Purple Ruffles

It has FINALLY been cool enough to wear long sleeves! I have been waiting for this for so long, ESPECIALLY since I have like four new long sleeves that haven’t been worn yet. I love the details on this purple one I got by Lush at Nordstrom (on sale!). Actually the color is called “peppercorn”. I am such a sucker for ruffles right now and this one has double the ruffles, shoulders and the bottom of the sleeves. The elastic around the wrists is so cute and dainty. I paired it with my high waist cigarette trousers by Topshop at Nordstrom and my black Landen heels by Steve Madden. I am indecisive though on what looks best: untucked, easy tucked, or fully tucked? Check it out below and let me know what you think! All of the pieces are linked below too!

Nordstrom Rewards Style Tips & Sips

Last night I attended the Nordstrom Rewards Style Tips & Sips at the Nordstrom in the Brea Mall. I wanted to go to this particular night because its focus was “Office Hours to Happy Hour”, so taking your look from work to going out after. I wasn’t sure what to expect and to be honest I was close to not even going because I hate going places alone (I know, lame). But I went anyways! I was wondering around in front of the cafe where it was supposed to be held, apparently looking slightly lost, until I saw this girl dressed SO cute who walked up and found me. Her name was Taylor and she was running the Style Tips & Sips, I was saved! She sent me to the new location of where it was being held, in the dressing room area at Collections, while she rounded up the other 8 girls who had RSVP’d.

When I got to the right place I met Lizia who was the beauty expert and let me tell you, she had on such beautiful makeup, I just kept looking at her eyeshadow! When Taylor came back she brought no one with her so I got a PRIVATE SESSION! It was so awesome, these two girls were so nice, we chit-chatted the whole time. I felt like the pieces Taylor chose were picked just for me, I could have worn every single style they were all so cute. There are actually a couple pieces I will probably buy, like the CUTEST leopard top (but I can’t remember the brand! I am searching). I love how so many pieces are now so detailed on their own. For example ruffles on hems, sleeves, or across the front, or bell sleeves, or even embroidery. It makes it so much easier to have a unique put together outfit because it doesn’t take much. That is how most of these looks were that Taylor picked out.

After Taylor finished, Lizia started with the beauty. I am officially obsessed with Charlotte Tilbury’s makeup. Lizia showed me one of her small eyeshadow palettes and I want it, like right now (linked here). It comes with four shades and on the back tells you how you can pair them. For instance wear shades one and two during the day, add in three for the evening, and four when you are going out. That is exactly what I need because I love eyeshadow but I do not really know how to use them, at least to their potential. She also showed me the Charlotte Tilbury lipstick which like the shadow was also gorgeous, and has a squared tip for application (she recommended this one for me: Very Victoria (it looks a little darker online). Even after the event ended Lizia took me downstairs to show me the other palettes she recommended for me for one of the upcoming parties I have to go to, like this one called The Vintage Vamp, OBSESSED. In addition to the makeup she had this amazing perfume out (that I got a sample of!) called Le Labo. I had no idea that a new trend is us ladies layering our perfume with our man’s cologne (layering scents, who would have thought!). She demonstrated this with the Le Labo samples layering JASMIN 17 (which jasmine is probably one of my favorite scents on the planet) with SANTAL 33 (which is a scent that men can wear, described as “unisex”) and the mix was so great and unique. I didn’t get a chance to check out the Le Labo counter but I totally want to next time because she said they fill your perfume right then and there, how cool!

I am so happy I did not chicken out like I wanted to and that I actually went to this event (go me for doing something on my own, progress!). I had such a great time that I am going to go to another night, in fact I want to try to come to as many as I can. A big part of my experience was Taylor and Lizia. Ladies I do not know if you will ever read this but you were both so awesome, welcoming and warm, you totally made the event, so thank you and I will see you again very soon!

Stay tuned out there because you will be definitely seeing some of the new styles I learned!

I am almost embarrassed about the lighting in this photo but it was the best I could get in my poorly lit apartment in the middle of the night, so…

PS – I just finally found the leopard top! Which apparently I should have been searching for “Tan Dale Animal”… interesting haha. It is by Hinge and is linked here! I also found the other top I want, the Chelsea28 Double Ruffle Blouse in Ivory Pristine.

Okay now I am done, have a happy Friday!

Midi Skirt!

I’ve worn a variation of this outfit once before, but it was geared more for summer. With fall literally around the corner, as in tomorrow (I cannot even contain my excitement) I paired this beautiful skirt with a long sleeve chambray top instead of the sleeveless. I just love it and apparently everyone else did too because I got a lot of compliments. These skirts are so easy yet look so dressed up (I say “these” because yes I have a second one). I found them on BooHoo and they have a lot of different styles, plus it was really inexpensive. I love simple outfits that look really put together. The other good thing about this skirt is all the options you can wear with it because it has so many colors in the print. Perfect for all seasons!

Pop of Color

How cute is this midi skirt?! I wasn’t sure if it was too circus tent-y, but I couldn’t get it out of my head from the moment I saw it. I decided it was too fun not to buy. I wore it to work but it would also be great for dress up events like brunch, a bridal shower, or a birthday party.

I paired it with my sleeveless chambray top and my rose gold heels, you know for a little pop, because a bright yellow skirt needs more pop…

I got so many compliments on this outfit from the minute I walked in the door at work! I just loved it! Probably one of the best parts about it is how inexpensive the skirt is. I got it half off on BooHoo.com. I’m excited to see what other looks I can make with it. Check it out!

