button up, striped, bell sleeve top and thought it was weird yet I was strangely fascinated by it. I literally walked back up to it in Target two more times after I first saw it. I remembered a skirt from BooHoo I wanted and thought it might be the perfect pair for this top. I left and didn’t buy it. I had to see if I would still think about it after I left (that is how I really know I want something). I looked up the skirt again on BooHoo and was sold. I ordered the skirt and went to Target the next day to get the shirt. Well the skirt came in and was entirely too small so I had to make an online return, which honestly I have always been terrified to make for some odd reason but it turned out to be so easy that I felt silly. FINALLY I got the new skirt it and it fit! Note about the skirt, it does not stretch so although it may fit around your waist your leg spread really isn’t all that wide. Not that you should really need it to be but its not, and I walk fast and I don’t feel like my legs have the proper speed potential. That sounds totally ridiculous and can totally go off in a bad direction so moving on… The color of the skirt isn’t quite the same pink as in the embroidery but I really like it together. Pink Pants for the Win!

When I bought these pink, belted, high waist pants by Topshop at Nordstrom, I only had one combination in mind at the time. Now I am on my 4th style with them! Although all in the same black and white color scheme, the looks were all mostly different. First I paired a white, high neck chiffon blouse with tan heels, then a black tank with black heels, then a black and white striped tank with a black blazer and black heels, and now a black and dark-cream(ish) nice tee (that is kind of a weird description but you will get it when you see it below) and black heels. My only concern when I bought these pants was finding something to pair with them besides my first white blouse. Now I already have a 5th and 6th idea, next up a gray top but I still haven’t found the right one. What I really want to find is a colorful print top that goes well with the color. Any suggestions please let me know!

Feeling Sashy

Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a great weekend. I did nothing and it was great. Definitely got some much needed sleep. Can you believe it is already July 10th? This year has gone so fast and I feel like I can’t catch up. Pinterest is already suggesting fall outfits. Don’t get me wrong, I have said countless times that fall is my favorite season, but part of the love is the anticipation. Me, patiently waiting for the first day that I see leaves on the ground and the first day I get to wear a sweater and boots. This year though it feels like I may blink and it will be here.

Anyways, sorry about my tangent. Today’s look has been a long time coming. I bought this top a while ago from Target and had this great idea to pair it with high waist black pants. It took some time to find a pair I liked. Well honestly not too long, I found some with a sash tie waist at Express but kept waiting for a sale and it never happened. I was browsing Boohoo recently and saw some that were similar and would do, AND they were only $20.

The two pieces paired together perfectly! The top is great because although it is sleeveless it is still work appropriate which helps with this heat lately! Check it out and find the items linked below:

Color Blocked!

Will you please check out this color blocked, pleated midi skirt I found from WhoWhatWear at Target?! It instantly caught my eye. I saw it and picked it up, then put it back. They I came by it again and touched it, but left it again. Then a THIRD time I picked it up and held it up to myself in the mirror. Okay, okay, SOLD! I had to get it, which surprised myself that I liked it so much. I am not normally drawn to reds but I loved this. There are even red slacks I have my eye on. I think I just love how bright it is, the skirt is such a statement piece. The skirt IS the outfit which is why I paired an off with top with it. The top needs to be simple with this skirt, otherwise I would look like a walking fiesta!

Cute Little Collar

I found this darling little tee on sale at Macy’s from Maison Jules and I had to have it! I love the scalloped detail and the Peter Pan collar. When I was looking at it at first I wasn’t quite sure what to pair it with, but remembered I had an off white subtlety patterned skirt, also from Maison Jules. Putting the two together worked out great and makes a good work outfit. I wore the combo with tan heels for work, but they can also be changed out for tan or brown sandals to wear casually. I feel slightly like a little girl in this outfit but I still love it, and it’s great for spring!

So Macy’s still has this top buuut only in like 2 sizes. I’ll link it here anyways just in case! If you like it check out all of Maison Jules, I loooove their stuff!

Ruffle Trend

I am absolutely loving how big ruffles are right now. They are just so cute and girly. I feel like ruffles make you look more dressed up than you are, which can be really fun. I got this light pink ruffle top from the Who What Wear line at Target and it is so cute (see I told you I was really into pink tops right now). The ruffle detail adds enough flair to be able to just wear the top with slacks for work, you don’t need to add anything else to look put together. Simple outfits are great to have, especially on those mornings when you’re running late and need to grab something quick to wear. I paired this top with black slacks and leopard pumps (just for fun) and it was so easy and comfy for work. I also want to try it with white slacks and tan heels next. Wouldn’t that be cute?! (It would work with jeans to for casual Friday or the weekend too!) You can find the top here!

Happy Monday!

Loose Peplum

I remember when I first got into peplum tops. It was probably about three years ago when I still worked in retail, I bought two different tops. Most of the peplum tops that came out were similar, usually fitted and on the shorter side, they came right to the top of your pants. Those aren’t my style anymore and I haven’t seen much of them around either. There is a new style I am getting behind though, loose and long peplum tops. My bfffff got me this light blush top for my birthday from Target. The peplum detail of this top is so subtle I almost didn’t realize it was that style at all. I love the fact that it is loose and flows, and is also long and covers up the top of your pants.

For work I wore this top with a pair of black slacks and heels, keeping it simple, but to add a little more I topped it with one of my favorite blazers. It is heather gray, oversized (boyfriend blazer), and stands out. It all went well together and was comfy. This top is also great with jeans and can be worn casually, the buttons and the pockets on the front help make it not too dressy. Lastly I LOVE the color. I am having a serious obsession with blush right now. Pink is one of my favorite colors but for some reason I never really had a lot of pink clothes, but lately I have noticed a growing section of blush in my closet. The majority of my recent additions have been blush so stay tuned for a few more!

High Waist, High Neck!

Dressing up for the office is fun, but it’s really easy to be lazy and pick out something quick and boring. I’ve fallen into this bland funk numerous times where instead of picking my outfit the night before like I should, I rush in the morning, running late per usual (note: I’m always rushing and running late but I am never late), and I just grab black slacks, black pumps, a plain top, and sometimes add a blazer. I apologize if this is your usual outfit and I’ve offended you, but this does not cut it for me. I have a standard and on these days when I don’t make it I notice it in my attitude. I’ve mentioned before how when you look good, you feel good. A great outfit gives you confidence. When I just grab something quick with little thought the day just feels drab. I don’t want to blend in with others in the office, I want to stand out. Honestly it’s going to happen though, some days you just have to be boring, but then some days you come across an outfit like this one. What says the opposite of boring more than pink high waisted pants?

When I first saw them I wasn’t too sure how they would look on, but I tried them anyways and they are perfect! They are by Topshop from Nordstrom. It was kind of funny finding them because I had just seen an outfit on Instagram I wanted to recreate and it had similar style pants.

Next I knew I needed a white, high neck blouse but it took a little longer to find the right one. I finally checked my go to work brand from Macy’s, Maison Jules, and found the perfect one on sale. Unfortunately the tan Steve Madden pumps I ordered for myself for my birthday were actually sold out and I got the most depressing email delivering the bad news. I had to wear my other nude sandal heels from Steve Madden which worked well, but I’m still not over the loss.

Overall this outfit not only was amazing but a total confidence booster, it was just so cute! A guy even complimented my pants (excuse the hurricane wind from me flipping my hair).

Moral of the story, put time into your outfits!
