When I bought these pink, belted, high waist pants by Topshop at Nordstrom, I only had one combination in mind at the time. Now I am on my 4th style with them! Although all in the same black and white color scheme, the looks were all mostly different. First I paired a white, high neck chiffon blouse with tan heels, then a black tank with black heels, then a black and white striped tank with a black blazer and black heels, and now a black and dark-cream(ish) nice tee (that is kind of a weird description but you will get it when you see it below) and black heels. My only concern when I bought these pants was finding something to pair with them besides my first white blouse. Now I already have a 5th and 6th idea, next up a gray top but I still haven’t found the right one. What I really want to find is a colorful print top that goes well with the color. Any suggestions please let me know!
While out on our longboard, die in the desert adventure in Palm Springs two weeks ago, my bffff and I stopped by our favorite store in downtown Heavenly Couture. I have told you all about them before, NOTHING is over $16.99! WHAAAA?! Now I make it a point to always stop by when I am down there (She said she saw one in Huntington Beach but wasn’t sure if the pricing was the same so yes I will be down there soon checking it out). One of the items I found was a pale blue, belted duster (I am going to be honest here, I just found out it was called a duster LOL! I was calling it a long vest).
I wore it to work this week and I really liked it! It is not something I would normally wear but I have been working on trying more new things out of my norm. I got a lot of compliments on it too. My outfit made me think of fall because I added the booties and the color scheme. Now I am getting excited for fall, but then I remembered we still have ALL of August to sweat through. Anyways, check it out!
Heavenly Couture doesn’t really have their stuff online to link so looks like you will just have to go check them out 😉
On Sunday I dropped my boyfriend off to go to his training that he will be at for 25 days, so I will have lots of girl time. No hesitation here, right after I dropped him off I went to pick up my bfffff and we were off to Palm Springs! We had been wanting to go there for pictures because we just love the downtown area. We planned this maybe last Thursday (yet we still call ourselves spontaneous. Okay I call it spontaneous and my bfffff reminds me that it is not if it was planned a few days before. I am working on it). She has had this vision to take pictures on a longboard and she has gone back and forth on actually buying one. When we planned this day I said too bad we don’t have a long board yet. We came up with the idea to buy a cheap normal skateboard which she did for like $25 but the top wasn’t plain so she spray painted it. Let’s talk about dedication. She also told me she ordered the longboard too but we were not expecting it to come in within two days. We have this joke that we will do (almost) anything for a cute photo… and the story continues.
We got out to Palm Springs a little after 10am. It was already over 90 degrees but didn’t feel too harsh yet. We had a game plan: park in the center of the downtown strip and take a lap looking for good photo spots. Not seeing any good spots, besides my cactus friends, I remembered the pink wall I saw on the Palm Springs Style Instagram. Turns out it was a mile and a half behind us and a 32 minute walk. We were not walking there, it was getting hotter by the minute.
On our walk back towards the car we decided to cool off in our favorite store on the strip because duh why would you not cool off and shop at the same time? Heavenly Couture, which we discovered has two locations on the strip, has cute clothes with nothing over $16.99. I ended up with a cute top from the first location on sale for $6.99 and a long vest from the second location for $16.99 (both you will see in a later post).
Store, check. Next stop Starbucks for pink drinks. Yes the drinks were strictly for props for our long board photos in front of the pink wall. Told you, anything for a cute pic. Starbucks, check. Don’t drink too much of your pink dribk before the picture even though you are dehydrated from the heat, check. Into the car and blast the AC, check. It was now 106 degrees. We found the pink wall and luckily it is before all of the traffic in downtown. The pink wall is actually the front of a little shopping building with I think 11 little shops called, The Shops at Thirteen Forty-Five. It was the perfect spot for our longboard pictures. The standing pics were fine, even though I was so unsteady on it. Then we tried the rolling videos. It seemed so simple but was not for me. The second part of this mission was to get a video of us riding the board together. We were going to use my tripod for this but didn’t want to do it at the wall so we drove and found a street right around the corner. I set up the tripod and we got ready. By this time it felt like 1,000 degrees and we were dripping sweat. We only got a couple tries in until we both felt like vomiting and decided to go to lunch. Plus my camera felt like it was going to melt.
We ate lunch at our favorite, Las Casuelas, then went to my mom’s so she could record us. Take after take and we finally got one semi good video of us riding the board. It is SO much harder than it looks! We will keep practicing though. Check it out and you can find our style linked below!

Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a great weekend. I did nothing and it was great. Definitely got some much needed sleep. Can you believe it is already July 10th? This year has gone so fast and I feel like I can’t catch up. Pinterest is already suggesting fall outfits. Don’t get me wrong, I have said countless times that fall is my favorite season, but part of the love is the anticipation. Me, patiently waiting for the first day that I see leaves on the ground and the first day I get to wear a sweater and boots. This year though it feels like I may blink and it will be here.
Anyways, sorry about my tangent. Today’s look has been a long time coming. I bought this top a while ago from Target and had this great idea to pair it with high waist black pants. It took some time to find a pair I liked. Well honestly not too long, I found some with a sash tie waist at Express but kept waiting for a sale and it never happened. I was browsing Boohoo recently and saw some that were similar and would do, AND they were only $20.
The two pieces paired together perfectly! The top is great because although it is sleeveless it is still work appropriate which helps with this heat lately! Check it out and find the items linked below:
Happy Saturday! I hope everyone had a great week and a great 4th of July! This is the end of my week of red, white, and blue so I wanted to round it all up for you. I love this color combo and totally believe you can wear it at any time of year and not just around the 4th of July. Let’s check it out!
Look 1: Cherlynn from the.B.Law Style Panel put this amazing combo together! The top is sooo cute (I helped her pick it out and now I want it too)! This look can go with sandals or heels depending on what event you’re wearing it to.
Look 2: I love being able to dress up a super casual outfit. Without the necklace and wedges this look is just a tee shirt and cut off shorts. Add a statement necklace and wedges and you have a cute and trendy outfit that says you are dressed up but not trying too hard, you know that, “I always look this good” style that I always talk about, my fav!
Look 3: There those shorts are again! You can really wear navy a lot especially as a bottom. This look is more color blocked but the wedges and necklace spice it up!
Look 4: I LOVE this outfit for work. We were supposed to wear red, white, and blue to work Monday and everyone loved mine! I was told I was the walking American flag. This outfit though as I said earlier can be worn at any time of year! It is fun and great for work.
Shop the look here: Top – Express (alternate linked) | Pants – Old Navy (alternate linked) | Heels – any white pumps! (I am not linking mine because they are HORRIBLY uncomfortable! They are the brand Mix No. 6, I got them at DSW – no offense Mix No. 6 but these heels are awful. Any suggestions on good white pumps ladies?)
Look 5: Lastly the perfect casual Friday or BBQ outfit. Dressed up but ready to have a good time! I am slowly buying into this whole sneakers with dresses trend, but I haven’t tried it myself yet… I will soon!
There you have it, five options for wearing red, white, and blue! Simple right? Let me know your favorite look(s) and have a great weekend!
