Pink Ruffles!

As I am sure you have noticed, ruffles are becoming a pretty big trend right now. I have been dabbling a little, but I have been noticing myself being drawn more and more to them. Last month, another blogger I follow was wearing this pink striped off the shoulder top and I thought it was so cute! I checked the online shop where she bought it from, SheIn, and it was only $14! Clearly I had to buy one. I also found these white hight waist “mom” shorts from Topshop at Nordstrom. The two paired together perfectly! I wore it to brunch with two of my girlfriends and everyone loved it. It sounds silly but I really loved the big ruffle because it made me feel so fancy! Check it out below!

Cute Little Collar

I found this darling little tee on sale at Macy’s from Maison Jules and I had to have it! I love the scalloped detail and the Peter Pan collar. When I was looking at it at first I wasn’t quite sure what to pair it with, but remembered I had an off white subtlety patterned skirt, also from Maison Jules. Putting the two together worked out great and makes a good work outfit. I wore the combo with tan heels for work, but they can also be changed out for tan or brown sandals to wear casually. I feel slightly like a little girl in this outfit but I still love it, and it’s great for spring!

So Macy’s still has this top buuut only in like 2 sizes. I’ll link it here anyways just in case! If you like it check out all of Maison Jules, I loooove their stuff!

New Spring Outfit!

I love when you see an outfit you want to recreate, and then you successfully do it! I was on the Bloguettes’ website and saw it, a blue and white thin striped button up, with a tan blazer, and white pants, simple. I thought how great it would be for work, so different than the usual black, gray, or navy slacks. Spring is Monday and it’s time to brighten things up! I already had white pants (they are technically jeans so I need to invest in some white slacks) and a tan blazer, I just needed the button up. Strolling through Target, I found it! When I put the whole combo on together it looked even better than I thought. I like that both the button up and the blazer are kind of oversized, although I do want to find a normal length tan blazer, any suggestions?! I could probably hide the fact that these are jeans at work but I’ll just keep it as a casual Friday outfit until I get slacks.

Hope you like it! Happy weekend!

Ruffle Trend

I am absolutely loving how big ruffles are right now. They are just so cute and girly. I feel like ruffles make you look more dressed up than you are, which can be really fun. I got this light pink ruffle top from the Who What Wear line at Target and it is so cute (see I told you I was really into pink tops right now). The ruffle detail adds enough flair to be able to just wear the top with slacks for work, you don’t need to add anything else to look put together. Simple outfits are great to have, especially on those mornings when you’re running late and need to grab something quick to wear. I paired this top with black slacks and leopard pumps (just for fun) and it was so easy and comfy for work. I also want to try it with white slacks and tan heels next. Wouldn’t that be cute?! (It would work with jeans to for casual Friday or the weekend too!) You can find the top here!

Happy Monday!

Seasonal Bag Change

Each season brings new colors. Fall and winter bring more darks and solids, while spring and summer bring bright colors and popping patterns, and all four seasons share the neutrals. Well spring is fast approaching and it’s time to change it up. Out with my gray and mauve bag and in with this beautiful blue one (insert heart eyes). I have never had a bag this color and I am in love! My boyfriend’s mom got this one for me for Christmas from Charming Charlie (she obviously knows me) and I have been waiting for the opportune time to start using it, as in now! I love the fact that it is square and structured and can stand up by itself. It can be so annoying to have a floppy purse, they slouch down and it is impossible to find things in it. This one I can dig in it while it is sitting in its seat and find everything just fine. Not to mention I also love the different compartments. The purse I was previously using, although very cute, was just one giant compartment and I gave myself rage everyday digging through it for my keys or lip gloss. This square one is also great for work because it is huge! Check it out, it is linked here! (buuuuut Charming Charlie doesnt have this color online but they have a BEAUTIFUL mint or “Seafoam” and super pretty light coral)

PS- in the course of finding this bag on the Charming Charlie website, I found about three other bags I want now… so maybe stay tuned?

Loose Peplum

I remember when I first got into peplum tops. It was probably about three years ago when I still worked in retail, I bought two different tops. Most of the peplum tops that came out were similar, usually fitted and on the shorter side, they came right to the top of your pants. Those aren’t my style anymore and I haven’t seen much of them around either. There is a new style I am getting behind though, loose and long peplum tops. My bfffff got me this light blush top for my birthday from Target. The peplum detail of this top is so subtle I almost didn’t realize it was that style at all. I love the fact that it is loose and flows, and is also long and covers up the top of your pants.

For work I wore this top with a pair of black slacks and heels, keeping it simple, but to add a little more I topped it with one of my favorite blazers. It is heather gray, oversized (boyfriend blazer), and stands out. It all went well together and was comfy. This top is also great with jeans and can be worn casually, the buttons and the pockets on the front help make it not too dressy. Lastly I LOVE the color. I am having a serious obsession with blush right now. Pink is one of my favorite colors but for some reason I never really had a lot of pink clothes, but lately I have noticed a growing section of blush in my closet. The majority of my recent additions have been blush so stay tuned for a few more!

High Waist, High Neck!

