Spring Dress!

My bfffff and I did another month with no shopping and it ended last week. Obviously the day it ended I was dying to buy something. I had an email that Old Navy was having a Spring sale so I decided to go there after work, I always have good luck at Old Navy. Well hello sale! I went a tad overboard and got 3 tops, a dress, and a pair of boyfriend jeans, all on sale! The tops were $8 each and I do not remember how much the dress and the jeans were but they were both 40% off. I love finding great deals! So far I have only worn the boyfriend jeans which stretched out so much while I was wearing them that I had to wash them right away and put them in the dryer (hopefully that helped) and the dress, which I have worn twice…in three days, don’t judge. It is just so cute! It is blush pink, loose, flow, pleated, and the perfect length. I wore it on Easter with my taupe fringe booties and a gold statement necklace.

Then I wore it yesterday with a long open knit cardigan, a gray scarf, gray knee socks, and tan boots.

See! It is totally versatile! I already have another idea of how to wear it next time. Totally a good investment. You will see the rest of the pieces later, I still need a couple things for the outfits I am planning.

You can shop the dress here!

Well, have a great Friday tomorrow!

Who – What – Wear – PINK!

Remember my second to last post Red, White, and Plaid! when I talked about loving the ankle slacks from Target? Welllll I got another pair… But I had to! They’re PINK! They don’t sell this color in the store so I had to order them. They came in Friday so OF COURSE I had to wear them to work today! I am also in love with this new striped tank I got to go with them. It’s also from Target but from the WhoWhatWear line. It’s the perfect shape and is a light chiffon material but not so see through where you have to worry about wearing something underneath. I paired this combo with a black statement necklace from Charming Charlie and my peep toe booties from G Stage. It is my new favorite outfit right now!

PINspired

One of the reasons I had been looking forward to the wedding I attended on Saturday was because I was so excited about the outfit I was going to wear! I picked this out like over a month ago, ever since I saw a picture on Pinterest. The color combination was so cute that I was determined to recreate it. I love recreating outfits from Pinterest, it makes me feel so accomplished, and it is fun to make it your own way too. The dress in the picture was more of a coral, I however found a more hot pink shift dress, and get this, it was only $20 from one of my go to stores G Stage. To find the mint/tealish accessories I went straight to my go to accessory store, Charming Charlie. I am obsessed with this store and really should not be allowed to go in by myself. I had no worries about finding the right color I needed for my necklace and clutch, this store is accessory heaven! I even found more than one option and almost couldn’t decide. I ended up with the perfect match though and at a good price, the necklace was $12 (I believe or around there), and the clutch was $25! Of course I had a coupon too- hooray for smart shopping! As for my heels, I stuck with the best pair of heels I have ever owned. I was in one of my best friend’s weddings (you may know her from Glitter It Gold) in August and we got the best heels! They are beige heels by Levity from DSW and has been the best money I have ever spent on shoes, and they were only $50 or $60! I wore them in her wedding, to our next friend’s wedding, to the bridal shower for the wedding this past Saturday, AND to the wedding as well. They are just so comfortable and match with so much!

Anyways, I was super excited about how my outfit came out so enjoy!

Not So Tragic Cupcakes

It’s weird but I realized that I have never actually made cupcakes. I’ve always been a brownie type of girl. I keep seeing such cute cupcakes on Pinterest though so I thought it was time I gave it a try, and with Mother’s Day this weekend I had a perfect excuse.

I went and got all of the supplies after work, starting with Hobby Lobby. If I was going to make cupcakes then I was going all out and getting a frosting bag and tip, none of that smear your frosting on top business (no offense). After I got the decorating supplies I went to the store to get the mix and frosting. Now I have been known to make excellent brownies, but ever since I moved out I’ve been burning them, and everything. I couldn’t figure out what was wrong until my roomie realized that we were used to cooking with an electric oven at our parents’ and now we have gas. It cooks a lot faster! With this in mind I bought two boxes of mix in anticipation of burning the first batch.

I mixed everything and my roomie helped me pour the mix in the cups. The directions said 14-19 minutes so I started off with 10. While they baked I turned my white frosting into the perfect shade of pink with a few drops of red food coloring. I impressed myself. 10 minutes was up and I checked the cupcakes, they needed a couple more minutes. After that they were perfect. Wait, did I just bake without burning?! I believe I did! Frosting was what I was really looking forward to. My roomie helped me fill the bag and I went to work. It was a little harder than I thought but I got the hang of it. Who would have thought I would be good at cupcakes?!

I saw a cute thing on Pinterest to “gift” a cupcake in an upside down jar so that’s what we did. We made Mother’s Day cupcake gifts and they turned out super cute! Next time I’ll make bigger cupcakes though but here is the finished product!

The Power of Lipstick

Lipstick has been a a big love of mine. I have collected quite a few, my weakness, Mac. When I say quite a few, I mean…

lipstick 1

That pile is even missing a few. I fell out of wearing it for awhile because of where I was working, we were only allowed to wear “natural” makeup. Now I’m getting back into them full swing! I don’t know about how other girls feel when they put on lipstick, but for me, I feel different. It is like my lipsticks have powers. I get a new sense of confidence when I am wearing a bright one. It’s an attention grabber. It really is true that when you look good, you feel good. Today I wore my favorite new bright pink Viva Glam Miley by Miley Cyrus.

If I were to ever have my own lipstick line, I would want them to have inspirational names for women like “You Go Girl”, “This Is Your Day”, and “You Got This”. They would give a little more confidence when you wear them and every time you reapply.

Here is to having confidence and pretty lips!