Month Long Challenge, Style, the.B.Law

Bell Sleeves and Embroidery

Yesterday my old roomie/best friend/sorority sister/and the.B.Law style panelist Heather and I started a month long challenge. In this challenge we are on wallet lockdown. There will be no purchasing of unnecessary items ESPECIALLY clothing. We also have to wear a different outfit everyday with no repeats, creating new looks with the clothes we already have in our closets. Now to be honest, 30 days of new outfits doesn’t fully intimidate me. I am not one for outfit repeating and I know Heather isn’t either. There are days though where I wake up late and just go for something safe, that I know works. This challenge is starting off at a month to make me be creative everyday and could very well continue to an additional month. We will see!

Anyways, today is day 2 and here is my look! I saw this embroidered, button up, striped, bell sleeve top and thought it was weird yet I was strangely fascinated by it. I literally walked back up to it in Target two more times after I first saw it. I remembered a skirt from BooHoo I wanted and thought it might be the perfect pair for this top. I left and didn’t buy it. I had to see if I would still think about it after I left (that is how I really know I want something). I looked up the skirt again on BooHoo and was sold. I ordered the skirt and went to Target the next day to get the shirt. Well the skirt came in and was entirely too small so I had to make an online return, which honestly I have always been terrified to make for some odd reason but it turned out to be so easy that I felt silly. FINALLY I got the new skirt it and it fit! Note about the skirt, it does not stretch so although it may fit around your waist your leg spread really isn’t all that wide. Not that you should really need it to be but its not, and I walk fast and I don’t feel like my legs have the proper speed potential. That sounds totally ridiculous and can totally go off in a bad direction so moving on… The color of the skirt isn’t quite the same pink as in the embroidery but I really like it together. Check it out below!

Pink Pants for the Win!

When I bought these pink, belted, high waist pants by Topshop at Nordstrom, I only had one combination in mind at the time. Now I am on my 4th style with them! Although all in the same black and white color scheme, the looks were all mostly different. First I paired a white, high neck chiffon blouse with tan heels, then a black tank with black heels, then a black and white striped tank with a black blazer and black heels, and now a black and dark-cream(ish) nice tee (that is kind of a weird description but you will get it when you see it below) and black heels. My only concern when I bought these pants was finding something to pair with them besides my first white blouse. Now I already have a 5th and 6th idea, next up a gray top but I still haven’t found the right one. What I really want to find is a colorful print top that goes well with the color. Any suggestions please let me know!

Feeling Sashy

Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a great weekend. I did nothing and it was great. Definitely got some much needed sleep. Can you believe it is already July 10th? This year has gone so fast and I feel like I can’t catch up. Pinterest is already suggesting fall outfits. Don’t get me wrong, I have said countless times that fall is my favorite season, but part of the love is the anticipation. Me, patiently waiting for the first day that I see leaves on the ground and the first day I get to wear a sweater and boots. This year though it feels like I may blink and it will be here.

Anyways, sorry about my tangent. Today’s look has been a long time coming. I bought this top a while ago from Target and had this great idea to pair it with high waist black pants. It took some time to find a pair I liked. Well honestly not too long, I found some with a sash tie waist at Express but kept waiting for a sale and it never happened. I was browsing Boohoo recently and saw some that were similar and would do, AND they were only $20.

The two pieces paired together perfectly! The top is great because although it is sleeveless it is still work appropriate which helps with this heat lately! Check it out and find the items linked below:

Color Blocked!

Will you please check out this color blocked, pleated midi skirt I found from WhoWhatWear at Target?! It instantly caught my eye. I saw it and picked it up, then put it back. They I came by it again and touched it, but left it again. Then a THIRD time I picked it up and held it up to myself in the mirror. Okay, okay, SOLD! I had to get it, which surprised myself that I liked it so much. I am not normally drawn to reds but I loved this. There are even red slacks I have my eye on. I think I just love how bright it is, the skirt is such a statement piece. The skirt IS the outfit which is why I paired an off with top with it. The top needs to be simple with this skirt, otherwise I would look like a walking fiesta!

Cute Little Collar

I found this darling little tee on sale at Macy’s from Maison Jules and I had to have it! I love the scalloped detail and the Peter Pan collar. When I was looking at it at first I wasn’t quite sure what to pair it with, but remembered I had an off white subtlety patterned skirt, also from Maison Jules. Putting the two together worked out great and makes a good work outfit. I wore the combo with tan heels for work, but they can also be changed out for tan or brown sandals to wear casually. I feel slightly like a little girl in this outfit but I still love it, and it’s great for spring!

So Macy’s still has this top buuut only in like 2 sizes. I’ll link it here anyways just in case! If you like it check out all of Maison Jules, I loooove their stuff!

New Spring Outfit!

I love when you see an outfit you want to recreate, and then you successfully do it! I was on the Bloguettes’ website and saw it, a blue and white thin striped button up, with a tan blazer, and white pants, simple. I thought how great it would be for work, so different than the usual black, gray, or navy slacks. Spring is Monday and it’s time to brighten things up! I already had white pants (they are technically jeans so I need to invest in some white slacks) and a tan blazer, I just needed the button up. Strolling through Target, I found it! When I put the whole combo on together it looked even better than I thought. I like that both the button up and the blazer are kind of oversized, although I do want to find a normal length tan blazer, any suggestions?! I could probably hide the fact that these are jeans at work but I’ll just keep it as a casual Friday outfit until I get slacks.

Hope you like it! Happy weekend!