Dressing up for the office is fun, but it’s really easy to be lazy and pick out something quick and boring. I’ve fallen into this bland funk numerous times where instead of picking my outfit the night before like I should, I rush in the morning, running late per usual (note: I’m always rushing and running late but I am never late), and I just grab black slacks, black pumps, a plain top, and sometimes add a blazer. I apologize if this is your usual outfit and I’ve offended you, but this does not cut it for me. I have a standard and on these days when I don’t make it I notice it in my attitude. I’ve mentioned before how when you look good, you feel good. A great outfit gives you confidence. When I just grab something quick with little thought the day just feels drab. I don’t want to blend in with others in the office, I want to stand out. Honestly it’s going to happen though, some days you just have to be boring, but then some days you come across an outfit like this one. What says the opposite of boring more than pink high waisted pants?

When I first saw them I wasn’t too sure how they would look on, but I tried them anyways and they are perfect! They are by Topshop from Nordstrom. It was kind of funny finding them because I had just seen an outfit on Instagram I wanted to recreate and it had similar style pants.

Next I knew I needed a white, high neck blouse but it took a little longer to find the right one. I finally checked my go to work brand from Macy’s, Maison Jules, and found the perfect one on sale. Unfortunately the tan Steve Madden pumps I ordered for myself for my birthday were actually sold out and I got the most depressing email delivering the bad news. I had to wear my other nude sandal heels from Steve Madden which worked well, but I’m still not over the loss.

Overall this outfit not only was amazing but a total confidence booster, it was just so cute! A guy even complimented my pants (excuse the hurricane wind from me flipping my hair).

Moral of the story, put time into your outfits!

Shoe Obsessed

Shoes are a very important aspect of a wardrobe. They are the thing that you will wear again and again through different outfits. I have a slight shoe problem, I have so many, but I know I am not alone in this addiction. My real issue is not the shoes but rather the fact that I do not have enough room for my shoes (no denial here right?!). The last pair I bought I literally had to get rid of an old pair just so my new pair would have a spot in my closet. I have all sorts from sneakers, to flats, to heels, boots, and booties. I think my obsession has gotten worse the last few months since I actually wear heels to work almost every day now. Why are shoes so important though?

Shoes play a very important role in your style, they can make or break an outfit. Often times they may even be the star of your outfit, the key factor that ties it together or sets your look apart. Personal style is a great way to express yourself and that goes all the way down to what you put on your feet. I think you can tell a lot about someone by their choice of shoes. Are they confident, outgoing, colorful, trying too hard, real or a fake? My shoe obsession does not end with my own feet, everyone I meet I look at their shoes. I even look at strangers’ shoes, it is just something that I do, it interests me. I have even used it on multiple occasions as a conversation starter.

I love this quote I came across today:

Shoes transform your body language and attitude. They lift you physically and emotionally – Christian Louboutin

He is so right. There is a certain feeling you get when you put on that new pair of shoes. You are excited to wear them and excited to be seen in them. You walk better in them, have more pep in your step. You get a sudden burst of confidence and your attitude is that like your new shoes, you too are new. I can relate to that, I love that new shoe feeling, just look at my closet!

Is anyone else with me on this?!

Well Hello There 90’s

We always see styles recycle and different trends come circling back around. Last year, and still remaining in this year was a lot of 70’s, hippie, flower child, looks of flairs and florals. This year we are seeing some 90’s trends.

Exhibit A: the choker

I maybe only wore a choker once or twice back in the day and when they came back recently I rolled my eyes and thought why? As usual, the more and more you see a trend the more you kind of want to try it. So I found a dainty, scalloped lace black choker on sale at Nordstrom for $5 and thought what the heck. Turns out, I love it! That doesn’t mean I am all gong-ho about all chokers, I am drawn more to the thin styles. I want a choker to be an accent and enhancer to an outfit, not be drastic and draw all the attention. Adding a thin choker to a casual outfit, like I did here with a v-neck, adds just enough to make it look stylish and not just thrown on. I wasn’t intending to wear a blazer with this outfit, I only brought it because I needed a jacket and I ended up liking the whole combo. I think I have mentioned before how I like throwing a blazer over a casual outfit like a tee but I especially like this one because it is a boyfriend blazer and fits looser.

Exhibit B: thick soled sneaks

Now another trend I have noticed is thick soled sneakers. Again I was against this, until I saw the right ones for me, and now I have two pairs. I got them from Target (of course), they are from the dv line. The first pair I bought are a peach color which you will see here soon enough, and the second pair that I am wearing below my old roomie got for me for my birthday. They are so cute, I already have summer outfits planned which require cut off shorts and a tan (perfect for my vacation in June!). What’s even better is they are only $29.99 and run true to size. Want to know a secret? Shoes are 25% off on the Target Cartwheel app until Monday! I tried linking these for you here but I cannot find them online, BUT I was at Target today and I saw them there still.

Check it out and happy weekend!

Valentine’s Countdown: Day 7

Today is the day, Happy Valentine’s Day! I hope you all are being festive and are wearing pink or red! I think that is one of the main reasons I like Valentine’s Day, pink is my favorite color and so much cute stuff comes out at this time, and hearts!

Just as I promised I got a picture in my tutu skirt outfit from my day 2 post (find it here). I am so in love with this outfit and even more so when it is on. I feel like a princess with somewhere important to go. It is just so classy and girly I can’t get enough, and again I am still all about pairing my pink velvet heels with it. What a combo!

I hope you all enjoy today and eat some chocolate, I know I am! <3<3
