High Waist, High Neck!

Dressing up for the office is fun, but it’s really easy to be lazy and pick out something quick and boring. I’ve fallen into this bland funk numerous times where instead of picking my outfit the night before like I should, I rush in the morning, running late per usual (note: I’m always rushing and running late but I am never late), and I just grab black slacks, black pumps, a plain top, and sometimes add a blazer. I apologize if this is your usual outfit and I’ve offended you, but this does not cut it for me. I have a standard and on these days when I don’t make it I notice it in my attitude. I’ve mentioned before how when you look good, you feel good. A great outfit gives you confidence. When I just grab something quick with little thought the day just feels drab. I don’t want to blend in with others in the office, I want to stand out. Honestly it’s going to happen though, some days you just have to be boring, but then some days you come across an outfit like this one. What says the opposite of boring more than pink high waisted pants?

When I first saw them I wasn’t too sure how they would look on, but I tried them anyways and they are perfect! They are by Topshop from Nordstrom. It was kind of funny finding them because I had just seen an outfit on Instagram I wanted to recreate and it had similar style pants.

Next I knew I needed a white, high neck blouse but it took a little longer to find the right one. I finally checked my go to work brand from Macy’s, Maison Jules, and found the perfect one on sale. Unfortunately the tan Steve Madden pumps I ordered for myself for my birthday were actually sold out and I got the most depressing email delivering the bad news. I had to wear my other nude sandal heels from Steve Madden which worked well, but I’m still not over the loss.

Overall this outfit not only was amazing but a total confidence booster, it was just so cute! A guy even complimented my pants (excuse the hurricane wind from me flipping my hair).

Moral of the story, put time into your outfits!

Who – What – Wear – PINK!

Remember my second to last post Red, White, and Plaid! when I talked about loving the ankle slacks from Target? Welllll I got another pair… But I had to! They’re PINK! They don’t sell this color in the store so I had to order them. They came in Friday so OF COURSE I had to wear them to work today! I am also in love with this new striped tank I got to go with them. It’s also from Target but from the WhoWhatWear line. It’s the perfect shape and is a light chiffon material but not so see through where you have to worry about wearing something underneath. I paired this combo with a black statement necklace from Charming Charlie and my peep toe booties from G Stage. It is my new favorite outfit right now!

Statements and Stripes

This navy skirt from Maison Jules is turning into one of my favorite pieces. This is my third outfit with it! I’ve gone from solid, to polka dots, and now to stripes. I paired it with a three quarter length white and navy striped top, white strappy sandals, and topped it off with a purple gem statement necklace with a couple navy stones to tie it in. I love this outfit, so easy and so comfy.

Ps- my boyfriend asked me why I was dressed like a flight attendant.

Heels All Day

I bought these super cute heels by Steve Madden off of 6PM.com forever ago. Want to see how long ago? Let me check……. this long ago, I wrote this post when I got them, Tragic Shopping, on April 29, 2015! That was five months ago! These poor babies have been stuck in a dusty old box. That ended today! I had been waiting for the perfect time to wear them, finally I just decided I was going to wear them to work. After all, they are work appropriate, and not to mention fun! I said recently in my First Day of Fall post that I hoped wearing my black heels (also from my Tragic Shopping post) with the shorter, thick heel could be my transition into wearing heels to work, I’ve always wanted to do that, I know I am silly. I think it is working though!

Well to the point, I paired my tan suede and snake skin pumps with dark cuffed skinny jeans, a plain high neck gray tank, a blush blazer, and a gold statement necklace. So easy, yet so put together. It was a casual way to wear the heels without looking too dressed up. I did predictably get the look of why are you wearing heels, and also asked why I wear them when I am already tall. Yes I am tall and have always been slightly self conscious about it, but I am trying to own it now. If I want to wear heels then I will and pretend I am just a model and won’t care what everyone else thinks! Easier said than done, but I am practicing! Check it out!

I was pretty excited to wear today’s outfit. I found another sale while I was at Macy’s to only pay my bill, and you guessed it, another Maison Jules find. There were items already on sale and then they were having their VIP sale as well, SO this completely adorable white top with navy and pink polka dots was originally $59.90, was on sale for 25% off then I got 20% off for the VIP sale and it came out to $35.94! I wanted it because not only does it go great with my navy skirt I posted about awhile go from Maison Jules, but it will also look cute with jeans and with a blazer when it starts to get cold. It is also totally work appropriate.

Like I said I paired my top with my navy pencil-ish skirt and topped it off with a small navy statement necklace. The necklace was kind of super matchy but it worked. I wasn’t totally sure on what shoes to wear so I added a brown leather belt so that I could wear my brown leather sandal wedges from Madden Girl. This way the outfit was dressy but not super dressy. After all no one really dresses up at work except for myself and the boss lady, so when I wear something pretty nice people ask me why, I mean it is a construction company. “Why are you dressed up?” “Uh, for work?” I don’t need a reason, I just like to look nice. Remember? You look good, you feel good. Anyways check it out! And stay tuned for the other item I got on sale along with this top! (Hopefully tomorrow it will debut!)
