Brightening for Spring!

In my last post Patio Ideas I told you about my ideas for my patio, those ideas will go into effect next weekend when I actually get to paint my chairs. But until then, I made a minor upgrade to my kitchen table (which for those of you who have actually been to my place know that my kitchen table is no where near my kitchen but in my living room- I know it sounds strange but weirdly works? #apartmentlife). Anyways, I had bought new gray placemats and towels but hadn’t found gray oven mitts yet. I tried the Dollar Tree while I was out today and found these instead!

They are much brighter in person but how cute are they?! I even got matching placemats. So in all I spent $6 on two new place mats, two new dish towels, and 3 oven mitts. I go to the Dollar Tree for two reasons: One- I’m on a budget and why buy something for $5 when you can get them for $1? Am I right? Two- living with a boy who attempts to cook his way means a lot of ruined oven mitts. Like can’t you pull your frozen pizza out of the oven without getting melted cheese all over the oven mitt? Or please don’t lay your spoon covered in food on top of the oven mitt. See my point? If I get these cheap ones I don’t mind tossing them and getting new ones.

I’m excited to slowly brighten things up for Spring so be sure to check back next weekend to see the patio! Also, thanks to Amanda at Glitter it Gold, I went to Trader Joes to find sunflowers and got these for $3.99!

Patio Ideas

Recently I have been really obsessed with the idea of our patio. Our small little apartment patio only has a mini fridge on it. It’s so sad! I have been wanting to get a table and chairs forever and I even bought a super cute rug at the end of last summer that is still sitting rolled up on the floor. I finally decided what I want for it and thanks to Pinterest I get to MAKE it into exactly what I want. It’s a small space so I’m using the metal fold up chairs and a TV tray, this way everything is colaspable and perfect for a small area. I will be painting the chairs the color I want and I seriously cannot wait! The weather has been so nice that I’m sad every Saturday and Sunday morning that I can’t drink my coffee and read on the patio. I will for sure be doing before an after photos! I also drove by Home Depot this week and out front they had a yellow pot with yellow daisies in it and I have not been able to stop thinking about them since! They will be the centerpiece of my patio. What better way to welcome spring! Anyways, stay tuned! Cute patio coming your way soon!

Who – What – Wear – PINK!

Remember my second to last post Red, White, and Plaid! when I talked about loving the ankle slacks from Target? Welllll I got another pair… But I had to! They’re PINK! They don’t sell this color in the store so I had to order them. They came in Friday so OF COURSE I had to wear them to work today! I am also in love with this new striped tank I got to go with them. It’s also from Target but from the WhoWhatWear line. It’s the perfect shape and is a light chiffon material but not so see through where you have to worry about wearing something underneath. I paired this combo with a black statement necklace from Charming Charlie and my peep toe booties from G Stage. It is my new favorite outfit right now!

New Bag!

I went to Las Vegas on Tuesday to go to a trade show for work and since I was out there, I got to see my Roomie!! I had a dinner first for work but she got to come meet us after at the Ghost Bar. It was a short meeting but it was so fun! Annnnd she gave me my birthday present. Please witness how cute and convertible it is:

It’s called the “Wallaby Mama Bag-In-Bag”. There are 5 different ways to wear this baby! She got it from Charming Charlie (my favorite place, I got some cute bracelets there today that I will show you later)!

Right after this blog I will be changing over to it because I can’t wait to use it. It’s the perfect start to Spring, especially in this warm weather we are having!!

You can find the bag here!

Hello Spring

Good morning and hello Spring! Yes today is the first day of Spring and I couldn’t be more excited. Well I could if it was Fall. Fall and Spring are my two favorite seasons. Why? For the fashion of course! Fall is when it starts to cool off, but not freezing, and you get to wear sweaters and tights. Spring is when it starts to get warmer, but not too warm, and we get to break out the shorts, tanks, and sun dresses. There are always the typical Spring trends like florals and brighter colors, but there are so many ways to style these. There is so much pattern mixing right now and I am ready to embrace it. I cannot wait to see what I can make out of what I already have in my closet.

tart deco 2

In honor of the first day of Spring I had to do bright nails! This is one of my favorite Spring and even Summer colors “tart deco” by essie. This coral color is so fun and stands out, and not to mention makes your hands look tan. Of course I had to top it off with my essie “all in one” top coat. I have a serious nail polish obsession so more Spring colors will be coming and I am so excited!

Hello Fab Accessories

I am LOVING my accessories I got from Hello Fab in the mail today! They are perfect to add a splash of color to a Spring outfit. The necklace is not too loud, which is great because you can add it to most outfits even if it doesn’t quite match all the way. Its subtle shape will make it look like it blends perfectly with any top. It is amazing how much of a difference a statement necklace, even one smaller like this one, can completely change an outfit.

The earrings are also great, not only in a dressy outfit, but with a plain tee, a pair of denim shorts or pants, sandals, and a messy bun. They are such a good way to add a little something to a completely comfy outfit. It is a hidden way to look like you put more effort into your outfit than you did. Those are some of the best outfits, ones consisting effortless style.

I can’t wait to get more from Hello Fab! Be sure to check them out!

Hint of Mint

I have been on a search for the perfect mint nail polish and I have finally found it- “turquoise & caicos” by essie. This color is so cute and perfect to start bringing in the Spring colors!

I’ve been working on keeping my nails nice at all times. I absolutely hate when I chip one, but it usually happens from me typing all day at work. I guess I type a little too hard but whatever. I wanted to find a new clear coat that actually works well. When I bought my new nail polish, at Target of course, I also found the essie “all in one” clear coat. This polish is a base coat, a top coat, and helps strengthen nails. I found what I was looking for “all in one”! This is my first day trying it so I’ll make an update if it lasts and if my nails get stronger.

Get your spring nails ready! This week mint, next week coral!

Tip: when painting nails before bed, using a color that requires three coats and a top coat, make sure they are REALLY dry before going to bed or you’ll wake up with sheet indents… On every nail… #tragic

Tragic Fashion- “Florals? For Spring? Groundbreaking.” -Miranda Priestly, The Devil Wears Prada

I just can’t get enough of these little spring shoes that I got from… Target of course, and of course ON SALE! These babies were on sale for $14! I’ve already worn them a few times and they were comfy all day long. They go great with cuffed jeans and just add cuteness to your outfit. Spring will be here faster than we know it so it’s time to start spring cleaning our closets to make room in preparation for new spring clothes. I can’t wait!
